Crossing his arms over his broad chest, Riven leaned back in his chair, a disgruntled look on his face. Actually, ‘disgruntled’ was the norm for his expression, except for the times when it was replaced by a cocky grin. Unfortunately, the former was more frequent lately. It’s hard to be cocky when there’s nobody to brag to.
Staring at the drink in front of him, it surely would have withered had it been alive. Who would have known that life could be so boring without school to attend? He hated the circus Red Fountain had become with the whole “Sky and Chris” show, but at least he had been able to avoid it during class time. And despite what everyone thought of the guy that sat in the back and never took notes, he remembered practically everything his professors said.
Not that he wanted to go back there. Nope, not at all. It was just that instead of sitting here in Magix, having a drink, he could be wrangling dragons at that very moment. Despite his decision and his determination to stick with it, the latter seemed much more appealing at that moment.

Darcy draped her arms around his shoulder, standing behind him. "And just what are you plotting?" she asked, peering down at him.

Startled from his brooding when a pair of slim arms suddenly snaked around his shoulders, Riven tilted his head back to look up at Darcy.
“Hey, babe,” he greeted, nonchalantly, grasping one of her hands in his. “Who says I’m plotting anything?”

"The fact that you look like you were brooding about something - and to me, when someone's brooding, chances are that they are plotting something," she said. "At least, that was Icy's excuse for brooding, she claimed what I thought was her brooding was really her plotting."
She gave an idle shrug.

“I don’t brood,” he stated flatly. It was either a denial, or a confession. If he was the same as Icy, perish the thought, then if he wasn’t brooding, he had just confessed to plotting.
“I was thinking. There’s a difference,” he said, brushing his thumb along the side of her hand. He wondered if she had spoken to Icy lately, but decided not to ask. He would never fully trust her again, but it was much easier to forget what she had done to him in the past without the shadows of her sisters hanging over them.

"Ah, so you are plotting something," she said, moving so she was in front of him. "Spill." She said, giving him her best big wide eyed fluffy fairy look before smirking. "But before you ask, no I haven't spoken to Icy, nor have I spoken to Stormy - both of which are pissed that I dared to leave the sisterhood to be a solo witch and cause mayhem my own way. If I was up for causing mayhem," she amended.

Letting go of her hand, Riven sighed. She’d hit the nail on the head. She wasn’t up for causing mayhem anymore, and he wasn’t up for playing the hero. They didn’t do anything.
“That’s just it. Don’t you ever get bored, Darce?”

"Yeah, I get bored," Darcy said. "But I have been doing research, and I have been following current events." Her eyes widened for a moment before going back to their normal half closed state. "I don't suppose you heard the gossip that some big bad broke out of Omega."

“Research?” he repeated, raising a questioning eyebrow. Research wasn’t a cure for boredom, it was a cause of it. Unless the ‘research’ was spying. That was slightly more entertaining.
Omega, hmm? That could certainly liven things up if said big bad decided to show up. Of course he would; they always did. They were always drawn to the fairies.
Although if it came down to another war... which side would he be on?
“I don’t gossip either,” he said in the same tone he had used earlier to protest his brooding. “Are we talking fact here?”

"A little fact, a little fiction, who knows," Darcy said with an idle shrug. "But all the major papers have said that something had gotten out of Omega. And you have to be seriously evil to get there."
She tapped the side of her cheek. "And, in case you're still interested in your old team, rumor has it that there's going to be some sort of princess ball for the Solarian royal family, and," she paused to smirk. "Last I heard from Icy, she was bragging about taking one of your old teammates to Lost Souls."

That was intriguing. If he ended up having to choose sides, at least he wouldn’t be so damn bored anymore. Not that hanging out with Darcy wasn’t awesome – she was the coolest chick he knew – but there was too much history with too many people to be content with just this. He did actually smile a little, though, as Darcy paused and appeared to be thinking hard of more gossip that he might find interesting.
Interesting it was.
At first it seemed like two bits of unconnected information, but perhaps not. A princess ball at Solaria would have very little to do with his old team lately. The only one of them still dating one of the Alfea fairies was Brandon, and he was whipped enough to not bring along any of the other guys at Stella’s say so.
So if he had to make one guess as to you got the ticket to Lost Souls...
“Let me guess... the squire boy?” he asked with just the right amount is distaste in his voice. On the inside, though, this bit of news bothered him greatly.

"Ding. You got a bulls eye," Darcy said. "Supposedly blondie prince has a trinket making it hard to hex him so Icy decided to hurt him via his squire. And from what I heard, not only did it hurt princey - it hurt the little princess of Solaria because her little cupcake got not only turned into a canine, but has a new girl in his life."

Icy always was devious. If she couldn’t get what she wanted one way, she’d go through whoever she had to to get it another. Riven scoffed, though, wondering if Sky had even noticed. Stella, for sure, but Sky? He was too wrapped up in his own issues and the whole soap opera with Chris to probably even notice anything wrong with any of his other “friends”.
“Ha, I’m sure Icy is enjoying thinking that she hurt Sky, but my guess is that if she actually checked, she’d find that her plan had no impact whatsoever,” he bit out, crossing his arms over his chest again. “Stella, on the other hand...”
He and Stella had never really gotten along, and just listening to Brandon and her together was enough to make Riven want to puke, so he could imagine that “hurt” was an understatement in this case.

Darcy gritted her teeth, trying to keep her temper under wraps. Sure, she didn't get along with Icy these days - her lap dog stint made her ill, but she was still Icy's sister. "Oh, I'm quite sure that Sky's been affected. After all, according to my research and your experiences, Sky and Brandon are close like brothers," Darcy said, trying to keep calm.
Somehow, she had a feeling that if Icy had heard Riven talking smack about her - Riven would be in for a serious world of hurt... And Darcy wasn't too sure if she *wouldn't* help her sister.

Seeing the fire igniting in Darcy’s eyes, Riven grinned smugly. This was far less boring than sitting here alone staring at his drink, and she looked beautiful when she was angry.
“Sorry, sweetheart,” he said, a hint of condescension in his voice, “But lately, the only person Prince Sky cares about is Prince Sky. The only way what Icy did to Brandon might affect him would be a little worry about losing his squire and how that would affect his life.”
He didn’t know if he believed his words; most likely he didn’t, but he was having doubts about his decision to leave Red Fountain. It would be easier to stick with it if he emotionally distanced himself from everyone there instead of just physically.
