"In that case," Dr. Witherspoon replied matter-of-factly, "my advice would simply be for you to rest for a couple hours before you attempt any more traveling. However, since it is clear to me that your pain is causing you discomfort, I will also prescribe you some mild painkillers." With a kind smile, he added, "They should make falling asleep a bit easier, I imagine." Rummaging in his bag for a few moments, he finally pulled out a small bottle. "Here you are," he said, handing her two pills. "Take these and I assure you that the pain will be gone shortly."

"Thank you, doctor," Christine said quietly. She sat up slowly, holding where she had been injured. She took the pills and swallowed them, following them with a small glass of water. She lay back down and sighed quietly. "So how worried was he?" she asked sleepily, referring to the prince.

Not too keen on discussing what he had a sneaking suspicion was veering off into the territory of the too personal, Dr. Witherspoon said noncommittally as he rose to his feet, "Oh, I suppose he was about as worried as anyone would be given the circumstances. But don't you think about anything right now, Lady Strongheart; you just focus on getting yourself some rest." With that, Dr. Witherspoon picked up his medical bag and then turned and very quietly exited the room.

Christine nodded and yawned softly before drifting off to sleep, something she found herself needing more and more these days. One too many sleepless nights...

At the sound of footsteps coming down the stairs, Alice turned her head to see who it was. First the doctor descended, who was followed shortly thereafter by Sky. As the two drew closer, Alice was relieved to see that their faces were not grim - a good sign, probably, that Sky's friend would be all right. Moments later, the doctor confirmed her thoughts as he said that the Lady Strongheart needed only rest for a few hours.
With a smile of relief, Alice felt her hopes for the evening rise once more. Because Christine wasn't deathly ill or anything of the sort, there was again the possibility that things could become less suffocating and more pleasant.
