Christine stood in the observatory, her shoulders shaking as silent tears streaked down her face. She felt like a complete idiot and a failure. She failed Riven, failed Sky, failed herself. "I can't believe I messed up so badly," she whispered to herself.
Her friendship with Riven was in pieces. Sky wanted nothing to do with her. Sky was cursed again. And she was once again a target for Darkar. Not to mention, she had the stress of running a realm to deal with.
She sighed softly and shook her head. She had no idea how she was going to fix things - but she had to. She just had to. She wasn't going to let things end this way. With a firm nod, she turned to go find Sky and see how he was doing... Of course...
Maybe...
No, she shook her head. She wasn't going to go. If he wanted to talk to her, then he could. She wasn't going to force him to do anything.

Slinking into the observatory, Sky squeezed his eyes shut as he slid wearily to the floor, sincerely wishing that he was anybody else but himself. Hadn't he dealt with enough in his life? And now this? Whatever 'this' was. He still didn't know. All he did know was that somehow he was turning back into the thing that he had thought he had finally escaped.
Lowering his head onto his forearms, Sky sighed quietly. Why him? Why was it always him? What kind of evil had he ever committed to deserve this? Because he was sick of it; sick of having to worry about what kind of disaster was going to strike his life next. Sick of having to hear people talk about him. Sick of everything. He wanted his life back; he deserved to have his life back. He hadn't done anything wrong; he hadn't told lies or threatened to hurt somebody. He didn't deserve to be cursed. He deserved to be happy just like everyone else.
Exhaling loudly, Sky kept his eyes shut as he tried to calm himself down. Losing his mind wouldn't solve anything. He had to think rationally. He had to figure out how to get himself out of this. Suddenly remembering how he had discussed with Christine how to get help for Karel by going to see some teachers at Alfea, Sky wondered if perhaps he ought to do the same. Perhaps they could help him - could give him some insight onto why this was happening to him . . .

Christine sighed again and turned to walk off before spying Sky. She had that sinking feeling again. "Fancy running into you," she said softly, glancing at him quickly. "How you feeling?" she asked, not knowing what kind of answer she was going to get or knowing what she was expecting to hear. Something good she hoped.
She paused and sighed. No sense waiting.
"How far?"

Not bothering to open his eyes, Sky asked, his voice tinged with bitterness, "You have eyes, don't you? Then I think you can see that I'm turning into a wolf. Look at me - I have fur growing on my face and arms, I don't know what the hell is happening to my teeth and eyes, my ears are pointed like I was some kind of elf and look," at this Sky gestured at his hands, "these aren't normal nails. They're claws."
Shaking his head, Sky muttered inaudibly to himself, "I'll probably wake up tomorrow morning realizing that I'm going to have to run around on four legs . . . god, I've got to figure this out. I've got to get to Alfea and get someone to help me."

"I know the who and I know the why, we both know the how, but I don't know how to undo this," she said, kneeling down to look at him. She reached over and took his hands in hers. "You were right, it was Darcy. The reason she did this - she was bored and used you to allievate her boredom."
She bit her lower lip. "I tried to get her to tell me how to undo this but she wouldn't..."

At Christine's mention that she had gone to see Darcy, Sky jerked his hands away as he said, "Are you an idiot? Are you looking to get yourself hexed too?" Closing his eyes again, Sky continued in a calmer tone, "You shouldn't have gone to see her. She's dangerous. And don't even say that you can handle whatever she throws at you because you can't. If she wants to destroy you, she has the power to do it in a heartbeat."
Silent for a long moment, Sky then said, "Look, I appreciate what you tried to do, but I don't want you to be a part of this. So I'm asking you as your friend and team leader to stay out of it. If you have any ounce of respect for me, you'll follow my request. I'm going to get this under control. Tomorrow I'll go to Alfea and see what their potionology professor can do to help me." Forcing himself to sound confident, he finished, "I'm sure that he'll be able to help me and I'm sure that pretty soon I'll be fine."

Caught in a bind between doing what he wished and what she believed she should do, she lowered her eyes. "As my lord commands," she said quietly. She hugged him gently and drew back. "I just hope they can help you. I'll pray for a swifty return to your true condition."

"Yeah, I hope so," Sky echoed, as he stared blankly at the ledge opposite from him, temporarily allowing his facade of confidence to slip before he quickly replaced his tightly drawn features with a faint smile.

She settled down next to him and rested her head against his shoulder. She blinked as something swatted her and she glanced over her shoulder. "Tail."

"What?" Sky asked, his brow furrowed in confusion. Following Christine's gaze, his eyes widened suddenly and nearly popped out of his head in shock when he caught sight of what she had been referring to. More to himself than to her, he whispered slowly, "Please tell me that that isn't what I think it is . . ."

Christine leaned down and gave it a soft tug, trying to see if they were both imagining things. At the look of pain and irritation he awarded her for doing it, Christine sighed. "Looks like it's the real thing..."

"Well then," Sky said, still clearly not comfortable with the idea of his new body part, "perhaps I shouldn't wait until morning to go to Alfea. Perhaps I should go now. I mean, the sooner I go, the sooner I can get better." Glancing over at Christine, he asked, "What time is it? You don't think it's too late to make the trip over there do you?"

"Sorry, I left my watch in my dorm room," she admitted. She looked at him and held her hand up, trying to stem his protests. "I know, I promised I wouldn't get involved, but damn it, Sky. What if you fully transform before you get to Alfea and get help? Someone has to go with you to tell them."

"I believe protecting me is Brandon's job," Sky replied with a weak smile. "But I meant what I said, Chris," Sky continued in a more serious tone. "I don't want you involved in this. We've both been through enough lately and even though I have one more freak thing to deal with on my plate, it doesn't mean that you have to. End of story."

Christine sighed softly. "All right, fine. But you know me, Sky, I'm always trying to help you." She lowered her gaze. "I guess my wanting to help you is one of the reasons Riven left. I was too focused on you and not as focused on everyone else. At least, that's what Darcy said Riven said..."
