Happy Rememberance Day everyone. I hope posting this is ok, this holiday is a very big one in my family as we are all military people and I would feel very bad if I did not do something for it. So I share with you a poem (on of my favorites). This poem was written by a J.A Armstrong in response to the 1915 poem 'In Flanders Fields.' In Flanders Fields the cannons boom, And fitful flashes light the gloom; While up above, like eagles, fly The fierce destroyers of the sky; With stains the earth wherein you lie Is redder than the poppy bloom, In Flanders Fields. Sleep on, ye brave! The shrieking shell, The quaking trench, the startling yell, The fury of the battle hell Shall wake you not, for all is well; Sleep peacefully, for all is well. Your flaming torch aloft we bear, With burning heart and oath we swear To keep the faith, to fight it through, To crush the foe, or sleep with you, In Flanders Fields. ~~By J.A. Armstrong.~~ This and other poems can be found here: homepages.tesco.net/derek.berger/holidays/remembrance.html"If you can read this thank a teacher. If it's in English thank a soldier."- from a bumpersticker I saw on a car once.
