As Karina made her way through the crowd, a tiny smile danced at the corners of her mouth. It was no secret that she wasn't exactly the type of girl who had scores of suitors constantly vying for her attention, but tonight, tonight was something different. True, she was still alone, but for once she didn't mind. For once she felt confident and pretty - almost as though she was an entirely different person. And perhaps in a way she was. Strangely enough, having her identity disguised by a mask somehow made things easier - made her feel as though she could be anyone or anything she wanted.
Smoothing a wrinkle out of her voluminous grey ball gown, Karina surveyed the many masked faces as she tried to make out which one was her roommate, Alice. No such luck, though. There was just too many people. With a sigh, Karina ran her hand over the back of her neck before she brushed her disappointment off and made her way over to the refreshment table to get herself a glass of punch. She'd just have to try to catch up with Alice later.

"I would just be in the way. Who are the bride's maids anyways, perhaps we could ask Kevyn to be one. And the bills are all your fault I still think your over doing it." Tash retorted, still not overly fond of a large wedding.

"Well, it was going to be a surprise, but I have had a few things prepared and set up in your new chambers at the house, and I wanted to show you" Psi said with a sweet smile. "Thats the real reason I was aiming to get you to come with me"
He kept walking, listening to Jac's playing. For a farm boy he wasn't bad. Though Psi would later have to find a way to torture the young Demorian soon as he could.

"Why didn't you just say that to begin with?" Tash asked, tilting her head a little when she heard a faint tune. A smile flitted across her face, "I think I know who's playing, let's see if I'm right." Tash said lightly tugging on his arm. It had been ages since she had seen Jac and wanted to say hello again.

"Only if you teach me how, ball room dancing was not something either of us learned while traveling." Kaelin dryly remarked. It was almost funny really, some how both him and Tash showed up to a ball and neither of them knew how to dance. Kevyn giggled, "I'll try, but Quinn is the one that can really dance this stuff."

Quinn glared at his sister, the fact he actually liked to ball room dance was not something he wanted known. "And there's no way in hell I'm dancing with either of you so you're on your own."

"Aww. Why not?" Kevyn pouted.

"Because." Quinn crossed his arms. "The last time you danced with me I couldn't walk for a week and Kaelin's a guy so..." he shrugged.

A look of amused horror crossed his features, "What on earth did I do to you that you don't want me to walk for a week?" Kaelin teased Kevyn before asking, "Quinn your married, would your wife not feel better if you danced with another male?" The look on Quinn's face so made that last comment worth it. "But if it makes you feel better I don't want to dance with you either Quinn." Kaelin snickered wondering if per chance they should take it outside so not to interrupt the rest of the dancers.

"Would you two just go dance already," Quinn glared, "Before I hurt both of you."

Kevyn rolled her eyes, "Oh all right." She said already tugging Kaelin to the dance floor. "Just so you know, that incident was when we were eight years old and lets just say Quinn took to dancing like a natural and I.... well you get the idea." she said in his ear.

With a sigh, Karina ran her hand over the back of her neck before she brushed her disappointment off and made her way over to the refreshment table to get herself a glass of punch. She'd just have to try to catch up with Alice later. Spotting Karina a few feet away, Alice suppressed a smile as she decided that it would be fun to give her roommate a little surprise. Moving so that she could walk up behind her friend unnoticed, Alice's eyes danced with laughter as she drew closer and then whispered into Karina's unsuspecting ear, "Boo!" As her friend jumped slightly and then whirled around, Alice stepped back and laughed lightly behind her fan before she lowered it so that Karina could see that it was only her.

"Alice, you wicked!" Karina exclaimed as she playfully slapped her roommate's wrist. "You scared me half to death; and you know, that that wasn't very ladylike - although," at this she smiled, no trace of irritation on her face, "you do look like a lady tonight. Not that you don't usually, because you always do - which is good considering that you are a lady and all - but tonight you look especially wonderful."

Twirling around slowly so that Karina could get a good look at her ball gown, Alice replied humorously, "Now, I know pink is usually your color, and purple is usually mine, but this being a special occasion and all, I decided to go a bit crazy and switch things up." With a wry smile, she added, "Although, now I must say that I kind of regret it; no offense, Kari, but wearing pink - in addition to having this many skirts, makes me feel like something akin to an overgrown rose."

"Well, I for one think you look lovely and that is all that matters. And besides, don't you know that roses are considered to be the prettiest of all flowers? So don't you dare complain," Karina said affectionately. "But anyhow, now that you're with me, you'll be too busy having fun to think about what you look like." Tucking her arm into the crook of Alice's, Karina pulled her out into the crowds as she said cheerily, "The night is young, my friend, and we've got lots of partying to do; so let's get started, shall we?"
