Christine sat on the edge of the balcony in the observatory, staring out into the distance. She knew that something was going down and she needed to find out what. Granted, the last time she did this - Sky had to waken her after her being knocked out by Darkar's attack on her mentally.
But, she was the only one who could find out what was going on. She had to. There was no other way, no other choice. As a member of the team, she had the means and the way to get the others the information they most desperately needed. And so if it meant weathering another lecture from Sky about taking foolish chances, well then, lecture away loverboy.
So, with that in mind, Christine closed her eyes and allowed her gift to take control - to guide her visions. She had caught a glimpse of a vision earlier, while talking to Riven (which, in hindsight, had been a sheer disaster), and she was determined to find out what, if any of it, was true.
So intent on seeking her answers, that she didn't sense the presence of her team approach her. Whoever it was, she'd deal with them later. Right now, she had a job to do and she was doing it. She was the seer, and so she was doing what she was trained to do. Okay, so she wasn't fully trained, but close enough.
OOC: tag, Chris's team.

(Enter Riven)
Riven couldn’t wait to see the look on Sky’s face when he informed him that he was not only returning to Red Fountain, but that he was taking back his rightful place on the team. More than that, he would take great joy in informing Sky that if he didn’t shape up and start putting his team first like a leader should, then Riven was going to lobby for the leadership spot. That would knock him down a peg.
Deciding to check the last place he’d seen him just in case he had lapsed back into brooding, Riven made his way to the Observatory. The room wasn’t empty, but it wasn’t Sky that was present. Sky’s little pretty princess was there instead, and while not brooding, she was doing the closest thing to it in her book. Seeing the expression on her face, he knew exactly what was going on, and after the fiasco earlier, there was no way he was getting involved again.
Turning around, he went right back the way he had come.
(Exit Riven. Sorry, Chris. I just couldn’t pass it up. ;D )

Two things always managed to help put things into perspective for Sky: going for runs and spending time in the observatory. He had tried the former just a few hours earlier, and while it had been just what he needed to release some of his pent up energy and emotions, at this particular moment, Sky desperately needed some alone time where he could just think. It seemed like every time he tried to do that lately - to just get away from everyone - he was always interrupted and it was beginning to grate on his nerves. Couldn't a guy just get a bit of peace and quiet and not be accused of 'brooding'?
With a tired sigh, Sky rolled his shoulders in an attempt to ease his sore muscles. Yep, he definitely needed a couple hours of downtime to himself. No fighting with his peers. No intense workouts. No moping. Just personal Sky-time. If he was going to resurrect his team, to restore them their former glory, he was going to need to keep his wits about him. He was going to need a cool head (especially if Riven was coming back as Sky already suspected he was - because, honestly, he wasn't born yesterday. He didn't buy for a minute that bull Riven had tried to feed him about returning just to get the rest of his stuff).
And so he was here, back in the observatory. He had spent a great many hours in this part of Red Fountain and in some ways, it had become more of a sanctuary to him than his own dorm.
Except tonight, Sky acknowledged with an inward groan as his eyes adjusted to the dim lighting, that wasn't going to be the case.
Spotting Christine's familiar figure against the wall, Sky sighed as he began to approach her. He cared about her, yes, but these days they always seemed to end up in a fight or with her crying inconsolably - something he just wasn't in the mood to deal with tonight. As he drew closer to her, however, Sky started when he finally noticed that something was amiss - that her body was far too limp for her to just be relaxing. No, Sky knew what that expression on her face meant. She was having a vision - no, she was forcing herself to have a vision.
A spark of anger rising up in his chest, Sky shook his head. Why wouldn't she listen to any of them? Why did she have to be so damn stubborn? Why did she keep insisting on putting herself in danger? For goodness sake, didn't she see how stupid her actions were? That forcing her visions in secret could seriously injure her if something went wrong and no one knew that she needed help?
Shrugging out of his jacket, Sky tucked it around her body before lightly slapping his palms against the sides of her face. The sooner he could draw her out of her vision, the better.

Christine's blue eyes flickered back to life as she stared up at him. Her mind still half dazed, she stared up at him confusedly, trying to pull her mind back together. Her hand went to her temple as she tried to regained her thoughts. "Where...?" her voice came out in a small whisper.

As his relief that Christine seemed to be recovering from whatever vision she had been having again gave way to his irritation at her stupidity, Sky's face became an unreadable mask. Rising from his squatted position by her side to his feet, Sky towered over Christine for a brief moment before he turned and walked toward the window on the opposite wall.
Silent for a what probably felt like an eternity, he then asked, his tone more characteristic of the team leader he had once prided himself on being rather than a concerned boyfriend, "What the hell were you thinking?" Holding his hand up, he swiveled around to face Christine once again. In a warning tone, he continued, "And don't even try to give me that load of crap about this being something you have to do. And maybe it is, but you don't do it like this. You don't do it in secret. Do you know what kind of trouble you could get yourself into?"

