Waking

[kevyn]

Kevyn slept on the floor by Eris-an's bed, half sitting half laying, holding his hand. She'd been sitting awake for days by his bed, praying, begging, that the Gods take pity on the young man and return him to them. The others had drifted in and out over the course of the wait, Kaelin had even sat with her for an evening. Mali had made Kevyn's excuses at school and either she or Quinn dropped in to make sure she got her homework. Not that Kevyn had really even looked at it, much to the annoyance of Mali.

Finally a few hours ago she'd just crashed, but a pressure on her hand woke her. Looking up blearily Kevyn watched the Prince for movement, sure she'd imagined it. After a while she settled back down, of course she'd imagined it. Just as Kevyn was drifting off she felt it again, this time it was more then a squeeze. Excited Kevyn got to her knees. "Ris?"

Eris-an felt a pull, as if he was being drawn out of some great void. Slowly his senses came back. First hearing, Gods that beeping was annoying. Second smell, starile... hospital... why?. Third feeling... oh yeah that would be why. Was someone holding his hand? Eris-an tried to gather the strength to tighten his hold, the first try was not much of a success but as he woke more the second was enough to tell him that yes, someone was holding his hand. Finally Eris-an opened his eyes, only to slam them shut again right away.... why the hell did hospitals always have such bright lights???

Hearing Kevyn's voice, Eris-an opened his eyes again, slowly this time. Giving himself time to adjust. Unable to find his voice at the moment Eris-an just smiled at her.

Kevyn sighed in relief seeing Eris-an open his eyes and smile weakly at her. "I'm going to get the Doctor." she told him, "I'll be just a moment." leaving for the door Kevny looked back over her shoulder, "Welcome back."

[kaelin]

"Hey," Kaelin greeted as he grabbed on to one of Kevyn's shoulders before she ran into him. "Since your giving up your virgile I assume he's woken?" Kaelin inquired, holding up a mug so not to spill the contents.

[kevyn]

Kevyn's 1000watt smile was the best she could give at the moment, it was hard enough not to go running down the halls screaming for joy as it was. Seeing a nurse pass, Kevyn's hand snatched out and grabbed her. "Tell Doctor O'Connell that Eris-an of Arilas has just woken up." Kevyn ordered before the nurse could protest the slightly rough treatment.

The nurses eyes widened, "He woke?" she asked, wanting to make sure that the girl hadn't snapped under all the pressure she'd been under. The nurse was a regular to that room and knew that there was no way in hell that boy was supposed to ever wake up, of course they hadn't told the family that but the staff knew the waiting game for that patient was one of 'waiting for him to die' not the usual 'waiting for him to wake up.' His injuries had been that bad.

"That's what she said. Go take a look if you want." Kaelin offered, pulling Kevyn to the side so the stunned woman could go in and see for her self.

[Random NPC]

The nurse, still thinking Kevyn had lost it, did in deed check herself. Comming out of the room moments later she look positivly stunned, "I'll get the Doctor now." she said absently, as she passed them. Walking a little faster then one normally would.

[kaelin]

"Now that you've officially scared the hosital staff. Tell me what happened." Kaelin urged, leading Kevyn back into the room before Kevyn did run down the halls in glee.

[kevyn]

"I was asleep and he woke be up." Kevyn said grinning.

[kaelin]

"Did he say anything?"

[kevyn]

Kevyn shook her head. "Not yet but..." they entered the room, "What the hell do you think you're doing!" she exclaimed, seeing Eris-an attempting to stand by the bed.

[erisan]

"Standing." Eris-an gasped out as he grasped the side of the hospital bed, lest he fall on his butt.

[kaelin]

"We can see that, what she wants to know is why." Kaelin retorted, moving to stand by the prince because it didn't look like Kaelin was going to be able to get Eris-an back in the bed and Kaelin wasn't particularly fond of the idea of having to pick Eris-an off the floor.

[erisan]

"Because I want to." Eris-an retorted.

[kaelin]

"Helpful." Kaelin drolly remarked before adding, "Sit down before you fall down. The Doctor's going to love you, first he didn't think you'd live and now your standing minutes after waking."
Kaelin grinned, having known all along from the nurses behavior around Kevyn that they had expected the prince to die. "What's your hurry?"
