"None, I am afraid," Sky said with a lazy smile. "However, if it would please you, I would gladly invent an intriguing story of its origins off the top of my head."

"Please," she said lightly. She absently tucked a lock of hair behind her ear, as she smiled up at him.

"Actually, I lied," Sky said with a deep laugh. "I'm horrible at inventing stories and I swear on my life that I don't have a creative bone in my body. But," Sky prodded lightly, "perhaps if you start off the story, maybe I'll be inspired?"

Christine looked up at him, and tilted her head as she thought about it. "Your mask... it reminds me of a wolf," she said quietly. "Think you can go from there?"

"I shall try to do my best," Sky replied. "However," he continued with mock severity, "do not say that I did not warn you about my utter lack of talent at being a raconteur. If I bore you to tears, you brought it on yourself. Now then, it has been my experience that all good stories begin with 'once upon a time,' so mine will as well. Once upon a time there was a handsome prince who had everything he could possibly desire. However, he was a bit greedy and a bit of a narcissus and so one day the gods decided to punish him. On that particular day, the prince was relaxing in the shade of the forest when suddenly, he was attacked by a pack of wolves. The prince tried to run for help, but he was no match for their incredible strength. Needless to say, he was bitten and bleeding - but that wasn't the worst. From the bites of the wolves, he became cursed to become one of them by night for every night until the curse was broken by a woman who truly loved him for him and not for his title or riches. You see, the gods had sent the wolves to teach the prince a lesson - that his money and his looks were worthless compared to loving and being loved. Fortunately, the prince found his true love and they lived happily ever after. And because he learned the importance of love from the wolves, he grew to revere these creatures. The end." After a few moments of silence, Sky asked with a soft smile, "So how was that for a story? Are you on the verge of falling asleep?"

Christine's eyes had widened when he mentioned that the prince had been attacked in a forest. The story had hit too close to home. She quickly looked away. "The tale you tell sounds like something that happened in my childhood," she said softly.

Seeing that his companion looked hurt somehow, Sky apologized quickly, "I'm - I'm sorry if I offended you, lady; it wasn't my intention in the least. I swear it." Feeling like he had completely ruined their light-hearted conversation, Sky slowly backed away as he said, "Please, forgive me . . . I . . . I should go."
Turning, Sky pushed his way through the crowds in a futile attempt to look for a place to hide. The truth was, his story had hit too close to home for him too. It hadn't been his intention to speak of something that mirrored his life so closely, but it had just come out before he had even thought about what he was saying. Briefly closing his eyes, Sky rubbed his temples as he made his way toward the exit sign. Suddenly he wasn't in the partying mood anymore.

Christine hurried after him, intent on finding out who he was. Fully out of breath by the time she caught up, she bowed her head, trying to catch her breath.
"If you must leave, take your mask off. And I'll take off mine. I want to see who you are."

"I'd rather not," Sky said, feeling sick at the thought of revealing himself. Here he had just recently made up with Christine and he was already finding himself falling for another girl? He was despicable. Everyone was right; he was a jerk through and through. But it was better that this girl never know that it was him that she had conversed with - that way, it would never get back around to Christine that he had felt something for someone else when he had finally virtually committed himself to a relationship with her.
Shaking his head, Sky said in an almost pleading tone, his back turned to the girl, "Just go. Please."

Irritated beyond belief because she had a gut feeling that she knew who the man was, Christine ripped her mask off and stared up at him. "How many times do I have to say this," she hissed. "You are not my lord and husband, so do not presume to tell me what to do." Her blue eyes sparkled with what she believed justifiable anger.

In the moment before he released who he was talking to, Sky said mildly, "If you remembered correctly, lady, you would realize that I did not tell you to do anything; I did say 'please,' you know."
As his eyes focused to the darkness of the night, Sky's mouth formed into an "oh," as he winced. Taking a deep breath, he said uncomfortably, "Christine . . ."

"Surprised?" she asked, tilting her head as she looked up at him. She stood up on her tiptoes and hugged him. "The story just surprised me, that's all." Her eyes twinkled in amusement. "So, did you really enjoy my company when you didn't know it was me?"
She paused. "Now, will you take your mask off?"

Tash stood in a corner mostly hidden by one of the many large ferns around the room, mentally cursing out her room mate and promising never to tell Kevyn anything that could be used to black mail her later.
Speak of the devil here was her nemesis/closest friend. "I'm here and in a dress. Happy?" She inquired to the person she had just been happily cursing. "There was no way I was going to wear a dress with that many skirts so this is my compromise." Tash said as she gestured to her blood red evening gown. It was by no means the formal ball gown that everyone else was in but Tash was either going to wear this or modify a pant suit.
OCC: I'll post pics when I figure out where exactly Chris got her masks from.

Kevyn grinned at her friend. "Immensely." she said looking Tash up and down, very much enjoying her discomfort, it wasn't often she got to embarrass Tash like this. Though she did have to admit this style of gown was proving rather annoying, she absently adjusted her skirt, trying not to trip herself. "Looks good. Have you seen the boys yet by the way?"

"I've seen a fair few males but as for Quinn and Kae nope. I hate guessing games and this has to be the biggest one I can think of." Tash said as she tucked another curl back into her braid.
