Name: Lady Alice Coriander, Countess of Winfield
Age: 17
Powers: Alice is what can best be described as an elemental fairy. While other fairies have control over water or fire, Alice's expertise involves all things wintry and cold (snow, ice, etc.). Essentially, she's the fairy-counterpart to Icy, although Alice is not nearly as strong as that particular witch. In the past, Alice has usually focused on ice attacks more often than anything else because it felt most natural to her, but as she has progressed in her studies at Alfea she has begun to prefer strengthening other aspects of her Winx.
Originally from: Nieve, a realm that most outsiders think has only one season: winter. While it is true that Nieve generally has chilly temperatures and is often covered in at least a thin layer of snow, the realm does in fact have other seasons - spring and autumn (albeit they are very short). However, summer is virtually nonexistent in Nieve. The temperatures are simply never high enough to constitute a summer. One of the prides of Nieve is the Winter Solstice Festival that is held every year. Because on the winter solstice the night is the longest one of the whole year, much partying is enjoyed by everyone for many hours. On this night, it is not uncommon in the least to see hundreds upon hundreds of semi-drunk people dancing in the street. Oddly enough, though, it is a rather pretty sight because of the combination of happy people, bright snow, and glowing street lamps.
Known Family:
Hobbies and pastimes: Alice is what can be described as "a perfect lady." To most outsiders, the extent of her pastimes probably include reading and playing the pianoforte; however, Alice has a slightly unconventional side as she loves to go skiing and snowboarding. She loves the rush it gives her, how it makes her feel alive and happy - and although her father doesn't approve of this particular activity, because she can occupy herself with "proper" activities the majority of the time, he allows her that little indulgence. As for ladylike pastimes, Alice loves the opera because she finds the whole atmosphere of the opera house enthralling. The costumes. The singing. And the people watching. Half the time, Alice prefers to watch the people around her watch the opera. She simply finds people and their individual mannerisms quite intriguing.
Favorite music: Alice doesn't have a set preference for what kind of music she considers best; rather, she likes music to fit her moods. If she's feeling happy, she'll want something upbeat; if she's tired she will want something mellow, etc., etc. Music isn't all that important to her, but she does like music to be playing around her to create a certain ambiance.
Favorite foods: In her home realm, Alice loved all things hot - cocoa, soup, apple cider and honey, etc. Since coming to Alfea, however, she has acquired a taste for foods she never would have eaten due to the cold temperatures of her home realm - such as ice cream or lemonade.
Bio: Alice can best be described as multi-faceted. When one doesn't know her very well, it is easy to characterize her as a stereotypical member of the nobility. However, Alice likes to surprise people and she does with her ability to be both conventional and unconventional, depending on what the occasion calls for. Growing up to be a future countess, Alice learned the ins and outs of etiquette and how to converse with others; as a result, she knows exactly how to greet every type of noble, from the lowly baron to the king himself (not that she is on close terms with any kings) as well as how to draw even the shyest of people out of their shells. In short, she was brought up by her mother and various governesses to be a perfect lady in hopes that she could someday marry well if the need ever should arise (e.g. if she was ever orphaned), or so they claimed. However, this did not seem likely if only for the simple fact that when she turned eighteen, she would inherit a rather hefty fortune that would allow her to live comfortably on her own. Still, it cannot be denied that Alice's mother had hopes that her daughter would marry above her own rank, if not for money, but for status. As for Alice, while she'd prefer to marry for love, as her parents surprisingly did, she cannot help that she has high standards for who she will and will not be in a relationship with (which can probably be accredited to a subconscious acceptance on her part of her mother's repeated praise that she was "good enough for any prince").
Slightly spoiled by her parents and grandfather as a child, Alice was given a sharp awakening to the realities of the world when her mother died in an unfortunate car accident four months before she was supposed to begin her first year at Alfea. Her distraught father did not want to send her away, but her grandfather convinced him that it was best that Alice's life continued as normally as possible. At first, Alice didn't agree with her grandfather and she wanted nothing more than to stay home and comfort her father, but after some time at Alfea, she realized that it had been the right decision. It was exactly what she needed to get her mind off of her personal troubles and it gave her the chance to meet some, in her words, "incredibly sweet and wonderful girls."
It has been about two years since Alice's mother's death and she feels that she's finally starting to feel normal again. Slowly, she has rediscovered her love for her favorite pastimes and she, in a strange way, feels like she has grown from living through the experience of losing her mother. That's not to say that she's okay with her mother's death - Alice doesn't think she'll ever get over it - but as cliche as it may sound, it's given her a new lease on life. She's determined to suck up every last drop of it and if that means skiing down a mountain, then so be it. Of course, this isn't always practical - so she's found other ways to "live it up" - basically by making sure that she learns to enjoy herself. Still, Alice is a lady first and foremost and to her, that means that she can never do anything too extreme for the sake of appearance/making sure that she doesn't embarrass her father, who she dotes on. Always a classy girl, ever since becoming the Countess of Winfield (due to her mother's death) Alice has become even more conscious of her actions because the thought of besmirching her title horrifies her.
And in the Interview:
Who do you want to play?: Alice, a background fairy on the show
Why?: She's pretty. *laughs* Okay, okay, so that's not the only reason why I want to play her; I'm actually working on a fanfiction about her and I think that this will help me flesh out her character/build her story. And every once in a while I like to mix things up and play someone different because, believe it or not, I get tired of playing the same characters; I just like to spice things up/have options, you know? Oh, and she's going to create some new drama in the whole Sky/Christine saga (Alice is going to be Sky's mother's idea of a 'suitable future wife' for him).Yay, drama! XD
Have you ever RP before? Where?: Here as far too many characters (I think eight - Palladium, Sky, Layla, Cora, Stella, Karina, Riven, and Diaspro . . . yep. Eight.) But who's counting, right?
How many times would you say you should post a day?: I try to post at least a few times a day as at least some of my characters, but obviously, sometimes real life gets in the way/sometimes characters don't have a storyline for me to post in.
Do you mean to stick with this site (in other words, will you NOT quit after a month or two?): Let's count how many months I've been here, shall we? Let's see - beginning with November . . . that would be six months? Yeah, I think I'm sticking around
Please write a sample post for the character you want below: *Ideas: Do something with someone (but don't control their character). Make it more than a one liner. Just post like you would in any other place.
"Hey, Alice - mail," Karina called as she sorted the envelopes into two piles - one for her and one for her roommate.
"Thanks, Kari," Alice said as she took her stack and went to sit on her bed. Tucking her legs underneath her, a smile crossed Alice's face as she saw that, predictably, the envelope on top was from her pop. Ever since her mother had died nearly two years ago, her grandfather had taken up the habit of mailing her little notes. Nothing particularly special, at least to anyone else - just thoughts about his day and experiences he had had recently. But it gave Alice an immense amount of pleasure all the same. Deciding to save his letter for later, Alice sorted through the rest of her mail, one particular piece catching her interest. It was a crisp white envelope and it had her name written quite elaborately in beautiful calligraphy across the front. Flipping it over, Alice sucked in her breath when she saw the crest - the royal family of Eraklyon's crest. Curious as to why they would be writing to her, Alice carefully broke the seal and pulled out a fine piece of stationary. Quickly skimming the letter's contents, Alice's mouth fell open slightly. The queen of Eraklyon wanted to . . . to have lunch with her.
Glancing over at Karina, who was now quietly reading from a book of poetry, as per usual, Alice said softly, "Kare . . . Kare . . . you simply have to see this."
