Faragonda's laughter sounded like richly ringing church bells. "Oh, Flora! Have a little faith in your friends!" She walked back behind her desk and sat back down. "You know there was once a time where even romantic relations between Specialists and faeries was forbidden. Look at how that has changed."
Faragonda paused to examine the expression on Palladium's face. She then again addressed Flora.
"Flora, the entire essence of mastering your Winx is to listen to your heart and let it guide you to manifest your power externally. You have always been one of the post forthcoming students and mature beyond your years both in matters of the heart and mastering your Winx abilities. That is certainly one of the reasons that Professor Palladium has noticed you." Faragonda didn't need to divert her eyes to know that Palladium was looking quite flustered at that acknowledgement. "To deny your feelings and ignore what your heart is telling you will undo everything you have worked towards in discovering your Winx abilities. Don't regress backwards. Take your feelings and create with them something marvelous. Only then can you reach your full potential, Flora."
((OOC: Yeah, cheezy, I know--but it suits the mood of the show, right?))

"I didn't know that fairies and Specialists weren't allowed to love each other before," Flora admitted. "How'd that change?"
Flora by now was quite crimson in her blushing as she listened to what her headmistress had to say. "Of course, Miss Faragonda," she managed to say without stammering too badly. She glanced over at Professor Palladium to see how he was reacting to what the headmistress said. Hopefully... he'd accept what the headmistress suggested.. Hopefully? Right?

Palladium stared at the ground, his face drawn taut in a mixed expression of thought and shock. Never, not for even a moment, did he ever imagine that Ms. Faragonda would be so . . . understanding about the situation. He had prepared himself to be bombarded with criticism, disgust, disappointment, and so forth . . . but instead here he was, standing in this office, listening to Ms. Faragonda hint that being in a relationship with a student was not the worst offense he could commit. But that didn't change things. Not in the least. He had still acted in an inappropriate fashion, and truth be told, he was disappointed in himself. After all, he had always fancied that his character was pure.
But Faragonda was right about something else: it would also be irresponsible of him to leave Alfea with such short notice - or to be more exact, no notice. It would indeed leave the school short-handed and that would only hurt the other students. It wouldn't be fair.
Turning to Faragonda, Palladium replied carefully, "If you find it acceptable, Ms. Faragonda, I will agree to remain on staff for at least a while longer. In this time period perhaps you will find a suitable replacement - or if you should need any recommendations, I know of several competent teachers in my field who I can contact."

"And I'm willing to transfer to another school - at least for select lessons. I wouldn't want to affect Professor Palladium in any undue fashion," Flora said quietly. She looked at Professor Palladium and then looked away. Silently, she hoped what they confessed to each other was the truth, and not some lie. She.. *did*... love him.
And damn it, would he just look at her. At least acknowledge she was standing there.

Palladium shook his head when he heard Flora's words. Turning to directly acknowledge her for the first time since the start of the meeting, he elaborated, though his voice remained carefully intact, "I do not believe it is necessary for you to transfer. At most, I expect to remain here at Alfea for two more weeks. After that, I will simply return to my home in Athryell."
Acknowledging Faragonda, Palladium continued, "Therefore, because I intend to stay for only a short while longer, I do not see a point in Flora interrupting the flow of her studies . . . I understand that it will be somewhat . . . awkward for Flora to remain in my class; however, you have my word, for what it is worth, that I will conduct myself in a manner more suitable to my line of work - I owe at least that to this institution and to you, Ms. Faragonda."

Griselda re-entered, looking unusually haggard. She only heard the part about both Flora and Palladium wishing to resign. "Both of you, stop it. I'm the one who needs to take some time off. I've been well....sick. And honestly, I....I just need some rest now." What are you doing, admitting even THAT much to a student?!

Flora simply blinked at what Miss Griselda said. Okay, who dropped her into parallel Alfea? Things stopped making sense about several hours ago. Too bad she was underage - she felt like she could use a tall stiff drink. 'We entered, what did Bloom say it was? The Twilight Zone, when exactly?' Flora thought.
The only way Flora thought that things could get stranger is if Professor Palladium actually up and kissed her right in front of the headmistress and the head of discipline. Not that she wouldn't mind but... 'Flora, stop it. Your heart and hormones are what got you into this mess in the first place,' she mentally lectured herself.

