Flora sank down on her bed, buried her face in her pillow and wept. Why couldn't she remember anything - like relationships and school related things? She hated having blanks in her memory.
She sniffled quietly when she heard the door open. "Yeah?" she asked, her voice shaking a bit.

"Hey," Layla said cheerfully as she entered the room. "I just wanted to see if you-" As Layla saw that Flora had obviously been crying, her forehead creased immediately in worry. Sinking to her knees next to the bed, Layla asked concernedly, "Hey, what's wrong?"

"I hate this, Layla," she sobbed. "All these blanks in my memory." She couldn't stand the not remembering. "I went and spoke to the professor and... Somehow I got the feeling that he likes the fact that I can't remember..."

Moving to sit next to Flora on the bed, Layla soothingly stroked her friend's back as she replied, "And why would he like it that you don't remember? That seems like an awfully cruel thing for him to wish."

"If I can't remember, then there's no romantic tension between us and he doesn't have to worry about his job being in danger. I don't think he really cares that it hurts me not to remember..."

Not sure what to say, Layla settled on remaining quiet, knowing that Flora probably had a lot on her mind that she needed to get out. There was a time for talking and there was a time for listening. And in Layla's opinion this was definitely a time for listening.

She sniffled quietly. "I don't remember my relationship with Palladium. Forget trying to remember the relationship I'm supposed to have with Helia," she said bitterly. "As for school... I took a look at the textbook for this year's class... I don't even know what we're covering. I barely remember last year's material."

Offering Flora a warm smile, Layla nudged her shoulder lightly as she said, "Don't worry about the material; I'll help you. Besides, you're smart and you always did great in the Professor's class, so I doubt it'll be that hard for you to relearn that stuff. And as for your relationships, just try not to focus on them or I think you'll drive yourself crazy. I don't think you can force yourself to remember - but I think if you just go with the flow, they'll come back to you naturally in due time."

"I suppose you're right, Layla," Flora said quietly. "I just wish I didn't have to wait for my memories to come back." She brushed her golden bangs off her forehead. "And thank you.." She offered the other girl the faintest of smiles.

Nodding, Layla replied teasingly in hopes of lightening the mood, "Of course, I'm right, silly. I mean, come on, have I ever been not right?"

Flora laughed quietly. "I can't," she paused before shaking her head. "Not continuing that thought."
