Cora flinched at the sound of the door closing behind Palladium. Shaking her head sadly, Cora leaned her head out the window, feeling intensely lonely and pathetic. Who had she been kidding? She should have known that whatever Lenwë had once felt for her had now been overshadowed by his feelings for one particular student. She might as well throw the towel in and go back to Athryell on the next train out. True, Athryell was a lonely place without Lenwë, but at least there she didn't make a bumbling idiot out of herself.
With a tired sigh, Cora shut the window and walked back over to the bed. Crawling beneath its covers, she closed her eyes, doing her best to block out all that had transpired between Palladium and herself in the last fifteen minutes. It was better to forget . . . As Cora drifted off to sleep, she vaguely made up her mind that the best way to fix the situation between Lenwë and herself was to pretend it had never happened. Then things could just go back to normal . . .
