OOC: set after Wolf Prince
Christine sat at her dresser, giving her hair one hundred strokes with a soft brush. It was one of the few purely feminine things she allowed herself to do. She sighed softly and shook her head as she tried to banish unwanted thoughts. Sky was driving her mad - again, still, always. He had that habit - and as endearing as it could be - right now, it was far from it.
She put down her brush and sighed again. Although, now that she thought about it... Something had seemed different with Sky. Something... She just couldn't place it.
She paused. Wait. Yes... Yes she could place it.
His eyes. His eyes were slightly different. His *human* eyes were starting to look different.
This was starting to not bode well. Not well at all.
And that...
Scared her.

(OOC: just continuing the scene, please, still feel free to join)
Was it as she feared? Could they have been wrong? Could the curse not been broken - merely changed? Was Ribestaus playing games with them? No, she decided. They had done everything correctly, Ribestaus's curse had been broken. So someone, something, wanted to cause further grief to the prince.
She rose from her seat and paced her room. Surely, surely there was something to be done. Some clue they overlooked. Brandon had showed her the changed photo and she had been unnerved. Although - could the picture have been a warning? Warning them that someone meant Sky harm, or humiliation?

Lightly knocking on Christine's door Brandon opened the door and let himself in to see Christine pacing. "What's up?"

She paused in midstride and looked at Brandon. "That's an excellent question, Brandon," she said, looking at him. "I don't know - it just feels like something about Sky's changed. I noticed it the other day during fencing class. His eyes... His eyes looked different. Almost as if there was a hint of a wolf to them."

Passing through the dorm lobby, Sky paused when he heard two familiar voices - Christine and Brandon. He could hear them so clearly and yet, they were no where in sight . . . shaking his head, Sky headed back toward his room. Perhaps he was getting some sort of headache or a migraine; he did have some of the symptoms, after all - like sensitivity to sound. Everything just seemed so much louder than normal.
Absently running his hand over the back of his neck, Sky made a mental note to make a run to the drugstore for some pain medication. Even though he wasn't in pain at the current moment, it would probably hit him when he least expected it. It was better to be prepared.

Christine paused in her pacing. "Damn," she swore under her breath. "I forgot a copy of yesterday's lecture notes in Sky's room. We had been going over some of the fencing vocab and I left it there."
Squaring her shoulders, she gave Brandon a faint smile. "Be back in a flash."

Christine knocked once on Sky's door. "You in?"

Having just settled down at his desk, Sky groaned when he heard a knock at his door; at this rate, he was never going to get his studying done for the night. Momentarily debating whether the person would go away if he just remained silent, Sky sighed. Probably not. People at Red Fountain tended be annoyingly persistent. His thoughts halting when he heard Christine's voice, Sky frowned before he called out, "It's open."

Christine pushed open the door and stepped inside. "Thanks," she said, offering him a soft smile. "I forgot something in here and I figured I better pick it up now before we get a surprise exam in our fencing class."
She bent down and picked up her notes before glancing up to catch Sky's gaze. "Is something wrong?"

Averting his gaze from Christine's, Sky stared at his computer screen as though he was absorbed in the document he had opened and then slowly shook his head. "No . . . nothing's wrong. Just a bit tired. Why do you ask?"

Christine avoided answering his question. "Look at me," she said, using the same regal voice she had come to possess. "Something looked different about your eyes."

His head whipping around so that he could look at Christine, he asked incredulously, "Are you kidding me?" Holding up his hands, he continued, "No - don't answer that because I know I'm perfectly fine." As a silence seemed to settle over them, Sky sighed, wishing that he hadn't used such a snappish tone. Wearily, he finished, "Just . . . look, I'm busy. You have your notes now so, please . . . go."

"As you command," she said, her voice dripping with an icy regal tone. "Just don't come crying to me if this is something serious." She rose to her full height of five feet and a quarter of an inch and started to walk out, pausing for a moment in the doorway.

Nodding stiffly, Sky turned away as he said quietly, "Please close the door behind you."
When he had heard the door click at last, Sky wearily slumped over his desk. No, he wouldn't go crying to Christine. Not these days. Not when whatever kind of relationship they had was was nothing but a tense mess. Not when he didn't feel like they could ever again talk like the way they used to. These days when he talked with Christine, he almost felt like he was talking to his mother. She used that same cold, regal tone that his mother used and she carried herself in that same way and it was . . . disturbing. But what else could he have expected? All royals were the same deep down - it was only a matter of time before Christine developed the hardness of heart.
Sighing, Sky turned his attention back to his books before he shoved them away in frustration. His concentration had been broken and now all his mind was filled with were paranoid thoughts that something was wrong with him. Abruptly getting to his feet, Sky decided that he would turn in for the night. It wasn't as if he was going to get anything else productive done.

Christine sank down to the ground and allowed herself to cry. She had been far too cold, far too icy but she had to be - if only for the sake of her own heart. She had let Sky control it for so long that she no longer remembered what it was like to do things for herself.
"Lady," she called softly, trying to coax the golden furred dog over to her. "Here girl," she cooed. She'd feel better when the dog was curled up next to her, sleeping.

Hearing her name called, Lady, who had been roaming the halls, paused and then walked over to Christine. Plopping down in front of Sky's closed door, Lady rested her head on the floor and proceeded to fall asleep.
