Baltor allowed Sky to bump into him - just so he could get a glimpse of Sky's aura, what the prince was capable of. If he could.. and if that went that way... Oh, the chaos he could commit - even more so while under the guise of the prince. He had to keep himself from laughing out loud at the thought. He could just imagine the prince's reaction if they did switch..

As the music continued and the couples laughed and danced around her, Bloom came to one conclusion: she really needed to stop being so rash and start using her head more than her heart. She had jumped the gun earlier with Sky and had only managed to scare him off. What if that had been her only shot to get him alone and break the spell? She should have convinced him to dance with her; reminded him of the first dance at Alfea that she had attended, or the barefoot waltz they had shared on the fountain in the park. She should have tried to reminisce instead of jumping right to the crying and pleading.
She was pathetic. And selfish. God, she was being selfish! This was Stella’s night and all she could do was cry and beat herself up over her stupid actions. This was Stella’s night! And with so few Winx girls in attendance, Stella needed Bloom to be happy and excited for her, not bring her down.
Stella had been through so much lately, and finally her life was back on track. Brandon had his memories back and they seemed to just pick right up where they had left off; this whole party was being thrown in her honour, and if her parents really were getting back together, then this would be the best night of Stella’s life. And she deserved it!
I am not going to ruin this for her. Take a deep breath, smile, and cheer her on when she makes her debut. It’s what friends do, and she’s been a better friend than I could have ever hoped for.
Taking a deep breath, she tried a small smile. It would do for now. She knew as soon as Stella showed up looking gorgeous in her gown, it would become larger and completely genuine. She truly was happy for her friend and hoped this night turned out to be everything Stella dreamed it would.

After a brief conversation with the prince, Baltor made his way past him, heading off to get to his real purpose for being there - getting a jumpstart on his power. He didn't like being weak - hated it with a passion. He hadn't bothered to pay attention to where he was walking, too lost in thought, and walked into another person - a young woman with red hair. A name long forgotten escaped his lips, almost without his thinking. "Ria?" he asked, looking at her but not really seeing her.
He shook himself mentally and offered her a gracious smile and a deep bow. "You must forgive me, I was lost in thought and you reminded me of someone I knew."

Cowering against the wall and trying to remain as inconspicuous and uninteresting as possible, Bloom was surprised when she was suddenly knocked off balance. Reaching her hand out to steady herself against the wall, she inwardly cursed the skinny heels of her shoes and looked up at the almost dazed expression of the man in front of her.
He was tall and very handsome, but there was something else about him; something strange and familiar. A feeling like she knew him, or that she should know him. Shaking the feeling away when he smiled and spoke, it was difficult to return the smile without it appearing simply confused and forced.
“No, no, it’s fine. I wasn’t watching where I was... standing,” she replied, lamely. But she couldn’t curb her curiosity. “I hope the memories weren’t bad ones.”

"A mixture of both," Baltor said, bringing Bloom's hand up to kiss it like a proper gentleman. "You simply reminded me of a woman I had loved and lost."

The man was handsome, charming and a true gentleman… so why did she want to snatch her hand away the moment he touched it? The kiss on her hand sent a chill down her spine though he presented no outward malicious appearance. On the contrary, he had truly appeared shaken by her appearance.
“I’m sorry,” she said, her brows pinching together slightly as she looked up at him. She could still feel a strong aching in her heart after her previous meeting with Sky, so for a moment she was able to push away any odd feelings she had for this man and sympathise with him.
Except I haven’t lost Sky. Not yet. Not without a fight.

Baltor gave a simple nod in return. It wouldn't do to give her his true name, lest she call for help. Besides, it wouldn't hurt to have just a little fun. "Armand Vernier, at your service, m'lady," he said quietly.

Even his name sounded charming and exotic. Bloom had the feeling that he was being either modest or deceptive in not preceding the name with a title. He had an air of power and royalty about him that one simply couldn’t fake. But then again, Bloom herself was supposed to be a princess, and she lacked the grace, poise and pretty much every other proper quality required, so appearances could be deceiving.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Vernier, my name is – oh!” Bloom suddenly cried, mid introduction, as the curtsy she had been attempting went horribly awry, sending her falling forward. She really needed to work on those. Every time she ended up looking like an idiot!

OOC: okay, officially squicked out by the ads by google since it's a convo between Bloom and Baltor and the ad is for a quiz asking if you wanted to take a "fun romance quiz" ::shudder:: So. Wrong.
Baltor quickly caught her and helped her to right herself. "Careful now," he lightly admonished. "The floor isn't that lovely that you have to introduce yourself to it."

(OOC: that is just wrong)
As soon as he touched her, Bloom felt that odd feeling again. She couldn’t quite understand it. He was perfectly polite and charming, yet he set her on edge. It was disconcerting.
“I’m sorry!” Bloom laughed, nervously. “To tell the truth, I’m new at this whole thing,” she explained, gesturing around them. “But shh, don’t tell anyone. It will ruin the perfect image I’ve been putting forth all night.”

"Your secret is safe with me," Baltor said, watching Bloom carefully. That voice in the back of his head perked up and started whispering something, something that wasn't clear. He'd deal with that headache later. His eyes glanced to the dance floor and back at Bloom. "Care to dance?"

The suggestion of a dance took Bloom by surprise. The very thought of being that close to this man sent chills down her spine. Why did he have such an affect on her? And why did he seem almost familiar? It was as if, even though she had never met him, that she should know who he was.
Hesitating a moment, she weighed her options. She could easily refuse and go back to being a wallflower until Stella made her appearance, but if her friend found out that she was refusing to dance with other men because they weren’t Sky, Stella would have a complete fit. Swallowing a little too loudly, Bloom slowly nodded.
“I would be delighted.”

Baltor carefully took Bloom's hand and guided her out onto the dance floor. He gently placed one of her hands on his waist and held the other. "I'll lead," he whispered, moments before coaxing her into a graceful (or an attempt at a graceful) waltz.
