Name: Rashiel Armatus
Age: 19, recently turned on November 11.
Powers: Earth manipulation, primarily minerals and dirt.
Originally from: The realm of Vulcania.
Information about Vulcania: Vulcania is roughly the same size of Earth, albeit its conditions are very different. The world can be divided into five general sections, which are the North and South Poles, the Northern and Southern Temperate Zones, and the Equatorial Tropics.
The majority of people who live in Vulcania live in the Tropics and Temperate Zones, as they are not permitted to enter the Poles with out expressed permission from the Royal Family. This ban from the Poles is due to the fact that the main export of Vulcania, can be found there. This export is the extremely rare metal known as Vulcanium, which also serves as the realms’ namesake.
However, in recent years, due to the hording of Vulcanium by the government (whether or not it has been because of orders from the Royal family or by corrupt officials has yet to be seen. ), the people have been becoming more and more displeased by with how things are. With the dissent of the public rising, even with the Royal family working hard to change things, it is becoming more and more evident that the revolution may be at hand.
Known Family: Rashiel is currently considered to by the heiress of the royal throne of Vulcania. Her family consists of the King and Queen of Vulcania, her older brother, who is currently missing in action, as well as her care taker. (Not all of the characters are still alive.)
Since the death of Taharial, Vaol has been very reclusive and distant even from those he’s always been very close to. Aside from the occasional proclamation, he is rarely seen outside of the palace grounds.
[/li][li]Mother- Taharial Armatus:[/I] Taharial is currently deceased. In life, Taharial was the Queen of Vulcania. Appearance wise, it easy to see that Rashiel received her looks from Taharial, as they look almost like twins. One of the few differences between the two women is the beauty mark on Taharial’s face that is right below her right eye and near the top of her nose.
Personality wise, Taharial was a very kind and modest woman. She was known for her graciousness, and was far more beloved to the people of Vulcania than her husband is.
She was a fairy and received her training from Alfea. Her powers were based off of snow and ice.
[/li][li]Older Brother- Hatiphas Armatus:[/I] It has been quite sometime since Hatiphas has been seen by anyone. He is presumed to be dead by most, although this has yet to be proven.
When he was last seen, Hatiphas had taken up the study of magic and was around 18 years old. He is five years older than Rashiel.
[/li][li]Care Taker- Zeffar Oros:[/I] Zeffar is currently deceased. Zeffar was a rather quiet scholar who had been a close friend of the late Queen. Out of respect of the late queen, he offered to raise Rashiel rather than have her sent away to some non-descript place where she would have died.
Zeffar died while visiting the mining camp when he stopped by to pick up supplies. He and a handful of others were killed when a tunnel collapsed and caused a cave in to occur. While it is not suspected, it is very likely that a young and rather angry Rashiel may have been the inadvertent cause of the collapse as she had gotten in a fight with Zeffar earlier that day.

Hobbies and pastimes: Two of Rashiel’s main hobbies are calligraphy and painting. It is for this reason that Rashiel’s room is often times a cluttered mess. As far as her calligraphy goes, she is rather good at it.
Painting on the hand, not so much. Despite her lack training and talent in painting, she enjoys it very much. She uses acrylics and oil paints. She primarily sticks to landscapes, but on occasion, she has actually asked a few students to pose for her. She does have a few paintings that she is very proud of that hang in her room.
Aside for that, she enjoys studying and sleeping, although she does not consider those to be hobbies or past times, just things that are required of her to do.
Favorite music: Rashiel likes classical and instrumental music. She likes it even more if it is quiet and soothing, and will harass you if you play anything that is “far too loud” or “sounds like garbage”. That primarily encompasses rock, rap, heavy metal, and anything that sounds remotely related to any of those three music genres.
Favorite foods: Rashiel adores anything that is covered in chocolate. Even if it was the nastiest tasting food that ever existed, she would scarf it down in a second if it was smothered in chocolate.
Personality: Rashiel seems to be in a state of almost constant agitation. The actual cause of this, albeit one can imagine it has something to do with her home, is unknown. However, when you catch her outside of this state, she actually can be quite pleasant to be around. When not cranky, she’s rather gung ho and friendly.
Appearance: Rashiel is of small stature; she stands at five feet and weighs in about one hundred and thirty pounds. Her hair is pale silver, and is short cut very short, save for two pieces of bangs. She has pale skin and light blue eyes. When in normal clothes, she primarily wears darker colors. She favors dark purples, blues, and greens.
History: While Rashiel was born to the Royal Family of Vulcania, she did not get to enjoy the luxuries of such an upbringing. When she was born, her mother died in child birth, and soon after that, a soothsayer prophesized that when she came to the age where she’d be allowed to take the throne, an era of chaos and destruction would begin.
