Christine hid the pain of having her touch be rejected under a mask of contentment. But her eyes always gave her away. She quickly glanced away so he wouldn't see the pain in her eyes. "You're welcome," she said, her voice quivering a little. Now that she thought about it... Maybe she'd just forget to give him the present - let the party be her present to him.

Flora's green eyes widened and her cheeks went crimson. "Oh my," she said quietly. "I really didn't remember, Layla. The thing... she locked memories away so that's why I'm confused." She allowed herself to droop. "But if I was in love with him - he's shown no signs that he could have shared the feelings." Layla shook her head as she replied, "I can't really blame him - I mean, at the beginning of the school year he almost lost his job when Griselda found out that there might be something between the two of you. The Professor pretty much freaked and ever since, I think he's tried to remain professional with you."

Flora nodded, still a bit confused. "Right," Flora said, only answering because it felt as if an answer was needed. "That makes sense." She only wished she could remember what Layla was talking about.

"You're welcome," she said, her voice quivering a little. Now that she thought about it... Maybe she'd just forget to give him the present - let the party be her present to him. Feeling the silence settle over them, Sky bit his lip, not sure what else to say. He hated that things had become this way between them, but he had made his choice. Bloom. Bloom had been his choice. He had to remember that. Pushing away from the railing, Sky said, "Well, uh, I think I'm going to go back inside now - you know, I've got to thank ever one for coming to celebrate my birthday and all. But I'll see you around." As he started to walk away, Sky paused and then said quietly over his shoulder, "You look beautiful tonight, Christine." Not wanting to hear her response, Sky quickly hurried back inside.

Christine collapsed against the balcony and wept brokenly. It hurt so much but this was just how things were going to be. She would just have to lock her heart away behind a veil of ice so the pain would stop. She'd just have to put on another mask later and pretend to be happy for him.

As Sky reentered the room feeling oddly dejected after his conversation with Christine, his blood seemed to suddenly run cold at the sound of a very familiar voice. A very familiar voice asking someone where he was. Feeling the urge to turn and run away, Sky started to make his escape when the owner of the voice turned. And looked directly at him.

“Are you surprised to see me, Sky, darling?” Diaspro asked with a tinkling laugh as she drew closer to his shocked face. “I can’t imagine why you should be – after all, doesn’t being a spurned former fiancée mean that I deserve to visit and wreak havoc on your life without warning?” Seeing Sky frown at her words, Diaspro sighed as she continued, “Come now, don’t give me that look; you know I am just toying with you . . . you know, the way you toyed with me last year.”

Trying to keep his cool, Sky asked evenly, "What are you doing here, Diaspro?"

Christine composed herself the best she could and made her way inside to the party. She paused a moment, looking confused to see Disapro there. Had she invited the other princess or was the other woman crashing the party? Either way, things were going to get messy... but interesting.

"Was I misinformed?" Diaspro asked, arching a brow. "Is this not your birthday celebration?" Not waiting for an answer, Diaspro leaned in closer as she whispered, her hand against his chest, "And why so formal, Sky? I always thought I was Disa to you, not Diaspro."

Sky jerked away from Diaspro's touch as he replied sternly, "Please restrain yourself; I still have a girlfriend, Diaspro. And yes, this is my birthday party. That still doesn't explain why you are here though as I highly doubt that Christine invited you."

Taking the newest tray out into the main room, Tash took a look around when the room went silent. Sky was talking to another girl. Spotting Chris standing by the door. Tash set the tray down and went over to her. "Who's the diva?" Tash whispered, she could not keep all these people straight for the life of her.

"That's the girl Sky was cheating on while he dated Bloom. That's Princess Disparo. I have no idea why she's here. I don't remember inviting her but she has every right to be here, I guess," Christine said, with a shrug. She only hoped that Tash wouldn't comment on her tears.

Stepping back, Diaspro laughed as she replied, "Oh come off it, Sky; you honestly don't think I still harbor any feelings for you, do you? Like I said, I enjoy baiting you - mainly because it's so easy to ruffle your feathers." Flicking her hair gracefully over her shoulder, Diaspro continued, "Now then, moving on to about why I'm here. I come on behalf of the royal family of Chalcedony. You know my mother and father - always so formal. Even though, our engagement was broken, that doesn't mean that their should be bad blood between our families, does it? See? This is my peace offering, Sky. Consider us friends."

"Friends?" Sky asked incredulously. "Forgive me, Diaspro, but I find it very hard to believe that we could ever possibly be friends."
