: "And you never thought to try and sneak around your parents' wishes?" Brian asked, arching an eyebrow. "And three years, it took me three long years to get her back to the way she was before you broke her heart." Three long, painful years.

"No! No, I didn't! I was a kid and things happened! Things that I didn't have ANY CONTROL OVER! And I'm sorry that things went the way they did, but I can't change that."
Sky glared at him in a way that made it obvious that he was getting very irritated.
"Do you think that maybe while YOU were having hard times that, I might have been going through somehard times as well?"

: Brian arched an eyebrow. "And what tough times were you going through?" he asked. He'd forgive him - some day. Just not now. The wounds were far too fresh. The last thing he needed was the pain that Christine went through to start all over again. The memories of a small girl, with a crown of flowers, weeping when no messages from her childhood playmate came for her were still too fresh.

OOC: And hopefully, this doesn't sound too.... Whiny? XD XD
IC: Sky had more than enough from Brian and his arched eyebrow. What tough times indeed! Why should he have to explain every intimate detail to Brian?! He'd felt his guilt, he'd done his 'time', Hell, he already considered being merged with a dragon as punishment from above for something he must have done.
"Why should I tell you?!" he snarled belligerently. "It's not as if hearing about my suffering would appease you, so why?" He was beginning to balloon in size and float a little.

: And at that moment, Brian was a bit shocked. "Um, Sky... I think you better turn your head and belch out some of that fire. You're starting to fly." Now was not the time for flying lessons.

"What?" He blinked momentarily. He was... flying? How could that be? But when he realized where he was, it was obvious that Brian was right. And he was flying higher and higher , too.
He did as was told turning his head and let loose the flames, which quickly propelled him to the ground at an uncontrollable speed. He "landed" with a loud thud and slightly shook the ground.
"Ouch..." He winced. A dragon he might be, but immune to gravity and pain, he was not. "And... ah... Thanks..."

: "Congrats, you just had your first flying lesson. Although, you need to work on your landings," Brian said. "But that'll be another lesson. Tomorrow. We'll let you recover from this one." Oh, dear, teaching a dragon how to be a dragon... how'd he get roped into doing that? Oh, right, the cause was lying in Brian's arms, still asleep. Brian silently wondered what the prince thought of his cousin - now that he knew the truth about her. "And now do we feel like talking about hardships? I promise to refrain on commenting. I won't even arch an eyebrow." Hopefully, Sky would give him answers to why he broke Chris's heart the way he did. "Because I can't see an arranged marriage as a hardship. I really can't. What, did someone try to kill you or something?" Again, tact was something Brian hadn't learned - but the odds of the dragon having enough fire to spit at him, well, given the crash, the odds were in Brian's favor that he didn't, that and he doubted Sky would try to fry him, what with Chris in his arms. Did he feel guilty about using his cousin as a shield... Just a little.

"I believe that year was 'affectionately' called 'The Year of Let's Kill Sky". So based on that, what's your guess?" He snorted back in annoyance.
“There were at least three attempts of assassination in the course of two months, as well as four failed kidnapping attempts. And those were the FIRST two months. It declined after I hadn't been killed or kidnapped, but to say the least, it was not fun.”

: "No offense to your guards, but they suck. Royally," Brian said. He shook his head in mild disgust at the actions of the knights/guards/what have yous. Brian shifted his cousin in his arms, trying to get her into a position that was not going to put his arms to sleep.

That comment earned a laugh from Sky. "I never said they weren't fired. You'd be amazed at how crafty people can become when they're desperate for power..."

: Brian's eyes glanced about the area, and finally came to rest on the hoard the dragon slept on. He walked over slowly and lay his cousin down on it. "No offense to my cousin, but she could stand to lose a few pounds," he muttered under his breath. Of course, the fact that his cousin was thin to begin with and Brian normally knew better - but he was still moody. He wished he could remove his armor but he wasn't sure if the dragon was friendly - after all, they had been arguing. "And of course, in between those times, he didn't think of writing her?" he muttered under his breath, not really caring if the dragon heard him or not. He cared more for his cousin's heart than this prince's.

Sky did hear him. He wondered vaguely if he 'accidentally' kicked Brian whether or not he'd be able to get away with it. How DID Chris put up with him for so long?
No, Brian was in luck. No matter how much of a jerk Brian came off as, he just couldn't. He wouldn’t be ready to fight back if Brian was able to still move. That and Chris couldn’t just walk back up to the Hospital by herself.

OOC: like Chris had any choice ::laughs:: : Brian cared for his cousin, deeply. He did love her, whether it was true love or the concept of loving her that he loved, well, that was open for debate. And he hated seeing her hurt or hurting. "Did he even care for you, little one, when the two of you were children?" Brian asked softly. "Would he have moved the world for you if you asked him to?" And once again, he didn't care if Sky heard him. He really didn't.

OOC: XD Gee, Brian. Thanks...
IC: "Would it really change anything? No matter what I say, it's not going to make you like me any more than you all ready do." Sky answered back nonchalantly. He was getting tired of all these questions.
Couldn't Brian just leave things as they were? The past is the past, nothing that Sky can do about it. And couldn't Brian just accept that Sky wasn't Lyon? Well, not any more, at any rate. Who he was and who he now is were different people.

: "Well, excuse me for trying to rationalize why you went from one day calling her your fairy princess to the next day when you forget she exists," Brian said, his voice raising in anger. "You were the first person outside the family got that close to her! And you broke her heart!" Brian didn't care if he told Sky hidden truths. "Hell, most of the letters to us before she got injured practically extolled your virtues. Hell, if your name had i's in it she would have dotted them with hearts! Hell, the current record of your name mentioned in one of her letters is six hundred and twelve... Give or take." Of course, the minute his cousin recovered... Brian shuddered. He'd be a dead man walking.
