OOC: this is Darcy's disguise for the moment: : Darcy walked into a club and settled down in a dark corner, so much the better. She liked her dark corners that kept people from spotting her. She had to admit her little illusion spell was one of her better ones. She tipped her shades and watched the smiling happy people and fought the urge to gag. She hated happy, perky people - hated them with a passion. She picked up the glass the busboy left for her and swished the contents before drinking them slowly, savoring the taste. Hm... The good alcoholic stuff. She missed this. Heh, she'd have to remember this cozy little dive. Oh, hello... Was that? Yes! Oh, and damn he looked fine. She signalled the busboy over and whispered something in his ear, and gestured at the young man who sat down six tables to her left and up. OOC: Tags, Riven

Seated at the club, Riven reclined in his booth, his face displaying nothing but pure boredom. Every once in a while, he picked up his glass and took a deep swig of its contents before slamming it down on the table and motioning for the busboy to bring him another.
Idly, Riven glanced around at the other customers. Most everyone there had come in clusters - probably to have a 'night out on the town.' He was practically the only one who had come alone. Not that he cared. He preferred it this way. Tonight he wasn't in the mood for chit-chat; he just wanted to be alone with his thoughts. Fortunately, as of yet, no one had disturbed him but the busboy. He attributed this to the fact that for the majority of the night he had fixed his face into a severe scowl, knowing that only the very brave would dare to approach him when he was in such a mood. Luckily for him, so far everyone had proved to be cowards.
It was all just for show, though. He wasn't really angry, despite how it may look to the untrained eye. It was just that the last thing he wanted right now was to have some ditzy girl slide in next to him, bat her lashes, giggle insipidly, and then ask him to dance and to buy her a drink -
And speaking of the devil, Riven groaned inwardly, it looked as though his luck had run out. Some pink-haired bimbo was obviously trying to catch his attention - unfortunately for her, he wasn't interested. Moving in his seat to look at her directly, Riven fixed her with a long, cold glare before turning back to his drink. That would end that.

: Oh, wasn't that just precious. Puppy dog was trying to intimidate her. She threw back her head slightly and laughed softly. She stood up and walked over. She sat down opposite him, and dropping her illusion so only he could see who she was. "Missed me, puppy dog," she drawled. Truth be told, she *did* miss him. But that would be admitting just a little too much for her to admit. Granted, she had been using him - but she did like him. He was cute. In that broody sort of way. Oh darkness, she was such a little fairy when it came to her feelings for him. Ugh, did she really still have that crush on him. Damn it.

Momentarily stunned, Riven quickly recovered by concealing his shock with a sneer. In a low voice, he demanded, "What do you want, witch? Don't you have some kind of havoc to be wreaking? Why come bother me? Because the last time I checked, I was nothing but your little pawn. Well, if it's my services you need, think again. I'm through with you. You don't have power over me anymore."

: To that she simply sighed. "It's my day off," she said simply, giving him a light shrug. "Contrary to popular opinion, I don't like doing the destruction thing twenty four seven. I do like to relax and have a good time." She crossed her arms and sulked ever so slightly. "And I didn't want you to do anything... except have a drink or two. That's it."

Riven narrowed his eyes as he started to stand up. She seemed sincere, but this was Darcy, after all. Nothing about her was sincere. She always had a motive. And contrary to what she might say, destruction was her life. He wasn't buying it for one minute that she wanted to just 'kick back and relax.'
Leaning over to pick up his jacket, Riven replied coldly, "Well, I'm sorry to say that you're out of luck; I've had enough drinks for the evening. I'm outta here."

Darcy lowered her eyes. "All right," she said quietly, not feeling the urge to make a scene. She just seemed "drooped". She hugged herself slightly, trying to not seem so upset. Damn it, why did Riven make her feel like a "good" witch. She could feel Darkar bitching in the back of her head, but damn it, she wasn't in the mood to listen to him. "I... guess... it was nice to see you..."

Inwardly surprised that she didn't put up a fight, Riven reminded himself that this was probably her trap. She was obviously trying to trick him into feeling safe with her . . . and damn it all to hell, it was working. For the first time in his life, Riven wished that he could be one of those people who could read others' emotions. An empath? He wasn't sure if that was the right term - not that it really mattered or anything.
Glancing back over his shoulder at Darcy, Riven clenched his jaw, knowing that he was probably going to regret this at some point, before he turned back around and lowered himself into the booth. Avoiding her gaze, Riven said tautly, "One drink. That's it."

: Darcy glanced up at him and gave him the ghost of real, honest smile. "All right," she said quietly. She gestured over to the busboy and whispered something in his ear. She blushed all the way to the roots of her hair at a lewd comment the busboy made about her drinking companion.

Eying Darcy out of the corner of his eye, Riven felt his mind flash back to that first time they had 'dined' together. She had been different then; he could see it now. That first time she had been using him - all of her flattering comments, the way she had touched his arm, looked at him over the tops of her glasses and arched her brow had all been for show. She had baited him, played him for a fool.
But tonight . . . Riven observed her carefully as he inwardly wondered if this was for real. Tonight she was different. There were no games - at least, none that were visible to him. Feeling a surge of cynicism shoot forth, Riven wondered if perhaps this was her new game. Darcy knew that she could play him - but she wasn't stupid enough to think that he would fall for the same game twice. This was probably what he had thought it was in the first place. A trap.
As the busboy brought their drinks, Riven remained wordless, deciding it best to let her do the talking.

: She looked over her glass, concern reflecting in her golden eyes. "Look, I don't do the whole playing fair bit so this is a bit new for me." She sighed. "Darkar has plans to attack Alfea to get their Codex. So... better let your fairy girlfriend to get out so she doesn't get hurt." She looked back down at the table. "He.. also has plans to get this seer. Said she knows the key to enter after he gets the Codex pieces. He's going to offer her something that she can't refuse."

At Darcy's words, Riven snapped his gaze to hers. Frowning, he asked carefully, his voice devoid of any emotion, "Why are you telling me this? And why should I even believe what you're saying? I mean, what's it to you if anyone at Alfea gets hurt?"

: "Because I'm tired of being a pawn of either Darkar or Icy. I'm tired of fighting. Just once, I want to do something that doesn't end up with someone hating me." She lowered her eyes again. "I guess, that time in Do-Gooder Camp has me wanting to be a better person. It's weird, you know."

"You? A pawn?" Riven asked incredulously. Shaking his head, he said with raised brows, "I don't buy it." Not realizing that his voice had softened slightly, Riven continued, "You're too smart to let them control you - you always have been. I think you've always let them think that they're in charge - but you've never been one to be under anyone's thumb." Closing his eyes briefly, Riven muttered almost inaudibly, "Especially mine. God, I was an idiot back then to think that you actually lik-"
Realizing that he was letting his guard down, Riven scowled before he quickly resumed his indifferent facade. Trap. Trap. Trap. He just had to keep reminding himself of it. That was the only way he could be safe with her no matter what appearances seemed to say.

: "Look, Icy's the oldest so what she says goes, no matter what," she pointed out. "So, sometimes, I have no choice but to follow. You honestly think that just because we're sisters that she wouldn't threaten either Stormy or me with her magic. Because, she can and does." She looked a little defensive. "And don't start me on him. Icy practically worships the ground he hovers above or walks on or whatever. She wants to be his main witch so bad. Ugh. Something about him just makes my skin crawl." She sighed quietly. "I rather not see anyone get hurt this time."
