Palladium offered a weak smile, and nodded gratefully. "Yes, I feel that the sooner we can embark on a visit to Athryell, the sooner we can learn whether Flora's condition is treatable." Palladium winced; he hadn't meant to sound so clinical.

: Wysteria waited til Flora handed her the compact and scooted back on to the train to get her suitcase before asking the professor. "Do you think her condition can be reversed?"

"Honestly?" Palladium sighed and shook his head, "I don't know. I've never had to deal with restoring someone's sight, so I don't know what would work and what wouldn't. For example, in some cases, no "remembered" magic can counteract forgotten magic. Thus, sometimes it can be necessary to find another forgotten spell to counteract the original forgotten spell . . . and that can be extremely dangerous. However, if by chance Flora's vision can be reversed by regular magic, I vaguely remember a spell that may have the potential to work . . . I'll just have to find the book it's in. It's bound to be in my library at home . . ." Palladium trailed off, lost in thought.

: Wysteria nodded. "Well, let's get settled in the house first, then after Flora's had a chance to sleep, I can tell she hasn't since it's happened, we'll head to your home realm. I just hope we can help her. I just wish there was something I could do - besides offer her comfort."

Palladium smiled briefly, "Flora is strong - stronger than I expected, actually. I know for a fact that if what happened to Flora had instead happened to some of the other girls in my class, they would not have been able to handle the situation half as beautifully as your daughter. Please take comfort in that, madam; after all, I imagine this time is as difficult for you as it is for Flora."

: Wysteria said nothing for a long while. "I worry about her more," she sighed quietly. "But I'm surprised that she hasn't had a full blown crying session and thrown things yet. I know I would have in her situation.

"In a situation such as this, I believe it is best to remember that everyone reacts differently; for all we know, Flora may well discover that throwing her energy into other things will help her more than dwelling on what has happened. But, then again, it may be the case that she's not ready to accept what she's going through - in other words, she may be in denial." Shaking his head, Palladium continued, his voice sounding tired, "I hate to see her in that position as I can not help but feel responsible. Therefore, I give you my word that if anything can be done to reverse Flora's condition, we will do it."

: "Thank you," Wysteria said and quickly changed the subject as she saw her daughter rejoin them. "So, do you think it's possible I could enchant some of my husband's clothing and send through to you. You must be dying to get fresh clothing on..."

Picking up on Wysteria's hint, Palladium waved his hand dismissively, "Please don't worry about me; I really am perfectly fine." Laughing, he added, "Besides, it is not as though one's clothes can get dirty in a mirror."

"Sounds like you two have been having a fascinating conversation about clothing," Flora said. "If it's okay with you two, I'd like to get home." Her voice was heading into that zone that Palladium had heard only once before - when she had left Alfea after their discussion about them having a romance.

Palladium nodded, "Yes, it would be best to get you home, Flora." His voice taking on a serious, almost grim, tone, he continued, "We will have much to do soon and you will find our task much easier if you are well rested."

: "I don't know about you," Wysteria said quietly, "but that tone she used scared the ever-loving *ahem* out of me."

Palladium's face tightened as Wysteria mentioned her concern. Frowning, he replied quietly, "Yes, I am afraid I agree with you . . . perhaps I was wrong. Perhaps Flora is not holding up as well as I had thought - all the more reason that we need to visit my home realm as soon as possible."

: Wysteria nodded. "The sooner the better." Wysteria carefully guided her daughter through the maze of people and the trio (well, pair plus compact) arrived home. Flora made her way up to her room and closed the door. The sounds of several vases shattering echoed throughout the small house. : "This is going to be fun."

Palladium winced as he heard the sound of shattering glass, his heart immediately filling with sympathy for Flora. Again, his mind reminded himself that Flora didn't deserve what had happened to her and again, his mind taunted that if he hadn't been so stupid with Stormy, none of this would have happened.
Alone in his thoughts, Palladium sighed. To think that if he had been wiser none of this would be happening. Right now he could be at Alfea, preparing for another day's lessons or perhaps he would be on a walk around the lake . . . instead, he was here in Linphea, without the slightest clue how to help Flora.
Funny how one moment or action on his part could change the course of his life, Palladium thought dryly.
