Breaking off the kiss, Mali snuggled into his shoulder. "I've missed you so much." she softly admitted.

: "I kept praying that someday you'd come home to me. It felt like a piece of me died when you left."

Tears glistened on her eyes lashes, Mali couldn't think of anything that didn't sound stupid. Leaving him had been her biggest mistake, he was her other half, perhaps even her better half.

: "Shh," he said quietly, rubbing her back with his hands. "It's okay. We're together now, that's all that matters."

"How did I manage to find someone like you?" Mali quietly asked, she was in awe that after all she had done, Jules still wanted her.

: "Luck and the fact that you're the only female who didn't treat me with a shred of pity."

"Luck I agree with, as for the pity I never really understood why people should pity you. Your still the man you were before. Besides I can think of a few good things about the chair. I can sit here all day and not have to worry about being to heavy, your the perfect height to do this," Mali trailed off as she kissed him again, "I'm not tall, blond and beautiful so I can use any advantage I can get."

: "I know that, you know that, but the people from our village don't. They are all "oh, it's so sad. He was such a great warrior, so noble, now look, confined to a chair"," he said, mocking the villagers.

Mali groaned at his accurate display of the villagers, her mother had been right in the middle of that mess. "They're still going on about that? You know perhaps we should tell them about all our adventures against Ravenwaves." A little curious to see how they would take the news that Jules had managed to stop Ravenwaves more times then they could count after he was in the chair.

: "I don't think you want to hear what your mother thinks about you walking out. You really don't."

"Your right I don't. But then she hasn't liked any of the choices I've made since I told Bryant to take a short walk off a high cliff." That had been the final straw in the battles they had had, Mali just wasn't meant to be the sweet demure Lady her mother wanted her to be.

: "Let's put it this way - she's been apologizing constantly, berated your character and has been trying to find me a replacement. Hélène finally had enough of your mother's insults and nearly broke her jaw." He paused. "And everyone applauded."

Mali half laughed, "I know it's wrong to laugh but I can't help it. And I know about what she has been saying about me; years ago I tried to go home but ran into my mother before I saw anyone else. Resulting conversation wasn't very pleasant and I believed everything she said to me, thinking that she wouldn't lie. I left again thinking that you were happy and I would only cause you more grief."

: "That's horse dung and your mother knows it. I was miserable when you left. And refused to let anyone near me. My siblings were tempted to hunt you down and drag you back by your hair but your mother insisted that..." he looked away. "She said that you had married me out of pity and that you had found someone better." He cleared his throat and glanced at Mali. "Not that my siblings or I believed it."

"I knew she didn't want me to marry you but I didn't think she was capable of going that far." It chilled her to learn that her mother would do something like this because Mali wouldn't be a pawn in her game. "You are my someone better. I'll never do better then you." Mali said running a hand down the side of his face.