Thinking that the best way to avoid fulfilling the prophesy, The King sent Rashiel far away to live by the Vulcanium mines with a single caretaker to provide for her. This Caretaker was the great scholar Zeffar Oros, a close friend of Rashiel’s late mother. Until she was fourteen years old, Rashiel lived alone with Zeffar and rarely left her home.
One day, Zeffar and Rashiel had gotten into an argument, and Zeffar left to pick up supplies from a nearby mining camp. He never returned, and had been killed in a cave in at the camp. Rashiel realized that something had happened, and left for the camp.
As very few people knew of Rashiel’s existence, the miners who remained were surprised to learn of this girl who had come out of no where. As anyone who was not a worker for the King was banned from being in the Poles of Vulcania, Rashiel was taken to the King to have her fate decided.
Luckily for her, Rashiel’s ability to use magic and the disappearance of her older brother saved her from being executed. It also forced the King to accept Rashiel back into the Royal Family as the throne’s heiress.
Since then, Rashiel has been slowly learning to cope with being royalty and having to deal with people. While she isn’t the friendliest, she is getting better at being more open towards people.
Why is she at Alfea and show up when she did? : Rashiel is currently at Alfea due to the fact that she is not likely to be taken hostage, killed, or put in a very bad situation. On top of that, being in a school where the majority of the students are either royalty or in high standing, it is much easier for Vulcania’s royal family to gain allies if things get out of control.
What took her so long to arrive back at school? That has more to do with safety issues and the fact that leaving at the beginning of the school year was not possible.
And in the Interview-[/I]
Who do you want to play? : Rashiel, of course~!
Why? : Well, I’d like to play her as she is a character of my own creation. Why I’d rather play an original character rather than a canon character? Primarily because the characters that are currently open are characters that I either have little interest in, don’t know enough about, or am too afraid to RP out of fear of slaughtering their characterization. With an original, I don’t have to worry as much about that.
Have you ever RP before? Where? : Yes, I’ve RPed a lot, actually. Truthfully (providing I’ve got the age right…) I’ve been RPing for close to six years. Primarily, most of my RPing goes on through IMs, however, I have experience in Message Board and Play by E-Mail RPGs. Unfortunately, I cannot link you to any of the past RPGs I have taken part in as they’re rather dead and no longer can be found on the internet. ^^; If you’re curious as to what fandoms they were for, I primarily played in Slayers (the anime) and Sailor Moon games.
How many times would you say you should post a day?: It honestly depends on how active my character is. If I’m playing a major part, I’d probably do multiple posts in a day. If I’m not, I’d be likely to try to post once a day. No absolute guarantees on that, though.
Do you mean to stick with this site (in other words, will you NOT quit after a month or two?): I would hope so… I mean… I spent at least a week coming up writing up this application. ^^;;; Since I am in college, it is likely that I might take a short leave due to school studies and finals. However, if worse comes to worst and I have to quit the game, the mods have my permission to do whatever they like with my character, whether it be that she’s killed off, graduates and never comes back, or whatever else their hearts desire to do.
Anything else?: Well, first off, thanks for taking the time to read all of this. I know it’s VERY long in comparison to the other profiles. I hope you don’t mind the adding of questions to the application. The questions are added to make it so that more is known about Rashiel and her background. I felt that her circumstances needed to be explained simply so it is apparent as to why she’s here now and hasn’t been around for the other threads. That and it also gives me some plot devices to play with if need be.
Another thing that might come up, depending on how she develops, is that she might transfer over to Cloud Tower. Rashiel’s background (being the heiress of the throne, being related to some one who was a fairy, as well as needing allies to help out should things not work out at home) supports that she would be placed in Alfea. However, Rashiel seems to be leaning more towards being a witch rather than a fairy. Would having her start in Alfea and seeing how things go, followed by a transfer (if it still seems like it would fit her character) be something that I’d be allowed to pull off?
Writing Sample:
Rashiel laid on her bed, her eyes closed, as she took in the silence of her room. It reminded her of how she had so often done the same thing growing up. She’d sit as still as she could and listen to whatever noises she could. Sometimes it was so quiet she could hear the foot steps of Zeffar, her caretaker, as he paced on the floor below. She sighed and drifted deep into thought.
“ARE YOU READY TO ROCK?!” A deep male voice boomed loudly, and it felt as if someone had been yelling into her ears. Her eyes swiftly opened and she got up to angrily glare at her room mate.
“What do you think you’re doing?! Trying to make me deaf?! If you’re going to listen to that trash, TURN IT DOWN!” Rashiel almost shrieked this at the poor girl who had instantly turned the music down the moment she had seen Rashiel’s wrathful glare.
“Ah… I’m sorry, Rashiel…” The other girl whimpered back in response. It was obvious she hadn’t the faintest idea as to the best way to respond. Rashiel shook her head in feigned disappointment and then went back to lying on the bed with her back facing the girl.
“At the very least, do everyone else a favor and invest in a pair of headphones, would you?” She muttered before she fell silent and began to reminisce once again.
