"Scared? No. My Sky could never scare me - no matter what. You," she said, purposely keeping her voice light, "don't scare me. You just irritate me beyond belief." She gave him a mock growl. "And stop calling me Chrissy, damn it. It was cute when I was a child. It's irritating beyond belief now that I'm an adult."

"Oh, quite the contrary, Chriss- I mean, my fairy princess. I am your Sky. Actually, scratch that; I am a better version of your Sky. But I am still your Lyon. I've just changed a little - and since when has change really harmed anyone? Exactly. It hasn't. Change is for the best. Change can bring happiness. You do want me happy, don't you, my beautiful fairy princess? You would hate to see me sad or bored, wouldn't you? Because that was what I was as a hero. Bored. But don't worry; I wasn't bored with you - at least not yet. You were a nice change from Bloom, I'll give you that. Although, in the long run, I do believe that it would have been you who I kicked to the curb; after all, Bloom isn't the one who is a half-breed."
Knowing that he had attacked Christine where she was weakest, Sky smiled wickedly. He had to admit, it was quite fun to be evil.

"Do the world a favor," Christine hissed, her voice cold. "Go to back to the hell you were spawned from." Her blue eyes flashed dangerously. "You know, I liked you better when you were merged with a dragon. At least you had better manners and looked better!"

Without warning, Sky suddenly fell to his knees, a grimace of pain sweeping over his features. As he remained in his crouched position, the strangest of sights began to occur: alternating back and forth, Sky's body rapidly switched from his darkened form to his normal self and back again - almost as though the good and light in him was fighting to break free from Darkar's grasp.

Christine's blue eyes watched the scene before her intently, a look of complete confusion sweeping across her pale features. She made move to reach out and touch him but the chains prevented her. She lowered her hand, and lowered her eyes. Unlike Sky, she was far more bound to Darkar. She would do anything to protect him - even serve Darkar to keep him from using Sky in any way that would cause him harm.

As Sky fought to suppress the darkness that was plaguing him, he turned his head slightly toward Christine, trying to give her a smile that would show that he, the real him, was still there - that he had not left her at the hands of Darkar. Feeling the darkness overcome him again, Sky quickly jerked his face away from Christine, not able to bear to have her see him as that dark monster.
After several moments more, Sky returned to his feet, his dark self clearly the victor of the fight. Brushing the dirt off his uniform, Sky laughed mockingly as he looked at Christine, "I guess your hero wasn't such a good match for me after all. You would think with all those heroics classes that he has taken, he would have been able to last a bit longer against me - but then again, fighting one's own darkness was never one of their lessons. So perhaps we should all give your Lyon a round of applause for that wonderful, albeit unsuccessful, try."

Christine bowed her head and wept, silently. She felt more alone then ever - the Sky she knew was lost under the darkness and he obviously was having trouble fighting it. She only wished that she could take that darkness from him. "He will beat you. I have faith in him."

"Then I am afraid that your faith is misplaced. But, do as you wish - it matters not to me because I know who will win. I can feel it. Your Sky is too weak to fight me. And, although you probably do not wish to hear this, he will stay weak. There's no hope for him or for you to escape - so you might as well give up on that fantasy."

"I'm a seer, I can see that he will beat you. I believe in him, now and always. And he has my heart and my love, and love will conquer evil. Even you," she tossed back at him, subconciously using Sky's own words. She only hoped that her love and faith wasn't misplaced like that demon was implying it was.

"Very well," Sky replied in mild amusement. "But despite what you may think, I do not wish to fight with you." Giving Christine a grin that was almost like one that the true Sky would give, he added, "You just make it so easy with your stubbornness."
Turning away from her, Sky then approached Darkar. "If it pleases you, I think now would be as good a time as any for me to go to Red Fountain to find the Codex. They won't be expecting an attack so soon - we will be able to catch them off their guard and it will make it that much easier to get you what you want. Besides, you said it yourself - I'm restless to actually do something other than standing around here and talking. Talk is cheap. Action is what counts."

Christine gave him a small smile. "Do you really think they're that unprepared? I'm sure that they are already preparing for your reappearence. Do remember that these are well trained heros that you are going to be going up against."
She looked away, not wanting the demon to see her cry.

Sky gave Christine a backward glance as he replied, a touch of smugness in his voice, "But I know how they fight. I know how to take them down. After all, I was once their leader." Pausing, Sky continued after a moment of reflective silence, "No, they don't stand a chance. But that's not really my concern, now is it?"

"You don't think Professors Cordatorta and Saladin aren't going to fight you?" she pointed out quietly. Normally, she would have wished Sky good luck - but she didn't want this demon to win.

"They're slow," Sky replied blandly. "They plot and plot and plot. It'll take them forever to actually come to a consensus on how to act. By the time they do finalize a plan, the Codex will have been placed in Darkar's hands long ago. The way I see it, there's no way I can lose. As it goes, the odds are all in my favor."

Christine said nothing, her heart no longer in fighting the demon Sky had become. She only hoped that Saladin and Cordatorta could beat him. She felt so weak, so tired, so old. She blissfully collapsed - the strain of the verbal battle, the vision and her raging emotions pushing her over the edge. A long streak of snow white colored her dark hair - the only other time that had happened when she was a child and after one vision too many.
