Stella frowned as she looked up at Brandon quizzically. "What in heaven's name was that about? I mean, was it just me or did she look like she was about to burst into tears or something?" Shaking her head, Stella murmured, "Strange, strange girl."

Handing Bloom a glass, Sky said, "I hope you like punch because it looked like that that was all there was." With a laugh he continued, "Well, maybe not . . . but it was crowded and the punch was right in front of me so I just got that. I hope you don't mind." "This is wonderful. Thank you." Bloom responded as she took the glass from Sky. "So are you going to sit down for a moment before you brave the crowds again to thank you well wishers."

"I am just as confused as you are, snucums. Do you want to go and talk to her?" Brandon asked, concerned for her but not knowing how he could help.

"This is wonderful. Thank you." Bloom responded as she took the glass from Sky. "So are you going to sit down for a moment before you brave the crowds again to thank you well wishers." "I should probably go, but I don't want to," Sky replied reluctantly. Taking a seat again beside Bloom, he continued, "I never know what to say to people - especially considering that I'm not really close to a lot of them. It just feels so awkward to go around and stick my hand out for them to shake and to tell them "Thank you for sharing this day with me." After a while that gets kind of repetitive and impersonal, you know?"

Tash watched Sky's retreating back. "Well that was interesting." she said to herself as she went to the fridge and pulled out some more fruit. Cutting up the fruit for an other tray, "And moments like that make me glad I am single."

Christine stood out on the balcony and stared down at the ground. She laughed quietly, the moment feeling all too familiar. Any second now, she expected Sky's darker half to appear behind her. She sighed and leaned against the railing.
So much for her party spirit.

Bloom offered as she leaned into Sky and put placed her head on his shoulder. "I'll take on the hardship of being the birthday boy's protector."

Flora glanced over at Layla. "Could he break the seer's heart anymore? I mean, she's done so much for him in getting this party done and from what I can tell he hasn't said thank you or at least compliamented her on the dress she has on." She rolled her green eyes and gave Layla a tight grin. "You'd think he'd know better."

Smoothing the hem of her white party dress, Layla sighed as she responded, "Well, think on the bright side, Flora - at least it doesn't seem like he's stringing both Christine and Bloom along anymore. I mean, it looks like he's finally decided that he wants to be Bloom's boyfriend and Christine's friend. Now maybe everyone can move past all this drama." Flicking her wavy brown hair behind her back, Layla finished emphatically, "I hate drama."

"I suppose you're right," Flora said. She confided only in Layla about what she remembered as Demeter, what little bits and pieces she could recall clearly. "But when he went to Darkar to rescue her... He said he was fighting for someone he *loved*," she said quietly. "So, this isn't making any sense at all."

"And that, my dear, dear friend, is why I don't date," Layla replied with a laugh. "Too much interpretation involved. Too much 'When he said that, did he really mean this?' for my tastes. Anyhow, we all know Sky is Captain Fickle - so it really doesn't surprise me if he had a change of heart from Christine back to Bloom. I'm just hoping that he won't feel compelled to have another change; I think I'd go mad."

"I suppose," Flora said. "I just feel sorry for her. She seems so nice that she doesn't deserve to be hurt by him," she added quietly. She sighed. "I just wish he wasn't so fickle."

"Well, someone was bound to be hurt sooner or later," Layla replied realistically. "I mean, sure, I'm sure it's painful, but now Christine can move on to a more healthy relationship because lord knows that whatever she had with Sky wasn't."

Giving Brandon a quick kiss on the cheek, she smiled faintly as she finished, "I think she needs to be alone right now."

"I suppose," Flora said. "I just wish we could find someone for her that's better for her then Sky." She paused. "Do you think Helia would like her?"
