OOC: Follows the Confusion thread
As Sky walked along the lake's edge, a thousand thoughts were swirling through his mind. Fortunately, one of them wasn't whether or not he was sure he wanted to end things with Bloom. He was. For once in his life he was 100% certain about something. And it felt good. But he was concerned about how she would take the news. They hadn't spoken in what felt like such a long time that he couldn't help but feel tense about how she would react. It was hard to tell most times with Bloom. She was, in one word, unpredictable. There was the chance that she would blow up on him, which, in the recent past, had appeared to be the latest trend; but then there was the Bloom who was a good sport - who was gracious and who saw the positive in the negative. He couldn't lie, though; he hoped that it was the latter Bloom who greeted him today.
As he came to a stop, Sky stuck his hands in his pockets. He wasn't sure what to say to draw her out. In fact, if he didn't know better, he'd think it laughable to suggest that a mermaid would live in these waters. It was too peaceful. The surface too serene and calm. It was almost as though nothing existed but the water.
Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Sky frowned as he called out tentatively, "Bloom? Are you there? It's me, Sky."

Having had Mar teach her his trick of knowing when someone was calling Bloom heard Sky calling her name. Bloom quietly told Mar she would be back in a minute before venturing to the surface.
Breaking the surface not that far from where Sky was standing Bloom swam over to the edge. "Hello Sky." Bloom said when she reached the shore.

"Bloom. Hi." Sky replied, suddenly feeling a new wave of nervousness wash over him. Not exactly sure how to begin, Sky decided that it was probably a better idea to work up to what he was here to say as opposed to just dropping the bomb on her right away. With a slightly uncertain smile, he asked, "Uh . . . so how are you?"

Pulling herself out of the water so they might have some semblance of a normal conversation. "I'm good. And how are you? It's been ages since I've seen you."

"I know," Sky replied as he shifted uncomfortably on his feet. "And I'm sorry for that - I've just been . . . busy." Knowing that he was starting to lose his nerve, Sky blurted out suddenly, "Look, Bloom - there is a reason why I'm here today. I want to talk about us - our relationship. You know I think you're a really great girl. For the past year and a half we've had our share of both good and bad times and I will always care about you . . . but . . . but I don't think that we're working out. And it's not because of you or because of me, I just think that we're not meant to be. I mean, haven't you noticed that in the recent past we've fought more than we've gotten along? That's just not healthy and neither one of us deserves to be in a relationship where we're not happy. And Bloom, I hate to say this, but I'm not happy."

"Would you sit down. I'm getting a crick in my neck." Bloom demanded. "I applaud you for finally speaking up for what you want but there are two people involved in this. So your not happy, do you really think that breaking it off with me is going to make it all better?" Bloom asked, mentally wishing she was back with Mar, this was going to be a rather interesting morning.

Taking a seat, Sky sighed as he replied, "Yeah, I do, Bloom. I mean, come on, honestly - are you happy? Do you think that what we have now is even a fraction of what it used to be? I don't. I think we've changed and I don't think that we could ever go back to the way it was. We've tried before, haven't we? And it didn't seem to work. How much more trying are we going to do before we realize that maybe we're not meant to be, even if we once thought we were?"

"You really think that breaking it off with me is going to make everything better? I don't. But your right we aren't a fraction of what we were. But then you being a dragon and a were wolf and me a mermaid hasn't helped manners any." Bloom paused for a moment, "And, Sky, honestly yeah I am happy. But I have one question for you. Was this break up your idea or something you mother and latest lady put on you? Sorry that was a little harsh but is this because you want it or because your mother finally wore you down with her dislike of me?"

Sky frowned as he replied, "I won't lie . . . we both know that my mother isn't exactly a big fan of yours. And yes, she did speak with me about my relationship with you. And yes, she was in favor of me breaking it off with you. But that isn't why I'm ending things, Bloom. I sincerely mean that. I mean, things had been off between us for a long time before I even spoke with my mother about you and me. I guess what I'm saying is that I've been having doubts - big doubts - about us for a while now. And they're not going away, Bloom. They're just . . . not. So what's the point in trying to prolong this? What's the point in trying to pretend that we'll ever get back to what we shared once? Don't get me wrong," Sky smiled sadly as he continued, "what we had was . . . perfect. We were good for each other. We made each other laugh and we made each other happy and it was great while it lasted. But don't you see? It's faded now. This is probably a completely stupid question, but tell me the truth, Bloom, when you see me, do you get butterflies in your stomach? Do you still feel some sort of anticipation? Do you miss me when I'm not around? Or are you just indifferent to my presence? Because I don't want someone who feels the same way alone as they do when they're with me. I want someone who will always be thrilled to be with me . . . does that make any sense whatsoever?"

