Watching Flora walk away, Layla furrowed her brow. Something was obviously up with her, but what exactly, Layla wasn't sure. All she knew was that from the looks of it, tonight wasn't going to be a light and fun party. Shaking her head bemusedly, Layla thought it ironic that the holiday that was supposed to celebrate love the most often made people feel crummy.
Glancing over at Musa, who fortunately had remained by her side, Layla asked, "So, what do you think is up with Flora?" She had her suspicion that it had something to do with Professor Palladium, but she decided that perhaps she should keep that feeling to herself.

Surveying the room for any signs of trouble, Palladium breathed a sigh of relief as all appeared to be going well. And hopefully it would stay that way throughout the night for it would be nice to for once actually host one of these functions without all the drama that seems to be associated with school dances.
As he glanced around the room to double check what was going on, Palladium noticed that Flora seemed to be absent. A small frown creased his forehead as he wondered whether she was okay, but just as quickly as the thought had risen in his head, he just as quickly banished it. After all, the room was crowded and Flora was probably just somewhere in its midst.

Silently, Cora watched Palladium, immediately sensing that he was distracted. Averting her eyes from her friend's profile, as she felt almost as though she was intruding on his private thoughts, Cora too began to survey the room. Soon, however, her thoughts took over her mind and she ceased to recognize what was occurring around her.
She was two years away from being twenty-five. Only two. Her father was complaining more and more these days that she was never going to settle down and get married. He was complaining that he would never get any grandchildren - and of course, he, dear man as he was, was dropping quite blatant hints that she needed to re-prioritize her life. Translation: she needed to get married. Soon.
Cora sighed quietly to herself. It wasn't as though she didn't want a husband or a family - it was just that the timing didn't feel right. Or should she say, the man she had been holding out for didn't seem to realize that she was in fact waiting for him, as she had been since her eighteenth birthday, for him to propose. Turning her gaze up again toward Lenwë, Cora smiled wistfully. They had been friends for some thirteen years and yet he didn't seem to have a clue what she really felt for him. While she could usually ignore this fact, tonight, on Valentine's Day, her friend's ignorance felt especially painful.

Holly sat quietly, sipping a cup of hot chocolate, savoring the rich chocolate taste. All this fuss over Valentine's day. Honestly, Christmas was much better. But that was her opinion. But she did feel sorry for that Linphean female. Love was not very easy for her, was it. She glanced over at Claus, who had an evil grin on his face.
She glanced up and saw a sudden cloud form above Palladium's head and snow started to fall down. "Mature. Aren't we?" she asked, glancing at her smirking partner.

"My Lady," Brandon bowed to her, "Shall we? Layla your next." Brandon called as he lead Karnia to the dance floor. On the dance floor, Karina breathed a sigh of relief as she heard that the song playing was a slow one. She could dance well enough to them - it was the fast paced songs that she had problems with. She could never help but feel entirely awkward when she was dancing to those - it probably had something to do with the flailing limbs and the fact that that "dancing" only entailed bobbing one's head and moving one's shoulders. It just looked so silly. Feeling Brandon's arm wrap around her back, Karina couldn't help but smile. It wasn't as though she particularly liked Brandon, especially since he had a girlfriend, but she had to admit that it felt quite nice to have someone to dance with instead of just standing on the sidelines like some wallflower. She had to say, she was quite pleased at the results of her boldness of asking Brandon to dance. Tilting her head back so that she could look at Brandon's face, Karina asked with a warm smile, "So, tell me, why are you alone tonight? I would have thought that Stella wouldn't have wanted to let you go for a second, especially considering that it's Valentine's Day and all."

Christine leaned against a wall, watching all the happy people. "Can't get my love together, no matter how I try. Can't get my love together, don't know the reason why. Can't get my love together, can't make the pieces fit. Can't get my love together, can't make sense of it. Why do I keep going in two directions at once? Seems like I keep fighting a war on two different fronts... Can't get my love together, how I wish I could. Can't get my love together, but once my love's together. I know we'll be together for good..." she sang softly, hugging herself.
Once again, she found herself wishing she knew where Sky was.