What an absolute disaster this has all become. I would do anything if I could just go back and change my actions; at least that way I wouldn't feel as though my entire world is being tilted precariously . . .
Palladium glanced around the room. Flicking his gaze toward Faragonda, Palladium's eyes instead settled on the window behind her.
It's a beautiful day - the weather presents perfect conditions for a walk in the forest or by the lake; I will have to remember to do this before I return home. Of course, knowing my luck, it will rain or something equally unfortunate will dampen my plans. Palladium laughed inwardly at his pun; it was a rare instance when he managed to be funny, at least by his definition of humor, and so he relished the moment.
Yes, I will have to do several things before I go back to Athryell. But most certainly I'll have to take a final tour of my favorite places; after all, I will have no purpose to ever return here, but I do not want to forget what this place is like. It has treated me well . . . I'll miss it. Palladium swallowed back the knot that was growing in his throat. And I'll miss her as well . . . no. No, I can't think that. If I don't think it then it can't be true. It won't be true. She is - was - my student. Nothing more. There will never be anything more. In two weeks time I will return home and that will be the end. The end. No questions, no doubts. Just the end.

"Will ALL of you stop being so ridiculous?!" Faradgonda's tone suddenly rose to one of annoyance. "The school year hasn't even started and you are already giving up because a challenge has come?"
She took off her glasses and cleaned them, and looked at her professors. "You two. Setting a very poor example to our students by going bellyup at the first sign of difficulty. I will not have either of you leaving--for two weeks or forever. You have students that look to you for strength, and I will not allow Alfea to become a sinking ship."

Flora went ramrod straight when Miss Faragonda's voice went annoyed. 'This is getting stranger by the minute,' she thought. Her eyes moistened for a moment. 'I'll truly miss him if he leaves...' She swallowed a small lump and tried to not think about it.

Griselda shook herself. "You bring up a good point, Faragonda. Has this matter been sorted out?"
(OOC: She doesn't have to tell her exactly how it was. ;D )

Flora glanced over at the professor, silently wondering exactly where they stood after all this was said and done. More over, whether or not he was actually listening to Miss Faragonda. She shook herself mentally. She had things to plan - what with Miss Faragonda allowing her to graduate early...
"Miss Faragonda, the classes I took during the summer? Would they count as classes I took this year?" She hoped they did - she had spent too many hours working on aromagictherapy and advanced potionology courses that she would be highly disappointed if they weren't.

A challenge? Palladium mentally repeated Faragonda's words, his tone clearly sardonic. "Surely, Ms. Faragonda you know that situation is more than a challenge - it's a pure disgrace.
But Palladium did not dare to actually voice his opinion. Instead he smiled and spoke in a manner more fitting to the normal, positive character that the others had come to expect of him, "Of course you are right, Ms. Faragonda; I have the obligation to all my students and to this school to fix my actions - not run away from them."
Inwardly Palladium sighed; he was becoming quite the actor. But he'd have to become an even better one if he was to successfully remain at Alfea in Flora's presence. He wasn't going to make the same mistake twice; he'd stay away from her this time. And he if stayed away from her for a long enough period of time, maybe, just maybe, he'd begin to forget her. And then he would be able to forget this whole fiasco along with the temporary glitch in his judgment.

"Most certainly, Flora." Faragonda smiled to the young girl. "But only if you are planning to continue the course you are taking."
Her smile quickly faded, "Though I regret to say that for propriety's sake, you will have to satisfy your credits taking classes from professors other than Professor Palladium. Please try to understand."
After a pause, Faragonda sat back at her desk and entwined her thin fingers together, hiding her mouth as she spoke. "Now I think we have all come to an agreement that no disciplinary action is necessary. The months you will be facing will be reprimand enough for my tastes. I would like things to continue as normal. I will trust that both of you will conduct yourselves properly and put the interests of this school before those of your own."
