Sky gasped when he saw her. It was eerie seeing some one who had been so lively just laying there, peacefully and without a sound.
"Chris...!"

: Brian wasn't sure what tone Sky's outburst had - but he was sure it wasn't one of happiness of seeing his team-mate. He smoothed a lock of Christine's hair off her forehead. It was taking everything in his power not to break into tears at seeing his cousin like this. In the fartherest recesses of her mind, Christine... stirred. "Sky?" her voice came in a quivering tone. But to all there, she appeared to remain asleep. : "Are you okay?" Brian asked quietly.

"I... I'm fine. Just shocked, that's all..." Sky shook his head wearily. "It's just hard to believe that something like this happened... "

: "Peter thinks that if we can retrieve the Crown of Ommadon, then we might be able to awaken her. But he doesn't know," Brian said quietly. He adjusted Christine in his arms. "So, how well do you know my cousin? Asides from the fact that you didn't know she was a she." He did feel slightly bad about putting the dragon on the spot, but damn it, he had to protect his cousin somehow. OOC: ::cough:: that's a loaded question if I ever saw one ::snickers::

"How well do I know Chris? Well... Not so much on a personal level. H-She hasn't told me too much about herself, but that's how people are sometimes, so I didn't think of it. She's a nice girl and I was hoping to get to know her better. " He nodded before going on.
"She's a good addition to the team. As a team leader, I think that it'd be a shame if she wasn't allowed to use her abilities after she recovers. As a friend, I hope she can forgive me for screwing things up this royally."
He knew he was probably saying things that he normally wouldn't admit to, but it felt as if they had to be said. As if the situation called for it to be said.

: Brian nodded as he listened to the dragon prince speak. He was silent for a long moment before clearing his throat. "You aren't in love with her, are you?"

"Ah... I'm afraid I'm already taken by another lovely lady. But Chris is both my responsibility and a friend, so you can understand my concern." He looked over at Brian and looked rather somber.
"Friendship, loyalty, and responsibility are very important to me, even if it might not be apparent to you."

: Again Brian nodded. "Good, because if you ever think about dating my cousin, you had better hope I never find out that you hurt her in any fashion," he said. Quickly he changed gears. "Exactly what did my cousin tell you about the family? Color me curious."

"Not too much, really. I've met Peter, and I've been told a little about Gorbash, but aside from the names of a few other people, that's all. Although I'm not entirely new to the Magic Realm. When I was young, my family visited during one summer. But that being said, I don't remember too much from then."
He thought back to that summer, or what he could remember of it. He vaguely remembered a girl who was around his age that he had played with, although her name escaped him. Something with a C, he thought...

: Brian nearly dropped his cousin. "You're Lyon!?" he cried, shocked. "Sweet Antiquity! You're the one who my cousin kept gushing about when she was a child!" Brian found it very hard to keep his composure after that revelation.

"THAT WAS CHRIS?!" He sounded just as shocked. "Now that... Did she really?" He couldn't help but ask about this. As a kid, he never expected to see her again and to find out that she'd been right under his nose...! Well... Things were getting interesting.

: "Oh, yes. Let's see, there were the times she ranted about how you pulled her hair and various other little boy stunts to get the female away from you. And then, the minute you called her 'fairy princess', well, she couldn't help but start blushing and stuttering. If it wasn't so cute, I would have been ill for days."

He laughed, a little embaressed of the antics of his younger self. "Well... We were kids..."

: "Of course, she was devestated when you left and never contacted her again. Broke her heart," Brian said quietly. "She thought you hated her and that you never really wanted her as a friend." And it had been Brian that had to listen to his cousin weep over the loss - it had been Brian that tried to patch a broken heart. It was then - during the times he had to comfort his distraught cousin - that he chose to be her champion, to protect her from another heartbreak.

"It isn't as if it was my choice to never talk to her again." He wasn't going to take the blame for a situation he had no control over.
"My parents were raising me to rule and already had an arranged marriage set up for me. They didn't want me to end up with some one who didn't fit their plan. Not that it matters much now. So whether I wanted to stay in contact or not was not up to me."
