"What's wrong with her?" Layla thundered, her voice incredulous. "You actually have the nerve to ask what's wrong with her. God, you're more of a jerk than I thought!" Jabbing Sky in the chest with her finger, Layla retorted angrily, "Listen here, Sky, no, Bloom is not perfect. No, she is not always going to say or do the right thing - and yes, get this, she may actually annoy you every once in awhile. But listen to this - I think it will really blow your mind - she's human. Only human, Sky. She makes mistakes. That doesn't mean something is wrong with her, got it? Now, what the real problem might be is the fact that you don't feel the same way about her anymore, is that it? Well, guess what? It happens. People break up, Sky. It's called life. Believe it or not, I'm not going to be mad at you if you said, 'Hey, Layla, I'm not into Bloom anymore, so I've decided that I need to break things off.' Do you know what I am mad at? I'm mad that you had the nerve to go around behind her back because you are too chicken to tell her how you feel! There's nothing wrong with wanting to date someone else - there is something wrong with pretty much cheating on them. So there Sky - are you happy? That is why I don't like you."

Sky's face was frozen in fear as he watched Layla explode with anger before him. As she finished her tirade, he tentatively replied, "But I never cheated on Bloom . . . that was what I wanted to talk about - that Winx Weekly article. It gave the wrong impression about what was going on-"

Christine's head turned in the direction of the argument, her interest barely there. But it was just enough to break her from wallowing in self-pity. She didn't say anything, didn't alert the pair to her being there. And she knew that her heart was going to shatter as soon as Sky told Layla that there was nothing between them.
"I was right all along," she whispered to herself, ignoring Tash's presence. "He became my friend to mock me later."

"So that article wasn't true in the slightest," Layla asked, her voice chilly. "You can honestly tell me that there wasn't even a hint of truth behind it? That that girl mentioned means nothing to you? That you don't have feelings for her? Or better yet, that you've never met her in your life? That it was all just fabrications and gossip?" When Sky remained silent, Layla taunted, "What now, Sky? Trying to think up your lies? Save it; I won't buy them. So just save us both some time instead and tell the truth for once."

"I," Sky began weakly, "I don't know what to say. I mean, yes, I know the girl in the article - her name is Christine. But . . . I never did anything with her! I never physically cheated on Bloom, I swear. But yes, I do have some feelings for Christine - but I never acted on them. Not really. I know I must have led her on in some ways . . . I'm just so confused. I love Bloom; I really do. But there's Christine and she's wonderful too. And I don't know what to do. I've made such a mess of things, Layla."

Layla snorted in disgust. "God, you're pathetic, Sky. What do you expect from me? Sympathy? A shoulder to cry on? I'm not exactly the person for that - remember, I'm Bloom's friend, not yours. And you know what, I feel sorry for Bloom because she probably doesn't even know what's going on. I feel sorry that she has you for a boyfriend, I really do. I can only hope that she comes to her senses and sees you for what you are. And then she'll dump you and your problem will be solved: no more Bloom equals no more confusion and you'll be free to run around with whomever you please. But you know, now that I think about it, I also feel sorry for Christine. Whoever she is, I bet she deserves more than to be led to believe that you have feelings for her. Maybe she'll find out about your true nature too - and hey, then you won't have to worry about being in such distress because there won't be a girl to cause it." Shaking her head, Layla finished, "Believe it or not, but I'm a good judge of character, and you, Sky, are nothing more than a pure beast. Grow up, would you?"

Christine took that moment to move from Tash's side and walked over. "I suppose I should introduce myself. I'm Christine," she said quietly. "I wish we met under better circumstances." She paused and looked at Sky. "I guess I was right all those years ago. You were my friend and then used our friendship to mock me."

Layla's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Wait? You're Christine?" Quickly glancing over at Sky, Layla then returned her attention back to the girl. "The Christine?" Looking back to Sky and seeing him give a discreet nod, Layla smiled faintly and said, "Ah . . . so I suppose you heard everything Sky and I were talking - no, should I say, yelling, about. Well . . . this is kind of awkward."

Tash got up and stood by the wall waiting to see what would happen. She was used to being ignored until she got their attention, she would wait to see how this was going to go before she interupted. Tash knew she was not going anywhere until this was solved. She didn't really give a damn about the others but Christine was friend, and Tash was going to be there for her. Tash made a mental note to find out what was with the only friends to mock me line.

"Awkward would be an understatement," Christine said quietly, giving Layla a wry smile. "Once again, I wish we had met under better circumstances." She slowly extended her hand in an offer of friendship.

Under his breath Palladium spoke a reversal spell to stop the snow from falling over his head. Most likely, one of the pixies thought it would be fun to play jokes on him, however, he was not quite so amused - especially now that Griselda had made her way over to him and Cora. Sighing to himself, Palladium knew without a doubt that Griselda would try to stir up some kind of trouble. Hearing his friend reply to Griselda's introduction, Palladium smoothly interjected to prevent her from harassing Cora, "How are things these days, Griselda?" "As well as can be expected when there are students at this school," Griselda scowled. She realized what she said sounded a bit contradictory, but continued. "I was just meeting your friend, Cora." Giving Cora a shifty glance with her eyes, she added, "Your long time friend, yes?"

Turning her head to see who Brandon was talking about, Karina felt her cheeks flush as she noticed that there was indeed a guy looking in her direction. Looking back at Brandon, she answered nervously, "Maybe I will go ask him to dance. What's the worst that can happen, right?" Hearing the song end, Karina stepped out of Brandon's arms and started to turn away. Pausing, she reached out and squeezed his hand, and said with a gracious smile, "Thanks for the dance." "Good luck," Brandon replied as he squeezed her hand back and moved off to find his next dance partner.

"Good luck," Brandon replied as he squeezed her hand back and moved off to find his next dance partner. "I'M YOUR NEXT DANCE PARTNER!" the eccentric girl with braids announced. "I'll be quiet now! Unless you want me to talk. I can do this babbling thing!" The girl didn't seem truly obnoxious, more like overly enthusiastic.

Giving Cora a shifty glance with her eyes, she added, "Your long time friend, yes?" Juliet DuFour was normally content to sip her tea with the other ladies and stay out of conflict. But Griselda and Palladium were both her friends, and she didn't need to listen to another disagreement. (Moreover, her headache couldn't take another disagreement, listening to Layla, Sky, and Christine's conversation.) Quietly, she tapped Griselda on the shoulder. "Griselda dear, would you care to help me with lesson plans?"

The calm voice of Mrs. DuFour just sent a wave of rage through Griselda. "I'm busy," she grunted back. What she really meant was, "Get lost. The last time I listened to you, I ended up taking one too many happy drinks and got distracted. No distractions. Get AWAY."
