Listening to the noise coming in through the main room, Tash responded "Nope, not dead at least for the moment. Okay my turn for a question. You both know Sky fairly well right?"

Flora looked at Layla, then turned to Tash and nodded. "As well as we can. Why'd you ask?" the flower fairy asked, tilting her head in confusion.

"Sky?" Christine asked quietly. "You okay?" She could tell something was troubling him when he nearly dropped her when they did a small dip. "I can tell something's bothering you. I mean, I know the waltz has a dip, but that one nearly had me getting up close and personal with the floor. Not that there's anything wrong with the floor. It's a pretty floor. I'm just not sure if I want to meet it. You know what I'm saying?" she rambled.

Sky nodded absently, as he continued to feel himself helplessly falling deeper into his thoughts. Thoughts that bothered him. Confused him. Terrified him.
The thought of leaving Bloom especially caused him discomfort. She was his security, his friend, and he loved her - just not in the same way he once had. Yes, he still loved her, even if Diaspro would beg to differ, but things had changed. At one point in his and Bloom's relationship he couldn't even visualize himself with anyone else. Ever. He could see himself marrying her. Having kids with her. Ruling Eraklyon with her. But now . . . it wasn't so much that he couldn't see himself doing those things with Bloom, so much as it was that he could see that there were other options. Other people.

Christine could feel a gulf between them. She on one side, Sky and his love for Bloom still on the other. She was tempted to pull free from his arms, and leave him to his ghosts. But damn it. She had loved him ever since that summer and couldn't find herself loving anyone else. No one came close. Sky... He saved her so many times.
So, she'd keep silent. Let him work through this - but always be there to be the one to fall back on.

Vaguely Sky knew that he should be paying attention to Christine, that he should push aside his thoughts, and yet . . . he just couldn't. The thoughts . . . they just kept coming. He just couldn't stop thinking that if he should take the plunge and leave Bloom, his world would be incredibly different. And not just in the sense that things between Bloom and himself would be different. Things between everyone else and himself would be different. That was the price he paid for sharing the same friends with Bloom, Sky thought with a sigh. Should he walk away from Bloom, he would be walking away from Stella - who would take Brandon with her. And, much like the domino effect, Brandon would take with him Riven and Timmy and even Helia. And then it would just be himself. Alone. Friendless. Well, with the exception of Christine. But as much as he loved Christine, he also loved being around his other friends. He didn't want to lose them.

Christine couldn't help but rest her head against Sky's chest, but there was no affection behind it. She just needed a place where she could cry. She didn't care that she was going to get his shirt wet. Even though he loved her, he loved Bloom more. She could sense that. He'd never end things with Bloom and she was a fool for getting her hopes up.
She doubted that even though Diaspro claimed she could help, that any help given would work.

Feeling something wet falling against his shirt, Sky glanced down at Christine in confusion as he stopped dancing. Placing a finger under her chin, Sky tilted her face up so that he could look into her eyes. Furrowing his brow, he asked softly, "Hey, what's wrong? Why the tears?"

"Because, here I am, standing here in front of you and all I get is a shell. Mentally, you're miles away, sharing everything with Bloom." She wordlessly pulled away, turning away. She silently continued to sob as she stood before him.

Sky wanted to protest, to tell her that he was in fact, right there with her, both in the physical and mentally - but he couldn't because he knew that she was right. He wouldn't add insult to injury by pretending otherwise.
Sighing, Sky turned away as he replied flatly, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry for being confused. And I don't mean to say that with any sarcasm whatsoever. I'm being entirely frank with you. I do love you, Christine. I can see myself with you. But because I don't want to lie to you anymore, I have to tell you that yes, I still have deep love for Bloom too. And I don't think that's wrong of me. Not after I've spent over a year of my life with her." Shaking his head he continued, "You and Bloom are two very different people. You would think that that would make it easier on me to make my choice - but the opposite is true. It makes it that much more difficult because both of you have qualities I love and qualities that irritate me. For example, I hate the way Bloom easily loses her temper and I hate how you are so self-deprecating. So who do I choose?" With a wry laugh, he finished, "If you could give me some magic formula to solve all my problems, I'd be very grateful."

Christine was silent for a long time. "Hmm.." she said, knowing that something had to be said to break the silence. "I got self-deprecating because of how the other children treated me. You know how I got treated as a child." She chuckled quietly.

Knowing that what he was going to say would hurt her, Sky knew that nevertheless it had to be said if she was ever to get past her rough childhood. Staring down at his hands for a moment, Sky finally said, as he looked up to meet her gaze, "But you're not a child anymore, Christine. You can't let it still get to you."

"I try but..." She shook her head. "I still get that treatment especially with some of our teammates." She sighed. "And now I've completely lost my party spirit. Any ideas how to get it back?"

Sky sighed as he replied, "Afraid not. I seem to have lost my party spirit too." Glancing back toward the elevator, he continued with a weary shrug of his shoulders, "I guess we should probably go back up there. I mean, I should probably give a speech or something, right? I'm assuming that that is expected of me - at least according to the rules of etiquette, for whatever it's worth."

"I think so," Christine said blandly. "You go first. I'll come later." She paused. "Besides, do we really want people to start gossip about us being a couple... Unless you want to?"
