Christine pulled her winter cloak closer to her as she stepped carefully over the broken branches and other assorted broken bits and bobs that lined the forest outside Red Fountain. He was in a fine temper this morning, she noted bitterly as she had to push a branch out of her way - one that had nearly been ripped off the tree. And to think she still loved him after he showed these awesome displays of temper. It wasn't her fault that she hadn't been able to get the words out - the words that would have broken Ribestaus's curse on him. No, the fault for that lay squarely on Byron's shoulders - with his slashing her throat during the coronation, they had managed to save her life but not her voice. And without her voice - the words remained unspoken, even if they were felt, even if it was common knowledge between the pair and everyone under the sun. She still loved him - still made her way down from the safety of Red Fountain to the forests surrounding the school every day, every day to check up on him.
She leaned against a tree as she waited for him to turn and see her. Hopefully, he'd be happy to see her - and would hold her like he used to do. She missed him - she truly did.
