She arched a delicate eyebrow. "I take you've met princesses who weren't?" she asked in all innocence. She smiled a bit. "I thank you for the compliament." She blushed shyly.
She glanced down at his leg. "How's your leg feeling? Do you think you can walk on it?"

OOC: advancing ahead a bit
Christine sat under a tree, weaving a crown of flowers. Lyon had gone off on some sort of male only adventure with Brandon and had left her behind - much to her displeasure. She sighed sadly and stared at the mangled flowers on her lap - her flower weaving skill leaving much to be desired. "I guess he forgot about me," she said sadly to herself. "I was okay to be friends with while he was recovering but as soon as he's recovered, he's back to ignoring me. I knew it was too good to be true."
Bitter tears streaked down her face. She knew it would have happened. Half-breeds weren't allowed happiness or friends apparently. She tried to stop crying and acting so weak but it was just not fair.

Sky peered down at Christine from the tree in which he sat above her head. He had started off the day with Brandon, but before they had even walked two feet away from the cottage, he had complained about having a stomach ache. And so, Sky had gone off alone, deciding to climb trees. In the midst of doing so, he had stumbled upon Christine and while he had intended to give her a scare, now he didn't have the heart to do it - now that she was crying and all.
Sure, he admitted, he had been spending a lot of time with Brandon, but what could he do? Abandon him? That wasn't fair to his friend, Sky decided diplomatically. But still . . . the least he could do was make sure Christine knew that it wasn't as though he was intentionally alienating her. It was just that some things he couldn't do with a girl. Like play villains and heroes. All girls ever wanted to play was fairy princesses . . . boring. No action there.
Shaking his head, Sky knew that he couldn't just leave Christine down there though - that, and he didn't really have a way to get down without calling attention to himself. And so, deftly, he jumped down from the tree and called out, "Hello, Christine! Lovely day, isn't it?"

She blinked and nearly let out a feminine high pitched scream when he landed in front of her. In mild anger, she threw her flowers at him. "Yes, a lovely day to give someone heart failure," she said, placing a hand over her heart to make sure it wasn't racing out of control - and it was going a bit fast due to the scare he gave her. She regarded him curiously. "Are you sure that's wise? The jumping out of trees? You don't want to reinjure that leg of yours."
She stood up and brushed the dust and dirt off her dress - not to mention shattered bits of flowers. "You have to be careful." She glanced about. "I don't see your shadow..."

Sky grinned, "Awwww, are you worried about me? How thoughtful of you!" Seeing that his teasing had no effect on Christine, he sighed and flung himself on the ground, "I'm fiiiiine. Really. My leg and I are on great terms again."
Ignoring her remark about Brandon, Sky reached over and picked up one of the flowers that had fallen to the ground beside him. Holding it up to Christine, he gave her his best puppy-dog face and asked in a sweet voice, "Now, do you forgive me for scaring you?"

Christine blushed and shyly took it from him. She pinned it in her long dark hair and giggled softly. She glanced around, trying to judge where they were. She grinned. "Can't catch me," she called over her shoulder as she took off running. She was going to have some fun with him - even if he didn't like playing with girls.

Not one to ever back down from a challenge, Sky called after her retreating back, "I can catch you any day. I can catch you even if I give you a thirty second head start - beat that!"
Seeing that Christine didn't seem to hear his words, Sky called out, "Hey! You're cheating! Penaltyyyyyyy!" Frowning, he began running, determined not to be out run by a girl as thin as a beanpole, whatever that meant.

Christine giggled as she ran through the forest, leading him on a merry chase. She had played there every summer so she knew the ins and outs, where to hide and where not to. It was an unfair advantage - but he was much taller and stronger than her so she had to find an advantage somehow.
She came to the river and without a second thought, removed her dress so all she had on were her undergarments and dove in.

Coming upon Christine's clothing, Sky's yelled out in one long breath, "You crazy wench! You're gonna drown in the river and I'm gonna laugh and not feel one bit sorry for you because what you're doing is stupid - plain stupid. You think you're gonna win this way? Nuh uh. It isn't gonna happen. Want to know why? I'll tell you why - I'm gonna be the bigger man and walk away because I'm smart enough to know that running around in your underwear is wrong. Just plain wrong. Good-bye Christine!"
Making crunching sounds with his feet, Sky walked a few feet away and then hid behind a bush that was perfect for keeping him completely out of view - but not before he had snatched up her clothing, taking it with him into his wonderful hiding spot.

Christine popped her head up and shook her long dark hair, trying to get it out of her face. "Silly boy, I've swam in this river before. I'm perfectly fine." She gave a dainty little snort and dove back under the water, content on swimming for a bit. She rarely got a chance to because her mother deemed it not appropriate when they had guests. Hell with that. She was going to swim.

Sky grinned. He knew that Christine thought that she had won . . . little did she know. Fighting back laughter, Sky decided that he didn't mind waiting - in fact, it would make his victory all the more sweet. When Christine finally did get out of the water, she'd need her clothes - and they wouldn't be there. But he would be. And then she'd have to get back in the river and stay there because no girl can stand in the presence of a boy in just her underwear - especially when they were soaking wet!
Sky laughed internally; so this is what sweet victory tasted like . . .

Christine came out onto shore an hour later and blinked. She was most decidedly going to kill that boy. "Lyon! You give me back my clothes this instant!" she snapped. She crossed her arms over her chest and silently fumed.

Sky waited until the perfect moment before leaping out of the bush with a great yell of triumph. Arching a brow as he approached her, Sky laughed, dangling her clothes over his head, just out of her reach, "Forgive me if I am mistaken, but aren't princesses supposed to wear clothing in the company of gentlemen?"

"Whoever said I was a prim and proper princess and whoever said you were a gentleman?" Christine asked, before kicking him in the shin, causing him to drop her clothing to clutch his shin. She stuck a small pink tongue out and went behind a tree to get dressed. "I pity whatever woman you marry. Because you're going to be insufferable."

Sky frowned, irritated by his loss to a girl; he may as well admit that he was a sore loser. "Well, don't worry one bit; after this summer you won't have to think about me at all or whether I do turn out to be insufferable or not." Shrugging indifferently, he added, "My family never vacations in the same place more than once, so you're in luck. You'll never have to see me again."
