Christine settled back in her chair, seething silently. It was her night off and the announcer had known that. She was definitely going to give him a piece of her mind. Hopefully, when she did that she'd keep the whine out.

Pulling open the club doors, Karina navigated her way through the crowd, her eyes darting every which way as she tried to locate Alice. Finally spotting her friend, she made her way over to the table and unceremoniously plopped down in the chair because despite what anyone else may say, pushing through masses of people certainly wasn't a piece of cake. All that jostling and stumbling was enough for her body to cry out and demand a rest.
After ordering a soda from a circulating waitress, Karina turned to Alice and asked, her eyes sparkling, "Did you sign up for the contest? You better have because your voice is gorgeous - unlike mine." With a merry laugh, she added, "But we're not mentioning that, and," at this Karina sent Alice a stern look, "don't even think about trying to get me up there on that stage."
As Alice laughed softly, Karina cast her gaze around the club again. Spotting Christine, who she had recently befriended thanks to the pixietails, she waved and gestured for her to come over.

Christine rose from her seat and made her way over. She settled down in the chair Karina indicated and smiled. "So, what do you think of the club?" she asked, giving the place a once over. It felt strange sitting in the crowd and not having to be on stage, working.

"It's nice," Karina answered before she admitted with a sheepish smile, "although, I have to ask, is it usually this crowded? I mean, I think I got my feet stepped on at least twenty times when I tried to get to my seat - and I only walked a span of fifteen feet!"

"Then you should be glad tonight's my night off. It usually gets packed quickly when I perform," Christine said with a giggle. "Of course, Sky hates that. Only because he can't stand to see my paycheck."

Laughing as well, Karina then paused before she said, "Where are my manners? Christine, this is my best friend and roommate, Alice - Alice, this is Christine, a new friend of mine." Only seconds after she had finished her introductions, Karina could have smacked herself as she suddenly remembered that her two friends already knew each other. And perhaps not in the best way. Not after the fact that, according to Alice, she had been set up by the queen of Eraklyon to be the Prince Sky's next love interest. Not after the fact that it was common knowledge that Christine was kind of involved with Sky.
Forcing a nervous laugh, Karina cast her gaze toward the girl singing onstage and said, "She's pretty good, don't you think?"

Christine gave Alice a brief nod of recognition and acknowledgement. She turned her attention to the girl onstage and listened. "Hmm.." came the non-commital answer. She had a feeling that if Sky found out she was in this contest - he'd be lecturing her again, about something.

Casting Karina a pointed look, Alice asked lightly, "Kari, do you think you could go check to see when I'm performing?" Her friend wavering, obviously confused, she lifted her brows as she said, "Please."
When Karina had reluctantly left the table, Alice turned back to Christine and said with a frankness that she always used in informal settings, "That dinner meant nothing to him, you know. I mean nothing to him. I won't lie, I like Sky. He's smart and charming and he is almost everything a girl could want. But he doesn't want me. His mother, that's another story - his mother wants me for him. But he wants you. Only you. Maybe it's not my place to say, but you don't seem to believe that."

She looked at Alice, a sad tired expression on her features. "He may want me, but he'll never say it. He lives under his mother's thumb. He won't defy her, not for me, not for anyone." Tears pricked her eyes as she thought. "I thought we might have had a chance but now... now I don't know anymore..."

Fixing Christine with a sympathetic look, Alice replied, "Such is the life of a royal, I suppose. But times are changing, there may be hope yet."
Noticing that Karina was making her way back through the crowds toward them, Alice settled back down in her seat and said, idly playing with her drink's straw, "I meant what I said in my letter, you know. I like you; I think you're a good person and I hope you somehow get all the happiness you deserve. With or without Sky."

A karaoke night? Musa thought. It sure sounded like an awesome idea. She was walking on the street, and decided entering in the club. Singing would be awesome... She wondered how many people were waiting to sing in there?

Christine gave Alice the faintest of nods, her thoughts elsewhere for a moment. She recovered quickly and offered her a faint smile. "I suppose that's all I have left - waiting, hoping, praying..."

A karaoke night? Musa thought. It sure sounded like an awesome idea. She was walking on the street, and decided entering in the club. Singing would be awesome... She wondered how many people were waiting to sing in there? Her head bobbing in tune with the music, Stella suddenly spotted Musa out of the corner of her eye. Letting out a happy squeal, she jumped to her feet and pushed her way through the crowd to get to her friend. "Musa!" Stella cried out, throwing her arms around her. "When did you get here?" Not bothering to wait for an answer, she continued enthusiastically, "You've got to sing tonight - you'll win for sure." With a merry laugh, she finished, "They don't call you the fairy of music for nothing!"

Taking a sip of her drink, Alice nodded in agreement, although on the inside, she couldn't really relate to Christine's willingness to just sit back and hope that Sky would come to her. Alice didn't have time or patience for that; in her way of thinking, if a guy wanted to be with her, he had better show it and show it quick. If he couldn't, it was his loss. She knew that she was a catch and if a guy couldn't see that, if he couldn't muster up the courage to say that he wanted to be with her, then he obviously wasn't 'Mr. Right.'

The announcer thanked the girl that had been singing, "We'll get right back to the singing but I think it's time we announced the prizes. Anyone interested?" The announcer asked with a grin when he heard the screams. "I have one other thing to tell you all first, for tonight half of what the bar earns will be divided among three charities each of the winners will get to pick their favorite program to whom they wish the money to go. So everyone drink up it's for a good cause." once the fan fair had dyed down a little he continued, "Now as for what the winners get gift certificates to some of the local shops. Details at a later time, now I'm sure your all sick hearing me talk so back to the songs. Next up is Miss Alice."
