Good-naturedly, he countered, "What do you want me to think of him?" Teasingly, he added, "I hate to disappoint my lady with my stupid opinions, so I think I'll let her come up with them for me."

"I'm going to guess and say you think he's neat," she said, her voice sounding very unsure. "I guess my uncle is pretty intimidating," she admitted. Her eyes brightened. "Do you really mean that? That I'm your lady?"

"Yep," Sky replied, ruffling her hair affectionately. "I was beginning to think that only prissy, prim girls existed, but my eyes were happily awakened to the contrary when you came along."

Christine beamed. "You'll find I'm an exception to many rules," she said with a giggle. "Like my standing in front of you soaked to the bone in my undies instead of jumping back in the lake so you didn't see me in my wet undies," she said, greatly amused. "But let's not tell my mother that - I think she'd have a heart attack and die on the spot."

Grinning, Sky replied, "Tell your mother . . . what a lovely idea; perhaps I should go find her right now." Though he had no real intention of tattling on Christine, Sky decided to have a little fun. Taking a few dancing steps backward, he called out, "Catch me if you can!" And then he took off running in the direction of Christine's cottage.

Christine had the distinct urge to say some rather unladylike things. She started to run after him. "Oh, don't you dare!" she called.

Clearly having an advantage as he had one, a head start, and two, rather longs legs that allowed him to cover a great distance quickly, Sky laughed, knowing that she would be fuming mad at him. "You'll never catch me, slow-poke!"

"That's not fair!" she cried, stopping. "You've got longer legs then me," she said. She huffed and settled down under a tree to pout. It wasn't fair, wasn't fair at all.

The sound of Sky's laughing voice was carried by the wind. "Didn't you ever learn that if you give up you'll never succeed?," Sky called out. "If you keep standing under that tree, you'll be a loooooser; don't want that, now do you, Christine?"

"I'm tired," she said. "I was running all day, remember," she pointed out. She heaved a small sigh and tucked her knees under her chin. She was tired and needed to rest. She allowed her eyes to close for a moment and she was soon asleep under the tree.

Looking back over at Christine, Sky sighed and absently kicked his shoe against the ground. It wasn't fun to go off running when he had no one to compete against. Smiling wryly, he spoke to no one in particular, "She's always ruining my fun."
Walking back over to the tree under which Christine was fast asleep, Sky plopped down next to her, moving to lie down on his back so that he could look up at the sky through the leaves. Soon, his eyes grew heavy and he was sound asleep as well.

Christine slept peacefully, a content smile her face. For once, during this entire visit, she felt a sense of peace. When Sky was around - the bad visions were few and far between. She sighed quietly in her sleep, grateful to see that for once, not a single vision interrupted her sleep.

A few hours later, Sky awoke with a start, for a moment forgetting where he was. Glancing around him and remembering that he had been out with Christine, who, Sky noticed, was still fast asleep, he got up and started to stretch before he felt an ache pulse in his leg, forcing him to sit back down. Wryly, he smiled. Perhaps he should have heeded Christine's advice and stayed off his feet for a while longer - suddenly all that running around he had done that day didn't seem like such a wise idea. Bending down, Sky flinched as he massaged his leg, gently pulling up the leg of his pants to look at how his gashes had healed. Not wanting to look at his ugly scars, Sky quietly readjusted his pant-leg and leaned against the tree, waiting for Christine to awake.

Christine stirred slowly, yawning quietly. "Hm?" she asked, sleepily. "What time is it?" She looked rather sleepy - almost like Sleeping Beauty after she was kissed and slowly waking up. She yawned again and smiled at him.

"Time for you to get up," Sky replied, not looking down into her eyes, knowing that she would see immediately that he was in pain. It's not that he thought Christine would tease him or anything like that - he just didn't want her worrying about him. He knew that if she saw that he was even in the slightest bit of pain, she'd have a fit. It was better to save her from the trouble of what was just a throbbing ache in his leg. It wasn't as if he was dying or anything.
