"I'm kind of eager to see Sky and Chris interact on stage. It should be cute," Flora said, laughing. "I suppose it helps that they have such a chemistry already."

Curious, Karina asked with an arched brow, "So are they an item or something now?" With a humorous smile, she added, "I've been so swamped with schoolwork that I've fallen behind on the latest gossip, so you'll have to catch me up."

"Supposedly they're dating or something," Flora said, with an absent wave. "I mean, the gossip papers have them married and had been expecting children," she pointed out. "So far, the gossip papers have been quiet since..." her voice trailed off before she cleared her throat. "From what we know, she and Sky have been close since children and one and one is two."

"So far, the gossip papers have been quiet since..." her voice trailed off before she cleared her throat. "From what we know, she and Sky have been close since children and one and one is two." "Oh," Karina said, feeling a bit disheartened by that bit of news. It wasn't as though she herself harbored a crush or anything for Sky, but she knew that Alice had had one for the longest time - well, at least since toward the end of their freshman year. Her friend would be disappointed to hear the news, but Alice was resilient. She'd find someone else to set her sights on soon enough. Tucking a lock of hair behind her ear, Karina said after a few moments more, "Well, in any event, if they are an item maybe it will make the play more interesting - give it some added tension, you know?" Tilting her head, she continued, "They're actually pretty cute together, if they are in fact together. Let's just hope that nothing ruins it."

Flora nodded. "They do look cute, don't they," she said, watching the pair. "I'm kind of eager to see their take on the dance scene from the Disney movie. It should be unique and cute."
She paused and looked at Karina. "So, who are you playing?" she asked quietly. "I'm playing the teapot."

Narrowing her eyes, Layla frowned as she asked, although she had a hunch that she already knew the answer, "And just what is that supposed to mean?" Stella stood staring at Layla in silence for a few moments before she turned away with a loud "Hmph." Holding her head up high, she finally answered, "I don't want to talk about this, Layla." Whirling around suddenly, she snapped, "Seriously. How is it that you always have a way of raining on everyone's parade? Flora and I were perfectly happy until you showed up - but look what you did! She left. And why? Because of you. So, do me a favor and leave me alone. I don't want your negative energy to rub off on me."

At Stella's sudden outburst, Layla felt as though her friend had jabbed a knife through her stomach. True, she and Stella had never been as close of friends as Stella and Bloom . . . but still, she had never felt that Stella was capable of saying such things to her; she had never thought that Stella could have harbored such thoughts about her . . . and yet, here she was. Proven wrong.
Feeling sick, Layla slowly took a few steps back and then turned and hurried toward the auditorium exit. She knew herself. She knew that at any moment she would burst into tears. She could already feel the familiar burn behind her eyes, the tightening of her throat. Furious at herself for being on the verge of breaking down, Layla managed to make it out into the privacy of the hallway before she sank to the cool floor and leaned over to rest her forehead against her knees, her shoulders trembling with suppressed tears.

Hearing the auditorium doors clang shut, Stella rolled her eyes. Muttering under her breath as she adjusted the straps of her dress, Stella said, her lips pursed, "And they say that I'm the dramatic one. At least I don't run out of rooms crying at the drop of a hat."

Christine turned her head when she heard the closet open and she paused in midscene. Her eyes widened and she broke out in a grin before running off stage to hug Sky. "Where were you?" she asked, gently kissing the "beast"'s cheek. "I was starting to get worried." She glanced away, and started to play with the hem of her dress, clearly shy and embarrassed by her over-eager greeting. Dryly, Sky replied, "Couldn't you tell? I was hiding in the closet. Why, you ask?" At this Sky gestured at his costume before he continued with a laugh, "Do I really need to answer that? Because obviously, I was the only one who didn't get the memo that signing up for this play actually translates into 'I'm going to look ridiculous.' I don't mind so much now - but I tell you, my mother is gong to have a field day." Apologetically, Sky said, "Yes, you heard correctly. My mother has decided to attend." His face suddenly turning sullen, he muttered under his breath, "She's probably doing it for the publicity. It'll just look so nice for an oh-so-busy queen to come to a play for 'the children.' Gag me."

After Christine disappeared to talk with Sky, Tash slipped out outside wanting a few minutes away from the others before they starting.
Making her way back into the room, thinking that it was about time for them to get started. Spotting Layla leaning against the wall Tash walked over to her and crouched in front of her. "Hey, what's wrong?" she asked quietly figuring that are you okay would have been tacky as it was obvious she was not.

Gag me." Christine rolled her eyes at his comment about his mother. As much as she didn't like the woman, she really didn't like talking bad about her. "I'm sure she means well," she said weakly, and without much conviction. She gave herself a small hug, trying to work away a chill. She gave him a soft smile. "And you don't look ridiculous. You look nice. But then I always liked you with the fur," she whispered in his ear. She giggled softly and tried to look demure. She was never really afraid of his wolf form - the only time she felt fear was when he was exposed to others who didn't understand him and wished him harm. She cleared her throat and shook her head. "And at least you don't have to wear a corset under your costume. After Belle arrives at the castle and has been there for a bit, poof! Out comes the terrifying corsets. I'm tiny but jaysus, do they have any idea how hard it is to breath with this thing on. So, if I pass out on stage, that would be why." Christine shifted her weight slightly and smiled up at him. "So, Beast," she said with a wink. "Up to practicing a scene? Your choice." She hoped that he'd do a scene with her - it would give them a chance to work together.

At the sound of the voice, Layla raised her head and quickly wiped her tears away with her hands. With a sheepish smile, she cast her eyes downward as she shook her head, not sure how to explain her actions. It all felt so silly. Here she was crying over Stella. Normal girls cried over boys and broken nails. But her? Of course she broke down at something that probably wasn't said to intentionally hurt her beyond a mild reprimand. Biting her lip, Layla finally replied, "I'm just being stupid. Stella and I got into a bit of a fight over something utterly asinine and I was just being overly sensitive - I haven't been getting a lot of sleep lately, so, I'm just kind of on edge, you know?"

"No not stupid, it's what makes us human." Tash started brushing her hair out of her face. "And yeah, I think I do have some idea, do you know why your not getting a lot of sleep?" Tash asked, hoping that Layla would open to her even if they had only spoken a couple of times before and always with other people around.

Layla gave Tash a tired smile as she replied lamely, "I've just been overwhelmed with school, you know - the usual." Pausing for a few moments, Layla fidgeted before she finally confessed, "To be honest, though, it's a lot more than school. I love my friends, I really do, but they can be so . . . dramatic. And it's exhausting - always having to be the listener, having to be the one to comfort and lend a shoulder to cry on, I mean. Sometimes I just feel like I'm in the background because what they're going through is always front and center." Waving her hand, Layla said with a short laugh, "Like I said - it's stupid. I'm probably just making a mountain out of a molehill."

"You may very well just be making a mountain out of a molehill, but if you are then let's figure this out before it does become a mountain. This is important enough to you that you feel this way so don't just brush it away." Tash said as she moved and sat down beside Layla. "Most people our age are still in the it's all about me stage. They don't mean for it to be hurtful but they just don't realize what they are doing. To top that most of you are Princess's and from what I have seen Princesses are fairly used to getting their own way. Your friends love you dearly and would do anything for you. They may not always show it because of some little crisis they are having." Tash paused letting what she had said so far sink in. "Never think that being the comfort someone that the others can count on as a bad thing or that it puts you in the background. If anything it proves that they trust you enough to come to you about their problems."