Taking a deep breath, "Your right it's not like it was and to be honest I don't want it to back to how it was. I'm not going to dwell about the past anymore." Bloom admitted as she spotted a lone female slowly making her way down to the lake. She was willing to let Sky go but not without one last shot at the newest girl in his life. "I leave you with one thought. Even if you find the one that you love, who misses you and has butterflies every time she sees you; are you going to be able to stand up to your mother if she is not the perfect little princess? I am just as royal as you are, I probably even come from a longer line but my manners were not what your mother wanted. What is she going to find wrong with your current love?" Bloom asked noting that the girl was getting fairly close now. Curling her fins underneath herself Bloom launched her self at Sky; wrapping her arms around him she gave him one last kiss and whispered Good Bye before letting go and siding back into the water.
Once her scales had reabsorbed some of the water she lost from sitting above the water Bloom swam back to the surface not that far away from Sky, curious about how her parting gift would be taken. studying the girl that was now standing with Sky, Bloom had to admit that even with the multi colored hair she was pretty.

OOC: assuming Bloom was refering to me. I'll delete this if it wasn't
Christine pinched the bridge of her nose when Bloom gave her parting gift to Sky. Was that supposed to make her jealous? Because... it wasn't. Not by a long shot. If anything, it amused her that Bloom thought she could make her jealous. As if she and Sky had a relationship that was like the one Bloom was making it out to be. She trusted Sky to do the right thing - she always had trusted Sky. Which probably wasn't too wise, but, she gave herself a mental shrug. He was team leader and more importantly, he was her friend.
"Sky?" she asked softly, running a hand through her colored locks. "You okay?" She made her way closer to him, to see how he was doing. "Wanna talk about what happened?"
She sat down on the bank and stared out at the lake. "You don't have to, if you don't want to," she added. "Really. I'm not forcing you to talk about it."

Curling her fins underneath herself Bloom launched her self at Sky; wrapping her arms around him she gave him one last kiss and whispered Good Bye before letting go and siding back into the water. The kiss having ended almost before he had been able to comprehend what was happening, Sky stood in mild astonishment as he watched Bloom swim away and then vanish out of sight. As the shock slowly gave way and his mind begin to clear, Sky sadly shoved his hands into the front pockets of his jeans as he kept his gaze trained on the lake. So that was it. The end of that chapter of his life. He and Bloom were over. Once and for all. He couldn't lie; a part of him knew that he would always love her even despite how people like his parents spoke of her, the way they called her a phony, an actress. Bloom had been the world to him longer than any other girl and it made it that much more difficult to watch her leave his life. But he had made the right choice nonetheless. He had told Bloom the truth; they weren't what they used to be. So there was no use in hanging on just because they were afraid to let go. It was time to move on, to find what else was out there. Absently, Sky ran his fingertips across his lips as he smiled faintly. The kiss had been nice, though. It had reminded him vaguely of old times, when things had between them had been sweet and light-hearted. But one kiss couldn't change the fact that they had grown apart. It had been a warm parting gift, but a parting gift all the same. Hearing a voice beside him, Sky turned his head to see who his visitor was. Seeing Christine, Sky sighed quietly before he shook his head almost imperceptibly in response to her question. "I'd rather not. As much as I know that I can confide in you, Chris, there are some things that should be left between certain people. In this case, Bloom and myself." Touching her shoulder, Sky finished with a tired smile, "But thank you for asking."

Christine gave him a soft smile. "Just know I'm always willing to listen," she said quietly. She stood up slowly and gave him a gentle hug. "Well, want to head back? Brandon said the chef at school went all out because it was some prince's birthday or something," she said with an absent shrug.
She paused a moment and then playfully swatted him. At his confused look, she grinned. "That was a warning that I didn't want any comments about my hair. I know I have streaks in my hair. And unfortunately, I'm not in the mood to cut my hair to get rid of them *again*. It's a sign of the royal family in my father's realm."

Sky smiled faintly as he lightly tugged at one of Christine's streaked locks. Taking a deep breath, Sky exhaled as he pushed all thoughts of Bloom to the outer reaches of his mind and instead forced himself to focus on the present. The here and now.
With an exclamation of mock severity, Sky replied in a tone of voice that was more akin to his normal self, "Well, this is how I see it; I can't make fun of your hair because every time I look at it I'll be reminded of a rainbow. And then I'll just be too happy to even think up a snarky comment."

Christine rolled her eyes, and gave him a pained but amused smile. "Very funny," she said with a laugh. "Father said, according to the stories, the dawn gave the pink, the sun the gold, and the twilight the lavender. Of course, I think it's entirely silly, but, what do I know?"
