Flora ran a hand through her hair, and felt more then a bit exhausted. Stella had dragged her shopping - again. Only this time, it was to pick up costumes for the bi-school play. Somehow, Stella had gotten it into her head that she could pick out better costumes and had dragged her along to be a clothing model.
"Stel, we've been in this shop for three hours and haven't found a thing. Can we go home?" she asked in an uncharacteristic whine.

"Go home?" Stella all but shrieked as she clutched a swatch of pale yellow fabric to her chest. "Go home?" With a short laugh, she asked with lifted brows, "And you've known me how long now, sweetie? Surely long enough to know that I shop 'til I drop - and I'm not even pooped in the slightest! Besides, don't you want to have a pretty costume to wear or would you rather be stuck in a painted cardboard box?" Not waiting for an answer, Stella breezed ahead and nodded as she chirped, "Uh huh. That's what I thought."

Flora paused. "Stella, I play a teapot in the school play. I don't wear a pretty gown until the end," she started. She didn't feel like asking Stella if this was her way to get back at the director for not giving her a starring role. She walked over and examined several of the dresses.
"Stella... is it just me, or do all the dresses you've picked out of the Belle character require a corset?"

Arching a brow, Stella replied, "Yes, and your point?" Flicking her bangs out of her eyes, she continued with a pout, "If you mean to imply that I'm trying to torture Christine in some twisted way, you're wrong." Holding up the costume she had picked out for her own part, Stella said, "See? I'm going to be wearing a corset too - as will the majority of the females. We all may look like twigs when we're offstage, but I guarantee that with all the lights that are going to be shining on us when we're onstage, it's going to make us look all gross and lumpy. Corsets are simply my solution to streamlining our appearance." Tapping the side of her head, Stella finished triumphantly, "See - I'm thinking ahead; you should be proud!"

"It's just on my homeworld, corset means that "I hate breathing"," Flora said with a laugh. "Besides, like I said before. I play a teapot so I don't get a pretty dress until after "Belle" breaks the curse."

Sticking out her tongue playfully, Stella then replied, "Well, don't think you can escape me, missy; you'll be joining the rest of the corset-wearing female cast in our torture at the end of the play when you're in your pretty dress." Giving Flora a nudge, Stella said, her eyes sparkling, "You didn't think I'd let you off that easy, now did you?"

"I was hoping," Flora said blandly. "Besides, I already feel silly wearing the teapot costume. Although, I feel sorry for Sky. His costume," she paused to giggle. "I don't even want to know what the director was on when they designed it. It looks like they threw a half dozen animals into a blender or worse, it was designed by a committee that couldn't agree on anything."

"Well, I for one know why Sky doesn't seem to be able to catch a break - karma. He has bad, bad, terrible karma. Mmhmm," Stella said with a sharp nod. "After all that he's dragged poor Bloom through there's no way that the forces that be will let him get off that easy. No, I expect that he'll have to go through a lot more crap before he redeems himself." Crossing her arms stubbornly, Stella said, "And that's how it should be. Sky is a jerk through and through and I wish Brandon would stop hanging out with him. I'm worried that Sky's negative energy will rub off on my sweet cupcake! And then what will happen?"

"Brandon is Sky's bodyguard so he has no choice but to hang out with Sky," Flora pointed out for the hundredth time (at least, that's what it felt like). Of course, she didn't believe that Sky had bad karma and that was why he was constantly getting the short end of the stick.
"Anyway, we should be nice and pick out a few costumes for him," Flora said diplomatically. "Besides, the costume he wears at the end, for the death scene. Ugh. It's so last three centuries as you would say."

Stella wrinkled her nose at the thought of helping Sky before she finally relented with a reluctant, "I suppose we could find him something decent, but I warn you, my heart won't be in it." With a grin better fit for some type of fiend, Stella said, "And because of that, I can't be held responsible if I pick out something hideous; you can call it . . . clouded judgment."

"Well, I'm here so I'll make sure you don't go even more last century," Flora said with a soft laugh. "So, what would be good for a beast..."

"Something brown and scraggly?" Stella offered with a disdainful snort. "But, in the true spirit of the story, it must be our mission to find something absolutely hideous for Sky to wear. Why? Well, we can't very well have a handsome beast - that would entirely cancel out the likelihood that people find him scary and threatening, now wouldn't it? And then we would have no plot for the play because if the beast was handsome than every village girl would be flocking to his castle as opposed to just Belle."

"True, but did you see the costume for the ball scene?" Flora asked, wrinkling her nose. "It's like psychadelic yellow and green." She shuddered. "Even if he's supposed to be a beast, I can't see him wearing that."

Stella sighed as she relented, "Well, I suppose you're right, Flo; as much as I would enjoy torturing Sky, it wouldn't be right to do that at the audience's expense - because you know as well as I do that if they have to see that yellow-green getup the janitor will be cleaning up a lot of vomit off the floors. Perhaps instead we could find something more along the lines of blue velvet? Not for his entire outfit, of course, but maybe to make a sort of jacket?"

"Oh, that would look lovely. Especially against that golden silk dress that Belle has to wear," Flora said, sighing softly.
