Usually Layla wasn't an overly compassionate person, but seeing her friend's exhausted expression tugged at her heartstrings and made her wish that she was better at cheering people up. She simply wasn't cut out for this type of role - if anyone was, it would be Flora with her soft voice and perfectly chosen words. Pushing those thoughts aside, Layla stood up - perhaps right now the best thing she could do would be to leave her friend alone.
Turning to Flora, Layla smiled and said, "Do you need anything? Some herbal tea? A snack?" Biting her lip she continued, "But more importantly, you should try to get some sleep before you attempt doing anything else, okay? If you want, I can bring Piff to you now."

"A cup of cinnamon tea. I think I left a tea bag in the teapot so you just need to add hot water," she said softly. "And Layla, thank you for being so understanding." She smiled shyly.

"Just consider it my job to get you back into top shape," Layla replied cheerfully. "Now, I'm going to run and get you that tea - be back in a flash."

Flora smiled and pulled a small stuffed elf doll (one that did not resemble the professor) - it was in the shape of an elf she had heard of in fairy tales. Something involving dragons and fairy princesses, all sounding so romantic. She hugged it for a moment before setting it back down.

After a little while Layla returned with a tray awkwardly decorated with a small lace cloth, a vase containing a few flowers, a teapot, two cups and a plate of sugar cookies. "I got a bit carried away . . . I was just down in the kitchen to get the tea and then I saw these other things lying around and I thought you might enjoy them." Smiling sheepishly Layla admitted, "But I sort of forgot that I'm not very - ummm . . . crafty? So it didn't really turn out quite so well." Laughing as she placed the tray next to Layla, "But it's the thought that counts, right?"

Flora smiled. "Thanks, Layla. You're the best," she said, picking up the cup of tea and sipped it slowly. "I just hope everything turns out for the best."

"You've just got to relax, you know? Things have a way of working out if you let them be. And if that's not comforting enough," Layla began jokingly, "I could always go off, find Tecna and bring her back here to rattle off some statistics about how there is a very good chance that everything will turn out good."

Flora laughed. "I'm sure Tecna come up with at least a half dozen statistics for just about anything." She had a small smile on her face. "I doubt he even feels the same way... So.. I just need to find out how Helia reacted." At that her emotions returned to a low.

"Don't worry about Helia tonight - you've got enough on your mind." Pausing, Layla ran a finger around the rim of her teacup, in a way that suggested mild discomfort, "I think that if you're still planning to go see the professor tomorrow, maybe you should hit the sack now - it's getting kind of late." Layla leaned over to give Flora a good night hug and said, "I hope that that tea I made you won't keep you up too late, you know, with all that caffeine." But Layla knew that if anything would keep Flora awake tonight, it wasn't going to be the tea.

"Thanks, Layla," Flora said, yawning sleepily. "You're the dearest friend I have at this moment." She yawned again, closed her eyes and tried to fall asleep.

Quietly, Layla crept out of Flora's room, shutting the door behind her with an almost inaudible click.
