Jac's smile seemed to widen so much. "Ohhh, would you let me play for you maybe then?" He asked, barely able to keep from jumping up and down. "I always carry it with me!" The corners of her mouth lifting in an amused smile, Layla said with a firm nod of her head, "I would love for you to play for me; I'm always up for experiencing something new."

Standing on the staircase, Stella lightly swirled her punch in its glass as she surveyed the crowds down on the dance floor. With a bored sigh, Stella wondered why none of her friends had bothered to find her - it wasn't as though it would be difficult to spot her. After all, she had worn this orange dress for a reason. The last thing she wanted was to have a perfectly good party spoiled because she couldn't really talk to anyone due to the fact no one could recognize each other.
Out of the corner of her eye, Stella spotted a shock of magenta hair. A slow smile spread across her face as she knew that that could only be Riven . . . and where there was Riven, Brandon and Sky would have to be somewhere nearby. Scanning the people around Riven, Stella squinted her eyes. Not him. Not him. Definitely not him. Feeling as though she was on the verge of stamping her foot, Stella finally saw someone who looked like he might be Sky. And if that was Sky, he'd know where Brandon was.
As she quickly descended the staircase, Stella managed to catch up with the tall blond gentleman she had her eye on. As she walked up behind him, she said formally, "Good evening, m'lord," on the off chance that the man wasn't Sky.

Hearing the voice behind him, Sky turned around and then groaned inwardly as he caught sight of who was talking to him. It could only be one person. Stella. No one else but her would dare to wear something so . . . bright.
With a smile, Sky replied with a courteous, "Good evening, m'lady," before he leaned down slightly and whispered, "I know that that is you, Stella and no, I am afraid that I don't know where Brandon is."

With a sad pout, Stella replied, "Some help you are," before she turned and flounced back toward her former position on the staircase.

As Stella disappeared back into the crowd, Sky sighed as he glanced at the people around him. No one looked even mildly familiar. Damn masks. It was all their fault for disguising everyone. With a faint smile, Sky suddenly remembered how his sole dance partner of the evening as of yet had told him that she wished to snitch off his mask. He had laughed at that then - but now, his fingers were itching to do just that.
And he was itching to find her again. He didn't really care to dance with her again - it was too formal for his liking - but he did want to talk with her some more. She had intrigued and amused him with her clever wit and frankly, at the moment, he was in dire need of some amusement.

Christine turned away from her companion for a moment, and let out a small sigh. She wanted nothing more then to rip that mask off her face and just locate Sky and tell him to get her out of here before she got desperate and tried to turn her dress into a pants suit because she was tired of getting stepped on. Her left hand clutched the locket - one that seemed slightly out of place with what she was wearing.

Slipping up behind Stella, Brandon smiled at her choice of dresses. "You look amazing, my lady." Brandon announced his presence behind her.

Jac's smile seemed to widen so much. "Ohhh, would you let me play for you maybe then?" He asked, barely able to keep from jumping up and down. "I always carry it with me!" The corners of her mouth lifting in an amused smile, Layla said with a firm nod of her head, "I would love for you to play for me; I'm always up for experiencing something new." Jac excitedly took her hand and started heading for the outside, as it would be rude to play inside. He knew the perfect song to play for the fairy girl. "We should go outside!" He said quickly and happily as he saw her rather confused look at being dragged. "Much better"

Was that a flash of gold hair heading their way? Christine quietly excused herself from her companion and quietly moved in the direction. She adjusted her mask slightly, absently, and smiled up at the approaching figure. Ah, her dance partner from earlier. She dipped into another curtsy. "And did you come looking for the little chambermaid pretending to be a princess, m'lord?" she lightly teased, her comment harkening back to their earlier conversation.

"Well, it would be quite the welcome change of pace," Sky replied with an amused smile. "I've run into so many princesses this evening that I must admit, I am quite bored with them. All they do is curtsy and act obsequiously and I'm in dire new of a breath of fresh air." With a twinkle in his eye, Sky added with a slight bow, "That would be you, m'lady."

Christine blushed, her cheeks tinting to the color of her mask, which had started to slip before she realized it and hurriedly pushed it back up. Hopefully, the cat wasn't out of the bag yet. Hopefully. "Well, I think I could provide you with that little breath of fresh air.
A golden locket hung around her neck, one that looked all too familiar.

"I am very relieved to hear it," Sky replied with a dancing smile. "You see, I was quite afraid before I found you that I would die of suffocation; I don't know about you, but there is only so much talk of the dancing and the hors d'oeuvres I can take before I seriously consider making a run for it. But that wouldn't be very proper of me, now would it?"

"You have no idea how much I agree with you," Christine said, a wry grin dancing across her features. "This dress is going to drive me insane. I hate all the frills and lace and beads," she said quietly. "I wish very much that I was male so I could be wearing pants like you."

Smoothly, Sky replied without missing a beat, "Well, lady, one thing is for certain, even if you were in pants, you would still be the belle of the ball."

Christine's cheeks tinted a richer rose when he said that. "You flatter me, m'lord," she said quietly, smiling. She tilted her head as she looked at his mask. "Your mask intrigues me, m'lord. What's the story behind it?"
