Howl sat propped up against a wall, one leg dangling over the edge of the embankment of a lookout point. He found himself deep in thought, mainly about the aura of magic emanating from the golden boy, Prince Sky. He wasn't sure if that was because of the number of times the boy had fallen victim to a curse (from what that student, Kaelin was it?, said, it was nearly every other week it felt) of some nature or rather that the prince himself was a magic user and didn't quite know he was.
He couldn't help but shudder at the thought. It wasn't the thought of Sky being a magic user that frightened him - perish that thought. It was more - oh dear power that be, the boy's completely untrained and if anything were to aggravate and or trigger his magic to express itself - then they were going to be up shit's creek without a decent paddle.
So far, the odds were in their favor that the boy was just giving off the aura due to the curses. He didn't want to think about the other possibility for too long - it was the stuff of nightmares. Because, he had this very strong gut feeling - that the prince, if he was indeed a magic user of some nature, being stupid enough to catch a falling star, a star child as they were correctly called, and making a deal with it. Contracts with that type were hard to break - Howl knew that for a fact. It had taken everything in Sophie's arsenal to get his contract broken but with the castle hitting new dimensions, somehow his contract had been redone and Calcifer was once again in possession of his heart.
He'd worry about the contract later - right now, he had to keep his thoughts centered on the prince. He had to make sure that he wasn't going to have to tutor the prince on how to deal with a fire demon (which Calcifer would proudly proclaim himself as) if he was a fool to make a deal with one. The only reason he could see him doing it - of course, after being a hero and making the deal to save the star's life (bad idea) - would be if the star offered him the power to protect a loved one.
Quite frankly, it didn't take much of a rocket scientist to see that the only female in the entire school was sweet on him and him on her. He could almost see him making the deal if only to have the power to make sure she was safe.
Still, he wasn't even sure he wanted to play tutor if the case arose. He had enough of a hassle teaching the rest of his yearmates and teaching his apprentice and avoiding Suliman and dealing with the now reformed Witch of the Waste and trying to be ill when seeing her with Justin (good old Turnip head - not), deal with Sophie's cleaning sprees and not to mention slither out of any meetings with his family (except his beloved niece, Mari). He simply had far too much on his plate these days - it was a small wonder he was still very much sane. Although, he did question his sanity once or twice.
He sighed and shook his head. Well, whatever was going to be in store - he knew he had to be ready for it. Hm.. maybe he could convince the female student to join him for breakfast - if only to see how the prince would react. It would be so much fun to see what color the prince's face would turn.