"I had a vision. A bad one while talking to Riven. I was merely following up on it. Hoping and praying that what I had seen I had seen *wrong*," she snapped, rising to her feet, sounding like the vexed seer she was. "Because if it was, is happening then we're all screwed," she said, her voice gaining the icy regal tone she hated.
"The realm I saw, the realm I saw being attacked by Mr Pyscho I Escaped Omega..." she paused, her voice breaking. "It was yours."

His skin draining of color at Christine's words until he was nothing but a ghostly white, Sky stood frozen in place, his own words dying on his tongue. For the longest moment, he remained silent and appeared utterly blown away before the haziness slowly began to recede from his eyes and the color began to seep back into his skin.
When he finally spoke, however, his voice still carried remnants of his shock and indeed, he appeared to be talking to himself rather than Christine, almost as though he had entirely forgotten her presence, "I must alert my father at once..."

"I saw him enter the palace, turning guards into his minions as he went. I saw him enter the throne room and," her voice trailed off. "That's what I was trying to see - to see what happened when you snapped me out of it," she confessed. "Granted, your mother and I have yet to see eye to eye on anything but I don't want anything to happen to her."

Turning heavily away from Christine, Sky's only reply was a few incoherent remarks mumbled underneath his breath.
Indeed, his thoughts were already elsewhere - already far, far away from Red Fountain. In his mind, Sky was back home in Eraklyon, mentally imagining where to tell the guards to increase security - around the palace's immediate perimeter as well as the surrounding forestry, outside his parents' chambers...
Ideally, Sky would return to Eraklyon at once, but even now in his confused jumble of thoughts, he knew that was not a possibility. His place was here at Red Fountain; his duty was to his team - he was not going to abandon them again right after he had finally seen that he needed to shape up. Especially when there was always the possibility that this dark force could attack Magix and the three schools at any time. No, he had to stay here. He had to get his team ready.

"Sky, go home. Your family needs you more then we do," Christine said firmly. "We'll be fine, don't worry about us." Whether or not she was trying to convince him or herself was a matter of debate.

Christine's words finally penetrating through the thick fog of his mind, Sky abruptly turned around to face her, a ghost of a smile at his lips. "Hypocrite much? I know you're trying to help, Chris, but don't tell me to go home when you know that if you were in my shoes, that's one bit of advice you wouldn't stand to hear."
Sky had to wonder, though, if he really was needed. The truth of the matter was that he had done a hell of a lot more harm to the team than good - perhaps it would be the breath of fresh air everyone needed to let Riven take over his position. And yet, the thought of that was unbearable. Riven with power in his hands...Sky shuddered to think about how hard he would work the team. Too hard. Maybe not by Riven's standards - but compared to everyone else, Riven was a machine. Doubtlessly, the guy would push everyone past their breaking point.
No, he had to stay. He had to prove to his teammates that he wasn't going to fail them again.

Christine made her way over and hugged him tightly. "I guess I'm more worried about your family then I am about whether or not someone else leads us," she said softly. "And yes, I guess I am a bit of a hypocrite," she added with a laugh. "But you know me, a stubborn hellcat, when I want to be." Snapping to a light salute and to attention, she gave him a cheeky grin. "So, what's your first order, leader?"

Shooting her a wan smile, Sky shook his head. "Don't worry too much about my parents; they're a pretty tough set of folks. I have complete faith that they will be able to bear whatever is to come."
It was the truth too. Even though Sky was beginning to wonder if this Omega-escapee could potentially be the strongest foe any realm had ever faced, at the same time, Sky knew his parents. They loved Eraklyon too much to let it fall to pieces - it was perhaps one sure advantage they had over this wizard. After all, didn't the saying go 'love conquers all'? Who said that those words had to be limited to the romantic kind of love? Because, in some ways, Sky had to admit that he was beginning to see his mother's point on how love for one's kingdom superseded everything else. Eraklyon was an inextricable part of his identity; if she fell, it would be like the wizard had taken him down too. It wasn't a feeling that Sky ever wanted to experience.
Sky knew, though, that he couldn't just sit around and cross his fingers that Christine's vision wouldn't come true. It would. But just because that was true, it didn't mean that he was going to let 'fate' or whatever rule his life. Christine hadn't seen what was going to happen in the end; she didn't know whether the wizard would be successful in taking over Eraklyon. As far as he was concerned, the future wasn't written in stone yet.
Lost in thoughts, Sky barely heard the remainder of Christine's words. Then, giving her a mildly sheepish look, Sky leaned down to press a brief kiss to her forehead. "Time to start hardcore training again, I'm afraid. You know what that means - time to start getting up before dawn too." Again turning away from her, Sky then said over his shoulder, "For right now, though, I have a few things I need to take care of myself. Just don't stay up here too long, okay? It gets pretty chilly - wouldn't want you to catch a cold."

"Actually, I'll follow you down but will head for my chamber once we get inside. I'm already a bit cold," she said, slipping her hand into his after she jogged to catch up to him. "We're be okay, right?"

"Don't worry; everything is going to work itself out - you'll see," Sky answered reassuringly as he gave Christine's hand a squeeze.
And for once, Sky truly believed that.
