"Couldn't you ask Cordatorta to take her with you?" she asked. She planned on asking Cordatorta premission to take Parn with her - after all, her mother's realm would be perfect for him, he'd be with other dragons. "Surely he'd let you."

"I don't know," Sky said as he continued to look at Tempest. "She likes it here and by the time graduation rolls around, I think she'll be far too attached to Red Fountain to want to leave - even if it is to go with me to Eraklyon. And as much as I will miss her, I wouldn't want to take her away from a place where she's happy. It wouldn't be fair to her."

"You raise a good point. I'm going to see if Cordatorta will at least let me take Parn home with me, and by home, I mean my mother's realm. He'd do great there - all those other dragons," she said, a wistful smile on her face. She blushed embarrassedly. "Uh, right." She walked over and gave Sky a quick hug. "Thank you for bringing me down here. I missed my babies."

Briefly returning the hug, Sky then stepped back as he said, "No problem, but I doubt you'll need me to escort you down here in the future - I'm sure Codatorta will be fine with you being around the dragons again once you tell him that you got a clean bill of health from your doctor." Pausing for a moment, he then asked, concern clearly evident on his face, "The doctor did say that it was okay for you to be out with the dragons again, right?"

"He says I cleared to wrangle but if I start to get tired to stop and rest. He said my health's going to be a little more delicate because of Wolf and Ribestaus." She grimmaced. "But don't think that means you get to turn me into a china doll."

Sighing, Sky crossed his arms as he said, "Enough with the 'china doll' thing, okay, Christine? I mean it. Because trust me - if you would stop bringing it up when you feel like people are worrying about your health, eventually everyone would just go back to seeing you as Chris. Eventually, everyone would accept that you're fine now and then the questions about your health and the slight differences in the way they treat you would stop and things would go back to normal. I'm telling you, each time you say 'stop treating me like a china doll,' you're only reminding people that for a while there you weren't as physically strong as you used to be. But that time has pretty much passed - so let it."

"I know, I know," she said quietly. "But you know me, I'm getting far too good at putting myself down so the others don't have to." Odd, his teeth looked different - like a wolf's. Had to be the way the light was hitting his mouth, had to be. And... it did look like his hair was longer, thicker.
She was imagining things - surely. Sky couldn't be changing...
Could he?

"Yeah, I know," Sky replied quietly as he stared at Christine for a long moment before averting his gaze. Yes, she had always been that way - had always put herself down, had always lacked a sense of self-worth. It was the thing that bothered him the most about her because he could never understand why she was so hard on herself. For a while he had wondered if she criticized herself because she wanted attention, but he had dismissed that idea as something very un-Christine like. When she criticized herself, she really meant what she said. And it was because of that fact that he couldn't get severely irritated with her when she did say negative things about herself - although, he did have to admit that on occasion he had grown annoyed with her. But he was only human and even the best of friends found themselves at times fed up with the other.
Absently running his hand through his hair as he strolled around the pens saying good-bye to various dragons, Sky paused mid-step. Something felt different - as if it was suddenly thicker or more shaggy than he had remembered it to be. Closing his eyes, Sky winced. He really was losing it.

Christine walked over to him and tilted her head. "As they say on Earth, Houston, I do believe we have a..." she started to say the quote before it died on her lips as she looked at his eyes - his formerly human eyes.

Running his hand over his face, Sky paused, his eyes widening when he felt his chin. Just moments ago it had been clean shaven and now he had a full beard . . . no . . . no, something really wasn't right. Actually, something was terribly wrong.
Swallowing hard, a sense of dread and fear welling up in his stomach, Sky backed away from Christine and said quickly, "I've got to go." Not waiting for her response, he turned and hurried away from the dragon pens.

Christine sank to the ground, dumbstruck. Something about this was wrong - Ribestaus had said the curse was broken. So if this was the case then...
Her eyes widened. Sky had said he saw Darcy. Could she have hexed him? He had mentioned that she had threatened to do just that when he came back to the dorms.
She just sat there, trying to figure out how to help Sky this time.

Once out of Christine's sight, Sky fumbled in his pocket for his wallet; from it, he pulled out a cheap plastic mirror and hesitantly lifted it in front of his face. At the sight that greeted him, the mirror slipped from between his fingertips and fell softly onto the dirt. Slowly sinking to the ground, Sky felt as if he had suddenly fallen into a dream world. This couldn't be real. Not again. He couldn't deal with something like this so soon. For goodness sake, it had barely been a week since his curse had been broken and now he was looking like this? It didn't make sense. None of it made sense . . . what was happening to him? It couldn't be natural. Someone had to have done this. Someone like . . .
Darcy.
As the witch's name echoed in his mind over and over again, Sky felt sick to his stomach. Had she hexed him? She had threatened to but she hadn't . . . but what other explanation was there? It had to be her.

Christine rose from her spot. She had a witch to find. If she could find Darcy - then she could learn how to free Sky from this. She had to help Sky, she *had* to. He was her team's leader and she'd follow him, now and always.
