OOC: Post Sky's birthday party
Her head still spinning from what Layla told her at the party, Flora decided that her best bet was to go talk to the professor in question and find out what the devil Layla had been talking about.
Her? In love with him?
She paused outside his door and knocked once.

Startled by the sound of a knock at his door, Palladium frowned as he looked up from the book of ancient spells that he had been reading. Standing up, he slipped a loose sheet of paper into the book to keep his place, and then went to open the door.
As he pulled the door open and saw Flora, Palladium furrowed his brow as he said, "Flora . . ." Suddenly feeling uncomfortable for a reason he couldn't quite put his finger on, he asked, "Can I help you with something?"

"I, ah," she started, before blushing. "I was at Sky's birthday party and Layla told me something that I'm having trouble remembering. She said that I had feelings for you... I came to find out the truth..."
She looked upset. "I don't understand why I can't remember things like that. Well, not just that, but," she lowered her eyes. "I barely can remember some of the things we covered in your class..."

Hesitating for a few moments, Palladium then stepped aside to allow her into the room as he said quietly, "Well then, I suppose we have some things we need to clear up." Inwardly, however, his mind was swirling with thoughts - the main one being, why Flora was unable to remember that she had once harbored feelings for him. It wasn't that he thought so highly of himself that he felt that he should be unforgettable, but rather, it was just strange that all her memories of him seemed to simply be . . . gone.

Flora sat down in a chair opposite his desk. "Professor? Could my lack of memory be the result of amnesia due to Demeter's and Darkar's control?" she asked, looking completely confused. "I don't like having holes in my memory..."

Resuming his seat behind his desk, Palladium nodded grimly. "Yes, it is very likely; in fact, I should probably have suspected it earlier - but you didn't seem to show any signs that you were suffering from memory loss." Leaning back in his chair, Palladium eyed Flora critically as he asked, "How long have you had these holes in your memory? Or should I say, when did you first realize that you had them? Certainly you didn't just realize it, did you?"

"The relationship hole I found out at the party. Layla made a comment about my lovelife and I was completely at a lost as to what she was talking about. The school stuff happened when I picked up a textbook from your class and I had no idea what they were talking about. It was like looking at another language..."

Carefully ignoring the first part of Flora's reply, Palladium responded, "I am certain that with some extra tutoring and work you'll relearn the material without too much difficulty. As it is, my best suggestion would be for you to review the lessons with a friend who does well in my class - I believe Bloom would be a good choice as she usually has a relatively good grasp on the material."

Flora nodded slightly but arched her eyebrow. Why didn't he comment on the first bit? Was he hiding something? If so, what? OOC: I hit 1000

Knowing that Flora wanted answers about what had gone on between them, Palladium sighed as he clasped his hands together on top of his desk. Giving her a pointed look, he began, "I am going to be frank with you, Flora; at the beginning of the school year, you and I . . . we . . . well, there was some tension between us." Closing his eyes, Palladium rubbed his temples as he continued, "To make a long story short, it ended with me kissing you - and with Griselda finding out. I knew my actions were wrong because you were - are - my student. I offered to resign from my position here as a teacher, but when it came down to it, I was simply issued a warning to discontinue any such relationship with you. And since then, we have had a strictly professional relationship. Now then, does that answer your question?"

"Yes," Flora said quietly. She stood up slowly. "I... I better be getting back to my room. I think Layla said she'd help me get caught up in Professor Wizgiz's class." She had her best emotionless mask on so he wouldn't tell that her heart was hurting from what he told her.

Nodding Palladium replied, doing his best to sound unfazed as he reopened his book, "Very well; oh, and could you please close the door on your way out? Thank you."
Inwardly, however, Palladium was anything but calm. Flora's directness had thrown him - in all the time he had known her, she had never been so . . . forward. She had always been shy, and easily embarrassed that he just couldn't understand how she had managed to ask him about the status of their relationship without so much as coloring.
Sighing quietly, Palladium tried to focus on the words on the page of his book, but found that his mind kept wandering. Wandering back to Flora. Drumming his fingers against his desk in irritation, Palladium frowned. Perhaps it was best that Flora couldn't remember anything that had gone on between them. It'd be just as if the slate had been wiped clean. Fresh starts were always good, right?
