Sighing, Palladium nodded as he said, "There probably isn't much use in the lot of you sticking around for the time being. I'll simply be devoting this morning to research and then in the afternoon I still have classes to teach, and to get right to the point, I have to warn you that it might be a while before I can come up with a solution." Quickly, he added to offset the grimness of this news, "But I promise, the moment I come up with an idea that might work, I will send for you all at once."

"Professor, since I have no classes today," Flora began quietly. "Perhaps I could help you with the research. After all, in this case, two heads might be better then one."

"I'm afraid that this may be a bit out of your realm, Flora" Palladium said with a thin smile. "In fact, I believe that the only one who may be able to be of assistance is Ms. Faragonda herself." Casting an apologetic look at the group, he continued, "If you all will excuse me, I think I will go try to track her down to discuss matters. You're welcome to stay here if you like - just," at this Palladium winced at the mess his collection of various potions had become after Angelique and Brandon had scoured around the room, "try not to break anything."

Holding a hand to her mouth to hide her yawn - she was dead tired from a night of fitful sleep - Stella absently listened to Palladium talk, his voice going in one ear and out the other. Her thoughts had turned inward and she again found her eyes drawn to Brandon, wondering what was going through his mind and how it was possible that all memories of her had been blocked out from his stream of consciousness.
She missed him. And it was made all the more horrible because of the fact that he was being dangled right before her and yet she had to keep silent. Somehow, when Brandon had gone missing, she had thought that having him nearby would be the best thing possible, but now, she realized that that wasn't the case. Having him this close to her and yet having him also not know who she was was somehow worse than not knowing where he was at all, however horrible that sounded. Because now she was forced into accepting that he wasn't thinking about her, that he hadn't been able to fight to get back to her. That she wasn't the most important person in his life at the moment. That this Angelique girl probably was.
Briefly closing her eyes, Stella tried to console herself with the notion that it wouldn't be that way much longer. That once Brandon was returned to his human form, he would snap out of whatever feelings he may have developed for Angelique. But somehow she wasn't so sure that that would happen.
. . . and what was worse, because she wasn't sure, a part of her almost wished that they wouldn't be able to find a solution, a way to return him to his normal form. At least not yet. Not until she had found a way to digest the idea that Brandon's feelings for Angelique might not just vanish into thin air upon being returned to his normal state.
It was the one thought she kept coming back to, and each time she did, Stella felt as though a little more of her crumbled on the inside.
