"My guess is as good as yours," Sky snapped back. "But please, for the love of god, don't try to blame this all on the tabloids. I'd like to think that you're smart enough to know that whatever is causing us to fight runs deeper than just some stupid gossip."

"Maybe I really love you and I found out that you're too.. too..." her voice trailed off and her cheeks went crimson.

"Too what?" Sky asked flatly, all traces of emotions having left his voice. "Go on, tell me, Christine: what am I 'too much' of, hmm?"

"Stubborn, arrogant, vain, egotistical, self-righteous, stubborn, pig-headed," she said, purposely ticking off his worst traits before hitting his positive ones, "protective, loving, handsome, caring, defender of strays and orphans." She paused a moment. "And too damn sexy for his own good." Her cheeks tinted pink at that last admission.
And a soft "too perfect" escaped her lips. "Something a foolish little halfbreed could never have." Once again, she found herself putting herself down. It was a common habit she had - a bad one at that. Her eyes had been fixed on the ground when she called herself a foolish little halfbreed and she slowly raised her eyes to see how he reacted to that. She had a feeling he wasn't going to disagree with her.

Striding into the area that Sky and Christine were occupying, Riven's shoulders began to shake with laughter as he began somewhat incredulously, "Well, would you look at that? It's true what everyone's been saying! You are a wolf, Sky." Not realizing that he had interrupted a private conversation - and even if he had known, he probably wouldn't have cared - Riven stood over Sky as he peered closer, as though he still couldn't believe it. "I have to say, Sky, you've done a bunch of outrageous things in the time that I've known you, but this without a doubt takes the cake. Now what I want to know is how you managed to get yourself turned in a wolf! So go on, pray tell me what happened. I'm sure it'll be very entertaining."

"Sky was bitten when he was younger," Christine said quietly. "And can we not talk about it? Sky and I nearly got killed because of it."

Riven whistled under his breath and replied, directing his attention to Sky, "That's intense, man." Ignoring Christine's request to not speak further of it, Riven prodded his friend, "So, what are you now, Sky, cursed or something?"

Sky laughed light-heartedly in response to Riven's comments, glad that his friend wasn't making a big deal about him being a wolf. Even more, Sky was glad that Riven had arrived just when he had - it made it a hell of a lot easier to avoid Christine's remarks about being a half-breed. As it was, right now he just wasn't in the mood to pat her on the back and say that everything was going to be okay.
Turning his head to look at Riven, Sky replied with self-deprecating humor, "Yeah, you could say that I'm cursed - or you could say that I'm just one unlucky guy. Either way hits right on the button. I mean, first I'm turned into a dragon and now I'm a wolf - perhaps this is punishment for being so damn vain my whole life?"

Christine rubbed her arms, feeling very uncomfortable with the conversation. "Can we please talk about something different please?" she asked quietly. She felt a bit sick and really didn't want to deal with this. She could feel something tugging at the corner of her mind, wanting her attention. Her blue eyes glazed over and she found herself lost in a vision.

Not deaf to the sound of distress in Christine's voice, Sky turned his head slightly and asked out of habit, "Are you okay?" Not hearing a response, Sky turned his head so that he was looking directly at her. Seeing her glazed eyes, Sky froze for a moment, knowing what that sign meant - what it could only mean: a vision.

"Darkness descends on Alfea," Christine said quietly, her voice sounding distant. "The phoenix of darkness is there. Something's wrong... One of the fairies is fighting on his side... She's cursed someone, turning him into a beast, a monster." A fine line of sweat dampened her forehead and tears streaked down her pale cheeks. "No more, I beg of you..."

At Christine's words, Riven frowned. Turning his head slightly in the direction of Sky, he asked, his brows raised, "Uhhh, Sky . . . what the hell is she talking about?"
Inwardly, Riven's thoughts immediately flew to Musa as he heard Christine speak of the fairies. If what she was saying was true and if that Darkar was really at Alfea, Musa could be in harm's way . . .
Not waiting for an answer from Sky, Riven began striding away, calling over his shoulder, as he kept his voice deceptively cool, "I'm going to head over to Alfea to check on things. You know - just to be on the safe side."
Only when he was out of sight of his friend, did Riven realize that he had left Sky to take care of Christine - something that had the potential to be a problem as Sky wasn't exactly in a condition that would allow him to be of much assistance. Debating whether to return or whether to proceed to Alfea, Riven hesitated for a moment before continuing forward. At the moment he had a feeling that Alfea was in more danger than Sky and Christine and so that was where his priorities needed to be.

Christine struggled to pull herself free, tears continued to streak down her face. She could feel the darkness searching, calling and she was afraid. If Darkar could possess a seer... She shuddered mentally at the thought - or would have if she wasn't lost to the vision.
"He's so powerful... So dark," she whispered. "He has the power of nature on his side, a dark goddess." She trembled.

Sky's ears pricked at the mention of nature - she couldn't possibly mean Flora, could she? Squeezing his eyes shut, Sky tried to think of any other fairies that also derived their powers from nature, but he came up blank. Turning his attention back to Christine, Sky spoke urgently, "Christine, listen to me - I need you to focus. I need to know if you can see what the fairy looks like - the one who is fighting on the dark side. Can you describe her to me? Please - this is important. I-I think I might know her."

Christine's eyes closed tightly as she tried to see the fairy. "She's tan skinned, with golden eyes that were once green. Her hair is dark with two golden streaks." Tears continued to spill down her cheeks. "Please.... no more...."
