Flora sat at a table and slowly sipped her first cup of cinnamon tea. She had gotten in late - after spending the afternoon and better part of the evening hanging out with Karina. She had to admit that she was quite pleasant company - something that she missed when hanging out with the other Winx Girls. Well, that wasn't entirely true. Flora did enjoy hanging out with Layla and Musa. But the others... She shook her head, dismissing the thoughts. However, her attention was drawn to the whispers of the tables around her. Were they talking about Stella? And from the way it sounded... it wasn't particularly good gossip. Sweaty and worn out from her early morning run, Layla wrapped her jacket around her hips as she slipped into the dining hall. Right now, what sounded good was a glass - no make that two glasses - of ice cold water. As she began to make her way toward the counter where the food was served, she spotted Flora out of the corner of her eye. Giving her friend a wave, Layla decided that the water could wait and instead, made her way over to Flora's side.
It wasn't long before Layla began to notice the soft laughs, the whispers, and the pointing fingers at some unknown something. With a furrowed brow, Layla turned to Flora as she asked, "Have any idea what's going on?"

"All I've heard is Stella's name and the comments about how can she eat that much," Flora said softly. "Other than that, color me clueless.." She knew Stella had a healthy appetite - but from the sounds of the gossip - this wasn't.

Frowning, Layla made her way over to where she knew Stella normally sat, wondering what her friend could possibly be doing to cause such a buzz. As she finally caught sight of Stella - or at least a girl who resembled her - Layla let out a small gasp as she exclaimed, "Stella - what happened to you?" Sinking down onto the seat next to her, Layla asked, as she cast a worried glance over her shoulder at the other giggling girls, "Are you . . . uh . . . having an allergic reaction to something?"

Glancing up at Layla, Stella asked, her fork raised halfway to her mouth, "That's a bit out of the blue, isn't it, Layla? Why would you possibly ask me that? And why are you looking at me like there's something wrong . . . what, do I have something on my face?" Lifting a hand to her face, Stella dabbed her fingers against the corner of her mouth and her chin before her eyes slowly widened. Something felt different. Fleshier. As though she had bloated up or something . . .
Or something.
Fumbling for her purse, Stella dug around for her compact. Popping it open to reveal the small mirror, Stella brought it up to her face before she gasped. Who was that?

Flora's eyes widened a bit as the crowd parted a bit so she could see Stella and Layla. Dear Demeter, what *happened* there? Was that really Stella? She said nothing but some small bit of her...
...did find that amusing.

As she slowly looked down at the rest of her body, feeling a cold dread running through her veins, Stella felt her eyes well up with tears. What was happening to her? And why? And how could all those people actually sit there and laugh at her? Sure, she may be a bit vain and self-centered and a little too blunt with her opinions on the other girls' style, but she had never actually mocked anyone's actual appearance. She had never once poked fun at girls who were a little heavier than her . . . obviously, the girls she thought were her friends, or in the very least, semi-decent people, couldn't show her the same courtesy.
Feeling her eyes burning, Stella wished that the floor would just open up and swallow her whole. But she had her pride. Even in this situation, she would keep a firm grasp on it. No way in hell was she going to run out of the room crying. She was still Stella, Princess of Solaria. Nothing could change that.
But she had to admit, she was thankful that she had opted to wear something today that didn't reveal her midriff.

Lifting her eyebrows, Layla said, "I have to say, Stel, you're taking this pretty well . . ."

With a composed expression, Stella replied, "Why should I be embarrassed? This isn't any fault of mine; obviously, the only logical explanation is that someone hates me and thinks that doing this to me is a good joke. Well, I'm not going to let them win. I'm going to sit here and watch you and Flora eat your breakfast and then when you're ready to leave, I'll come with you as though nothing was wrong in the world. And then I'll go visit Ms. Faragonda and have her fix whatever it is someone did to me; I'll be back to normal before you know it."

Giving her an unsure look, Layla finally answered, "Well, good for you, Stella. I'm proud of you for being the bigger person." Wincing at her unintentional reference to size, Layla smiled sheepishly. "I think I'm going to go get my breakfast now-"

At the mention of food, Stella felt her stomach growl hungrily. Before she could stop herself, she blurted out, "While you're up there, Layla, could you get me some pudding? And a piece of cheesecake? And a baked potato?" Cringing, Stella clapped her hands over her mouth before she said meekly, "Don't listen to me. No matter how much I beg, don't listen to me. Because I'm thinking that this spell is set up so that I crave food. And the more food I eat . . ." Stella trailed off as she bit her lip, wishing that this breakfast would just hurry up and be done with.

Flora just settled down to sip her tea - her appetite pretty much gone. She glanced over at Karina to see what she thought of the scene. "So, Karina?" she asked softly. "Do you have anything planned for this afternoon? I was wondering if you could come with me after class to the bookstore... I was hoping to find a copy of elfin poetry, I'm kinda intrigued by the one volume you gave me."

Glancing at Stella for a brief moment, Karina wondered in amazement how the other girl managed to keep her cool - or, as she would have done if she were in Stella's situation - run out of the room in humiliation. But then again, Stella was Ms. Confidence and she was . . . not.
Turning her attention back to Flora, Karina smiled as she nodded, idly running her finger around the rim of her glass. "Nope, I'm all free for the afternoon, so count me in." Laughing softly, she added, "You know me; I'll use any excuse to make a trip to the bookstore."

Flora smiled. "Great," she said softly. "I just have Professor Palladium's class this afternoon so as soon as his class lets out I'll meet you in the commons?" she asked. "Any poets you recommend?"

Tapping her chin in thought for a moment, Karina then replied, "Well, I think it depends on what kind of poetry you most enjoy. For me, I like don't like poetry that is very succinct or about things that aren't pleasant; I prefer the more classic, eloquent poets - the ones who tend to write about nature. That's why I like the elfin poets; most of them are like that. Right now though I'm really enjoying the works of Zdenek - he was an Athryellian poet from about the twelfth century and he's amazing. There's no other way to put it." As she spoke of the poetry, something Alice had teasingly called her one true love, Karina's eyes lit up until they were very near glowing.
