Pausing, Alice turned around as she said with a quiet laugh, "Don't be silly; Alfea is miles away from here. I was just planning on waiting for a bus to take me to the edge of town and then I'll fly the rest of the way back to Alfea."

Walking back over to Alice, Sky asked as he rocked back and forth on the balls of his feet, "You know when the next bus is coming?" When Alice shook her head no, Sky bit his lip and then said, "It's really silly for you to wait out here for who knows how long when my levabike is parked a few blocks away. Why don't you let me give you a lift?" Quickly he added teasingly, "It's the least I can do to repay you for introducing me to The Java House."

Tilting her head slightly to the side, Alice replied, "Well, in that case, how can I resist?"
-
"So this is your bike?" Alice asked as she lightly ran her hand over the sleek exterior. "It's nice - really clean," she added with a light laugh. "But I should probably tell you now that I've never been on one of these things . . ."

"So you don't know what to expect," Sky said, finishing her thought. "Well, let's see; pretty much the only thing you need to know is that it's fast, but most people like that about it. You'll obviously need to wear a helmet just in case of any freak accident - which so far I have yet to experience," Sky added reassuringly. "And I guess, my only advice is just to relax and have fun." With a laugh, he said, "Who knows - perhaps you'll get as addicted to riding bikes as I probably will be to that coffee."
Handing Alice a helmet, Sky then put his own on and got onto the bike. Glancing back over his shoulder at her, he smiled and said, "Hop on."

Quickly pulling her hair back into a ponytail so that it wouldn't blow onto her face, Alice then pulled the helmet over her head and climbed onto the back of the bike. Hesitating for a moment, Alice inwardly laughed at her silliness before she wrapped her arms around Sky, lightly resting against his back. For goodness sake, it wasn't as if she was doing anything wrong. He was just a friend who was giving her a lift which just so happened to entail her having to press her body against his. No big deal . . .
Or at least it wouldn't have been if he had been dull instead of charming during coffee.

Some fifteen minutes later, Sky pulled his bike to a smooth halt in Alfea's courtyard. Taking off his helmet, Sky hopped off the bike and then offered his hand to help Alice down as he said, "I hope that I didn't keep you out too late; I'd hate for you to get in trouble with Faragonda and Griselda-"

Glancing down the dark courtyard, Alice wrapped her arms around herself to ward off the slightly chilly air before she said with a soft laugh, "Well, even though we're technically supposed to be in before dark, it's the weekend and so Ms. Faragonda tends to be a little more lenient." Pausing for a moment, she suddenly added boldly, "And even if she wasn't, tonight would have been worth getting in trouble for." Not giving Sky a chance to respond, Alice leaned up and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before she stepped back and said before she hurried inside, "Goodnight, Sky."
