Layla grinned as she replied, "Of course I'm racing - partly because I love it and partly because I am determined to give these boys a reality check." Shaking her head, she said in an amused tone, "Can you believe that some of these guys still honestly think that all girls can do is sit around, primp their hair and bat their eyelashes?"

"Tell me about it. I have a bet going with Sky and Brandon. If racer 21, that would be me but they don't know it, beats Sky, he owes me, the person making the bet, dinner at the place of my choice."

"Count me in," Layla replied. "The way I see it, you'll beat Sky easily. Everyone makes him up to be this demigod, but I know better - he's good on his bike and all," at this Layla smiled, a twinkle in her eye, "but I'm sure we're better on ours."

"And Sky was silly enough to give me lessons on his bike," Christine said. "He never in his wildest dreams thought I'd take part in a race. Shows what he knows."

Layla laughed as she said, "He's definitely going to be in for a shock, now isn't he? I just have to make sure that I'm there to see his reaction because priceless moments like that don't come around too often. In fact, we should have someone ready with a camera to snap his picture so that we can cherish the moment for years to come."

"Maybe we could ask Tash to take the photos if she isn't racing," Chris ventured. "Or we could ask Stella or Flora?" She tilted her head slightly. "So, do you think we can beat Riven?"

"That depends," Layla said as she leaned against her bike. Lifting a brow, she asked with a smile, "How good are you? Because you're going to have to be really, really good to beat Riven. As much as I hate to say it because he can be the most chauvinistic guy out of the whole bunch, he really is the best. And if I remember correctly from what Musa has said, he even spent a whole summer at a camp that revolved around racing. Frankly, I think this," Layla gestured at the track, "is pretty much the basis of his entire life."

"Pretty good. I pretty much begged the guys to give me lessons since the instructors don't want to since I'm a delicate little female. Yeah, okay, and who takes a dragon wrangling class pretty much for fun? Oh, right, me."

"Well then, perhaps I have more competition than I thought," Layla said as she picked up her helmet. "When I checked the list earlier, I was pretty sure that there would be no question that the winner would be either Riven or myself, but if you're as good as you say you are, I better watch out."

"I promise to give you a nice run for your money," Christine said as she pinned her hair up and slipped on her helmet. She flipped up the visor and smiled. "Here's to the best team to win. Us."

"Just don't beat them to badly, boy's tend to be sore losers." Tash started, tucking her own hair under her helmet. "Oh, and I got Kevyn to agree to take pictures for posterity. Best of luck to the pair of you."

"Thanks, Tash," Christine said. "So, anyone have idea where they want to eat at if we win?" Christine asked, looking at Tash and Layla. "And wherever it is, let's make sure the boys have a hefty bill to pay," she added with a light laugh.

"I'm thinking something along the line of fine dining?" Layla asked, a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "Perhaps lobster, caviar, chocolate souffle - anything and everything expensive, eh?"

"Sounds like a plan to me," Chris said with a grin. "Now, let's make sure we beat the boys." She laughed. "Of course, Sky and Brandon don't know I'm racing so this should be extra entertaining."

"That's our cue." Tash said as the announcement came over the speakers. "All clues to who you are hidden under your gear?" Tash asked Chris as they moved to the starting line. It would be no fun if they knew who she was before the race even began.
