"Thank you for every thing you've done for Christine, Doctor. I'll make this quick as I know your more then exhausted. I never got to see her injuries so what is the likely hood that she has been infected with the werewolf gene?" Tash asked blunt as usual.

: Doctor Sterling gave the girl a wry grin. "Unless the curse can be passed through clawing, then there's no chance of her being infected. But to be on the safe side, we did run a few tests, just to make sure. But all the results came back negative. She doesn't have the curse." He glanced away. There was something he wasn't telling anyone.

"After traveling the realms all my life I like to think I'm pretty good at reading people. So what aren't you telling us?" Tash said deciding not to bring up the feelings of unease she was getting from the Doctor.

: Doctor Sterling glanced back. "There was some damage in a certain area," he said quietly. "She might not be able to have children because of the injury." He glanced over in Sky's direction. "I don't know how to tell her husband."

To that Tash paused before asking "Does Christine know?" this was going to be devastating to Chris.

: Doctor Sterling shook his head no. "No, not yet. I was going to wait until she was deemed stable before telling her. Of course, my colleagues wanted her to know now but given what her body had gone through, I figured waiting would be the best course." He glanced over in Sky's direction. "I just hope he didn't want kids..."

"Please wait. Hearing that would be more then she could take right now. I don't know about Sky but I know that Chris wanted a family of her own." Tash quietly requested of the doctor. She didn't know if Sky wanted to have children but as he was the crown prince it was only matter of time before it was his duty to have children of his own.

: Sterling nodded. "The key word is might. She could have children, but due to the extent of the injury, having children could prove to be near fatal. Hopefully, we could be able to find a way to let her have children before then." He sighed and shook his head. "I just dread telling her husband about that. Do you think he'd be understanding?"

"Her husband?" Tash pasued for a moment following his gaze, "Oh you mean Sky. They're not married I don't even think they have officially started dating yet. But if your still going to tell him don't do it before you tell Christine. He feels like this is his fault; knowing that because of this fight she might not have children would hurt him more and make him do something stupid." Tash said having no doubts that if Sky knew about this he would hunt down Wolf if it was the last thing he did; as it was Tash wasn't sure if Sky would behave and not track Wolf down.

: Sterling looked a bit embarrassed. "And..." he winced. "Damn. I was going by what the papers said and the fact that her parents aren't here yet. So I was asking his premission because, oh, bloody hell." He sighed. "Well, water under the bridge at this point." He was about to ask why Sky would view this as his fault - but the little lightbulb blinked into existence and a look of understanding appeared. "Although, if his sense of hearing is quite strong due to his being a you know what, then he's already heard what we discussed." He glanced over his shoulder to gauge Sky's reaction. Somehow, he didn't think it'd be good.

"Damn." Tash muttered, she never had actually dealt with werewolves before so this was a new one for her but then she really shouldn't be surprised; a wolf is a wolf. Tash quickly shrugged it off; this couldn't be any worse then when she first met Sky and called him useless. Tash also looked over to Sky looking for any indication that he heard what they were talking about.

A few feet away from Dr. Sterling and Tash, Sky was sitting obliviously in one of the many waiting chairs that were lined up against the wall of the hallway, his eyes closed as he tried to catch a moment's rest. It felt as though he had been awake for hours and as much as he wished he could stay awake, he just couldn't, for the life of him, keep them open a moment more . . .
As he shifted in his seat, trying to get more comfortable, Sky heard the sound of footsteps approach and then stop right by him. Opening one eye, feeling mildly irritated, Sky looked up to see Layla standing before him, one hand resting on her hip, the other holding a cup of coffee.

Holding out the coffee, Layla said curtly, "Here. Take this - you obviously need it more than I do." As Sky reached up to take the cup, Layla tiredly lowered herself into the chair next to him. Silently, she watched him for a few moments as he listlessly stared down at his feet, before she said, cutting straight to what she knew was bothering him, "It's not your fault, you know. Whatever exactly happened to Christine, you can't hold yourself accountable for it. But what's more than that, you can't go losing your head right now - you know what I mean. I may not be one of your closest friends, Sky, but it doesn't take a genius to know that you're plotting to go find whoever it is who did this to Christine." Shaking her head, Layla continued, "You fighting this other guy won't help her, though. There's only one thing you can do that will help her - and that's admitting what you really feel about her and Bloom and settling it once and for all." Holding her hand up to silence Sky, Layla said in a low voice, "This may not be the time or place to bring this up, but hasn't this been enough of a wakeup call for you, Sky? Christine almost died. Died, Sky. Now, I'm not an advocate of you ditching Bloom to be with her because god knows I'm one of Bloom's best friends, but the charade is up. You don't love Bloom. And maybe you don't even truly love Christine - maybe she's just your current flavor of the week and maybe in a few months' time you'll be tired of her, the way you've obviously tired of Bloom. But does that really matter? It's obvious that you want to be with Christine for at least right now," pushing herself to her feet, Layla finished quietly, "but did you think, Sky, that right now may be all that you will ever be able to have with her? I don't mean to sound cruel, but Christine isn't out of the woods yet; she's still in really bad shape. So think about it, Sky; think about what you really want before it's too late."
Turning away, Layla said, "I'm going to go ahead and go now, though. I don't think I can be of much further use, but, tell Christine that I hope she gets to feeling better, okay?" Shaking her head, Layla slowly walked down the hall to the elevators and after a few moments, disappeared behind their metal doors.

~Hours later~
Christine stirred in her hospital room and glanced about the room, trying to see who was sitting there. She placed a hand on her stomach and struggled to get up into a sitting position. Okay, that wasn't going to happen right away. That hurt just a little too much. Okay, so who was sitting with her now?
She licked her lips a bit, wetting them. "Hey," she whispered softly.

Sky smiled in reply as he said, "Hey, how are you feeling? Any better?" Gesturing to the hallway, he continued, "Stella and Layla left a couple hours ago because they have to go to class early tomorrow morning; they wanted to come in and see how you were doing, but you were asleep and everyone thought it best not to wake you. But they said hello and told me to tell you that they hoped you were feeling better." Pointing to the table beside the window, Sky added with a chuckle, "And Stella being Stella decided that your room was kind of drab so she got you some roses. Pretty, aren't they?"