"At least she's closer to Lenwe's age, and isn't breaking any rules," she thought, malice towards Flora growing every minute. "Griselda Meredith," she announced herself, giving Cora her usual skeptical expression, "Haven't seen you before. You are?"

Startled out of her thoughts, Cora turned toward the harsh sounding voice that had spoken to her. Seeing Griselda, she suppressed a laugh of recognition and instead put on a smile and replied, "Cora Tselios - I am a friend of Lenwë's from Athryell."
Cora would have immediately recognized Griselda even if the woman hadn't introduced herself. As it was, Lenwë had written to her many times about this particular woman - and he had described her in not so pleasant terms: tall woman with heavy glasses, permanent scowl etched on her face, utterly frightening, made one feel that one had to creep around her or else receive a verbal whipping, and so forth.
Pushing aside those thoughts, Cora added in a voice that revealed nothing but amiability, "I am pleased to meet you, Ms. Griselda."

Under his breath Palladium spoke a reversal spell to stop the snow from falling over his head. Most likely, one of the pixies thought it would be fun to play jokes on him, however, he was not quite so amused - especially now that Griselda had made her way over to him and Cora. Sighing to himself, Palladium knew without a doubt that Griselda would try to stir up some kind of trouble.
Hearing his friend reply to Griselda's introduction, Palladium smoothly interjected to prevent her from harassing Cora, "How are things these days, Griselda?"

Karina gave a small smile as she cast her eyes down toward the ground, feeling her normal shyness return. As she and Brandon danced, she replied wistfully, "Stella's a lucky girl, and I bet you're a lucky guy too; I mean, it must be nice to have found love. It just seems like its so rare these days, you know?"

Entering the dining hall, Sky glanced around nervously for Bloom. As much as he needed to talk to her, he knew that if she saw him, she would throw a fit because by now she would have seen that silly Winx Weekly article. And even though that article wasn't really true, he knew Bloom would blow a fuse before he could explain to her that the gossip was just that - gossip. The last thing he wanted was to cause a big display at the Valentine's Day dance . . .
Besides, it was Valentine's Day and perhaps he and Bloom could just talk and get to the bottom of their problems. Maybe they could just get past whatever was causing so many problems lately. Maybe things would go back to the way they were. Maybe he and Bloom would be alright.
Seeing Christine standing against the wall, Sky swore under his breath and quickly turned the opposite way. Whatever he was feeling for Christine was . . . he wasn't sure. He was just confused. Really confused. He liked Christine. She was beautiful and sweet and everything that was good. But Bloom - Bloom was still his girlfriend. And he loved her. They had been through a lot together and to give it up would be stupid, wouldn't it? He wasn't sure. All he knew was that he had feelings for two very wonderful girls but that one of them was going to have to go. But which one? The girl he had known as a child? Or the girl who he had fallen heads first in love with over a year ago? Sky shook his head tiredly; he just didn't know.

Christine hadn't even noticed Sky walk in, her attention focused neatly on one tiny scrap of gold, the wedding ring that she didn't remember getting - but felt lost not wearing. A few tears streaked down her cheeks and she walked out into the hallway, sinking down and burying her face in her hands and wept quietly, something she learned while on Earth, pretending to be a normal girl.
"Don't be a fool," she whispered to herself. "Sky's with Bloom and that's just how things are going to be. You were just a practice dummy." Bitter, most likely. And she felt like she had every right. Her heart was fragiler then others - mainly due to her status as a halfbreed which meant she was often a target for well, some things were best left unsaid. She was right, she thought bitterly, he had been her friend and then used their relationship to mock her.
Silently, she wished her little wolf friend - the one she met when she was a child back in the Magic Realm, the one who appeared, saving her from the other wolves - was with her. She could bury her face in his soft fur and cry. She knew he would comfort her. He had when she was a child - and right after that attack. She wondered where he was now, if he even remembered her.

Claus sat and watched. Oh, he was having fun playing with Helia's rival. He pondered what would happen if he started turning him into a snowman? Oh, that would be amusing. Yes, very amusing. But he'd have to do it when that demon witch wasn't there.
