"Crown retrieval? Not to make light of his condition and all, but if all that’s needed is a crown, I’d be willing to offer up my own. I’d even throw in my bloodline, since I honestly don’t want or need it.” She smiled wryly, and having seen that Brian had sat down and that Gorbash/Sky wasn’t responding for the time being, she sat down next to him.
“Although now that you’ve mentioned a quest, you’ve made me curious. Mind going into detail about it?”

: "My family would thank you for the kind offer, but it has to be Ommadon's crown. It's the source of all his magic - and the only thing that could awaken my cousin." Brian sighed quietly. "Ommadon won't hand over his crown if you simply ask for it - if it were that easy, well, there'd be no need to go on a quest." He paused a moment. "In order to retrieve the crown, you have to battle an ogre, a worm, a dark hand of depression, a flight of dragons and Ommadon himself. None of which are easy." He grimmaced. "In order to defeat Ommadon, one has to deny all magic. And I doubt there'd be anyone willing to deny that."

“If denying all magic would make my magic go away, I think I’d do it in a heartbeat. It sounds odd, I know, but life was better for me when I didn’t have access to it than it has been with it.” She sighed and shook her head.
“You have no idea how much better my life would be if I didn’t have magic. Of course, there’s not much I can do about that now, is there?” She looked to the ground.

: Brian arched an eyebrow. "And I thought all the women at that girls' school loved having their magic and that denying it would be denying a part of who they were. Strange," he said quietly. "I love my cousin, I truely do, but somedays I just wish to smack her upside the head with a thing of common sense. If she had only attended that all girls' school... She would have been safe." He glanced at the dragon, then back at the girl. "So, tell me, what brought you here?"

"Well, as you can see, not all. It's certainly useful, but it feels more like a burden than a gift. Of course, I say this based on my own background. Most of the other girls, obviously, would disagree. And as to why I'm here well... You can't depend on magic to always protect you, so I thought that it'd be a good idea to see the specialists put their training to work."
She glanced over at him for a moment. "As you can probably guess, Alfea doesn't stress physical combat, so short of sneaking into a class at Red Fountain, this is the best chance I've got to see different forms of defense and offensive fighting."

: Brian glanced over at the dragon again. "If you ask me, he seems a bit useless. Always sleeping. I don't know why Antiquity thinks he'd be a good leader for a quest. He doesn't seem like he'd do a bit of good." Of course, he was bitter. It was his cousin who had been affected by the sand merks, and if this prince had been an effective team leader, then he would have pulled Christine aside and told her that she would have to stay behind where it was safe. "That makes sense," he said, agreeing with her a bit. "That's one of the reasons my cousin attends here. She has little magic so she thought this school would be better for her. That and there's no real schools in either realm that her parents call home so.."

"Well, maybe that's the exact reason why antiquity chose him and not someone else. In order to realize his true potential he must over come adversity. Or at the very least wake up. Something that looks like it won't be happening anytime soon..." She snickered before realizing something.
"If, for whatever there might be, he wasn't able to lead the quest, what would happen? If he had ended up as a prince pancake, would a new leader have shown up or would be left to everyone else to deal with it?"

OOC: ::snort, giggle:: poor Sky, we're talking so badly about his character and he's not even here to defend himself ::giggle:: : "Alas, that last question was never dealt with. See, the last time that happened, Carolinus saved the hero, my cousin's stepfather, and nothing bad happened. Except said stepfather being merged with dragon," Brian said. He grimmaced. "I do hope you're right - what with having to realize his true potential. But that's a bit frightening."

OCC: Heh... Poor Sky indeed! XD ::Snicker:: Making fun of Sky is much better than having Rashiel be... emo... though. XD XD
IC:"Well, one can only hope. If there's anything that I've learned from my care taker when I was growing up is that sometimes all you have to go by is faith in that whatever's there is there, even if you can't see it. " She smiled, hoping to lighten up the mood a little bit.

: "However, if said potential includes sweeping my cousin off her feet, and I think he already has given by the sheer number of times his name was mentioned in her letters. I think the current record was six hundred and twelve, give or take, I will make sure he never reproduces."

Upon hearing this threat of what seemed to be castration, Rashiel burst out in laughter.
"Wow... Now that is a first. I don't think I've ever heard any man ever threaten castration before. Hear that, Dragon? Better stay away from his cousin once you're human again, if only for the sake of your manhood!"

OOC: I couldn't resist - Brian is the jealous type LOL : Brian felt down right pleased. "I'm overprotective of my cousin, I will admit that, and quite cheerfully." He settled down. "Besides, we knights have to defend our ladies' honor, otherwise, what good would we be?"

OOC: >D Just put some fairy wings on him and we may have a very good candidate for "The Castration Fairy".
IC: "I'm sad to say that Vulcania is very much lacking in knights. At the very least, the ones that we do have are lacking in the area of preserving and defending honor. Not that it’s a very big deal. Whatever honor I do have doesn’t need much protecting.”
She nodded, and had a hard time keeping a straight face. She was still recovering a little from her earlier laughter.

OOC: oh, that's sorely tempting... : Brian gritted his teeth at that. "A knight defends a lady, no matter what. Those who think otherwise should hang their spurs up because they most certainly do not deserve them." He glanced at the dragon and sighed. "Although... I suppose... if he makes her happy... then I suppose I could hold off on the threat of making sure he doesn't reproduce... But the minute he makes her unhappy or does anything that makes her unhappy or even *thinks* about doing anything that would make her unhappy - I will make sure he doesn't reproduce - ever."

"That's fine with me. You'll be the one who'll be enforcing that, not me. I wouldn't worry too much about that now though. Love does what it will, regardless of what everyone else wants. One of those truly capricious things, really."
She laughed. "And now I'm starting to sound far too romantic for my liking."
