Christine froze after she put her dress on. Tears streaked down her face. "I knew it. You were only being friendly to me so when you go back home that you can brag to all your schoolmates that you managed to hurt a half-breed." Her shoulders shook as she wept. "I'm not stupid. That's why I don't have any friends. They all think it's funny to mock the silly little half-breed."

"Why do you always have to bring that up," Sky asked, truly curious. "You know I'm joking, Christine when I say that you'll never have to see me again - I'm your friend, aren't I? And I never abandon my friends. But, I guess you wouldn't know that about me yet." Shrugging, he added, "But then again, there's a lot you don't know about me; so don't be so quick to judge." Pausing, he continued, his voice sounding genuinely hurt, "It's not fair to assassinate my character when I haven't done anything to deserve it. I've told you a million time: I don't care if you're a half-breed. Now it's up to you whether you believe me or not."

"Because that's all I ever hear when I'm at home or when I'm in my father's realm. That I'm just a half-breed and won't amount to much. I try so very hard but there's that stain already there. They don't care about what I can do, it's what I can't do that they focus on," she said quietly. "I guess I'm quick to judge because that's how everyone else is..."

"Well, you obviously dislike the people who judge you . . . so don't be like them." Sky replied as though it was the most obvious thing. Smiling, he flung an arm around her and added, "Besides, half-breed or not, you're more fun to be around than the whole lot of them - mainly because most pure-breeds seem to have sticks up their you know what."

Christine giggled softly and snuggled close to the princeling as he comforted her after having poured her heart out and having him reassure that he did like her and it wasn't because he could use their friendship to mock her later. She sighed quietly, resting her head on his shoulder. "When I get older, I want to attend Red Fountain," she said. "I want to see how they train dragons."

Sky shook his head and laughed. "You? Attend Red Fountain? You do know that it's an all boys school, don't you? They'd never let you in. Besides, I doubt that its anything that great. And if it is, I'll write to you all about it - my parents want to send me there when I'm older. Me? I don't really see the point in going."

(XD The irony is killing me)
Christine made a slight face at that. "I don't care. Someday they'll let girls in, and I'll be there," she said giving him a playfully haughty look before giggling. She sobered and looked at him. "Don't you want to learn to be a hero?"

Grinning, Sky replied, "Let me tell you something about being a 'hero' - you either are one or you aren't. You can't learn to be a hero. That's like saying someone can learn to be royalty. It just doesn't work that way. So I say, why waste my time learning to be a hero? I'm never going to really be one - I'm always going to be me. Lyon. That's it. None of that fancy-schmancy stuff for me."

Christine removed a small golden cross from around her neck and fastened it around his. "Well, you're my hero," she said firmly. "And a hero always wears his lady's colors." She blushed at her rather bold move. "But you don't have to if you don't want to..."

Not protesting as Christine slipped the cross around his neck, Sky asked, clearly confused albeit intrigued, "I'm your hero? Now tell me because I'd love to know, what exactly did I do that made me hero-worthy in your eyes, hmm?"

She just gave him a look. "You keep yelling at me whenever I bring it up," she said quietly. "You're one of the few people that actually, you know, treats me like I'm not a half-breed." She also gave him a haughty shake of the head before giggling. "Besides, have you forgotten I'm a seer? And.. I saw you fighting a battle to save me.."

Sky laughed outright, "You're telling me that someday I'm going to be in a battle?" Shaking his head, he replied jokingly, "Whatever you say, princess - but I'll tell you this, if I end up dying for you, I'm going to come back to haunt you because you know, my life is pretty awesome and I hate to give it up."

Christine gave him a hurt look and pulled away. She moved to spot a little further away from him, sat down and tucked her knees under her chin. "I can't see that far ahead. I just see small snippits," she said quietly.

"I know," Sky replied, giving her a sideways glance. "I was just teasing. You shouldn't take me so seriously, you know. I'm always messing around and I say the wrong things or whatever." Sky shrugged and then kicked at the ground, "That's just me."

"Oh," Christine said, looking a bit embarrassed. "Need I remind you that I never really interacted with kids my own age for reasons that would get me yelled at by you if I repeat them?" she asked, playfully teasing him - or at least attempting to.
She bit her lower lip and looked at him. "So... what do you think of my uncle Gorbash?"
