Flora transformed into her fairy form - wanting to do nothing more then dance on the air, something she did while she was at home. She'd tap into her Winx, transform into her fairy form, turn on her radio, flip to a song she liked and then cut free. Her mother loved it when she did it at the shop - it would draw customers in. And her cousins loved it when she did it - they always found the transformations "way awesome".
She picked a small rose colored flower and pinned it into her hair. She smoothed her skirt and fluttered her wings. True, she was still haunted by her nightmares, but she taught herself to lock them away. The further, the better.
She leaned down and flipped her radio on, fiddling with the dial before finding a song. She clapped her hands and giggled before she leapt into the air.
The way we shine... The way we shine... The way we shine... The way we shine... The way we shine... Look at me and you... Everything we say...everything we do... Sharing every smile and the world can see...
The way we shine... Everywhere we go... Havin' fun together...And we let it show... Cause we shine in style... All my friends with me...
Being who we are... Just the way we like... Everyone's a star... Once we realize...
We can reach any dream... Everyone can see... When we believe in ourselves... Everyone can tell...
Gotta celebrate... Our individuality... You're the only you... And I'm the only me...
We can reach any dream... Everyone can see... When we believe in ourselves... Everyone can tell...
The way we shine... Look at me and you... Everything we say...everything we do... Sharing every smile and the world can see...
The way we shine... Everywhere we go... Havin' fun together...And we let it show... Cause we shine in style... all my friends with me... Shine...
The way we shine... The way we shine... The way we shine... The way we shine...
The way we shine... The way we shine... The way we shine... The way we shine...
Being who we are... Just the way we like... Everyone's a star... Once we realize...
We can reach any dream... Everyone can see... When we believe in ourselves... Everyone can tell...
The way we shine... Look at me and you... Everything we say...everything we do... Sharing every smile and the world can see...
The way we shine... Everywhere we go... Havin' fun together...And we let it show... Cause we shine in style... all my friends with me...
She spun, twirled, did a few self dips, all the while moving in time to the music. Laughter bubbled forth from her as she revelled in the music, in the dance.

Pleased that this collection mission of his had turned out better than he had hoped for, Palladium smiled as he lightly patted the burlap sack which was currently housing three semi-rare flowers. Indeed, he could barely contain his enthusiasm as his mind quickly compiled a list of potions he could create using the various parts of the flowers as ingredients.
Whistling lightly to himself, Palladium stepped out into a small clearing and then paused at the sight before him. Flora. Dancing. Suddenly feeling like an intruder, Palladium couldn't help but notice that she seemed so innocent, carefree, childish; it was as if she was in her own little world. No, he couldn't disturb her now - not when she looked so happy and at peace. Turning to go before she spotted him, Palladium winced when his foot slipped on a branch, snapping it loudly.

Flora paused in midstep and slowly lowered herself to the ground. She willed her fairy costume away and felt the soft grass tickle her bare feet. "Is someone there?" she called. A pair of almost knee high boots were laying next to a tree. "Show yourself!" she called again.

With an inward sigh, Palladium stepped out into the clearing as he said, "No need to worry, Ms. Gallowglass; it is only me." Quickly he added as he held up his bag, lest she think that he was spying on her, "I was collecting flowers for some new potions I have been wanting to test when I stumbled upon you; you looked lost in your own thoughts, so I thought I would just leave you in peace . . ."

Flora's green eyes crinkled up in amusement. "I seem to remember a scene similiar to this a long time ago. Only last time, you were in the mirror when you got my attention," she said with a soft laugh. Ever curious, she tilted her head slightly. "And just what kind of flowers were you gathering?"

"Oh, just a few semi-rare ones: amaryllis, tacca chantrieri, and pavonia multiflora," Palladium replied with a smile as he rummaged through his bag to check on their condition. "They'll be most useful to me, I do believe. And if the potions go according to how I foresee, perhaps I will have to teach a lesson on them in class sometime."

Flora's eyes lit up. "Really? What kind of potions are they used for?" she asked, fairly bouncing at the idea of learning new potions. According to her mother - the whole decongestant perfume potion that he had taught had nearly rivaled their sleeping aid as the top seller in their store. So, any potion that could have practical uses for her family was just perfect.

"Well, let's see," Palladium began as he pulled the tacca chantrieri out of his bag. "This one can be used as an ingredient in a variety of healing potions, ranging from treating toothaches to muscle soreness to burns." Taking out the amaryllis, he continued, "This one can be used to treat nausea and dizziness; you could consider it a very potent smelling salt, I suppose. And as for this one," at this Palladium held up the pavonia multiflora, "it's quite a tricky flower. That is to say, it must be used with the utmost care or else it can have near disastrous results. Mix it with the wrong ingredients and . . ." Palladium trailed off as he gave Flora a faint smile, "well, let's just say, we wouldn't want to do that. In any event, my studies seem to indicate that it can treat such ailments as severe headaches and perhaps, though there is no concrete proof, memory loss."

"So, if you let me hypothesize," she said. "If you use the wrong ingredients, you could trigger the world's most severe headache or even worse, lose your memory," she said. She bit her lower lip and looked at him. "Could a potion made from that flower help fight amnesia?" she asked quietly.

"Like I said," Palladium replied, "right now it is not definite, but evidence seems to suggest that it could. Again, the most likely reason why such a potion hasn't been developed is because of the dangers associated with this flower; it has the tendency to make people wary of its usage."

Flora tilted her head, and looked at him. "What kind of dangers?" she asked. She was quite eager to learn - and if this meant she knew the lecture before the other students, oh well. This was her field of focus - her source of power and she wanted to know everything she could.
And, on a purely superficial level...
She liked hearing him talk.

"Dangers of the unknown, I suppose," Palladium replied. After a moment's pause, he continued, "As I mentioned earlier, this flower is quite temperamental; if you mix it with ingredients it doesn't agree with, it very well has the potential to cause more than, as you put it, the world's most severe headache. It could likely cause the death of the person taking such a potion. Because of this possibility, most avoid making potions with this flower as an ingredient; I myself don't intend to create anything with it either because I am not willing to take such risks. Furthermore, I don't think it is necessary that I do because it has been my experience that much can be learned simply by the observation of a plant's outward appearance."

"You make it sound like the flower actively thinks about what kind of ingredients are in with it. Throwing you a hypothetical. Remember that decongestant perfume you taught us, what if you mixed that flower in with it?"

Palladium thought for a moment before he answered, "You would think that they would combine quite nicely to perhaps create a potion against head colds, but I'm not entirely certain that that would work because I'm not sure how the flower would react with the tea leaves. Both have very strong medicinal properties and so I would be worried that the only possible outcome would be an unfortunate explosion. Try this: think of the flower and the tea leaves as two very headstrong people. Now, if these two people were to try to start a friendship it probably would not be very successful because neither one would be willing to compromise; you see, in order to thrive, the relationship has to be about balance. Now back in terms of the flower and the tea leaves, because both are very potent, it is not likely that they will combine to yield something pleasant; instead, both the flower and the tea leaves should probably be combined with something more subdued so that stability can be obtained."

Flora nodded as he spoke. "If I may be so bold to say this, then the pavonia multiflora is kind of like forgotten magic?" she asked, tilting her head. "After all, they are both dangerous if used incorrectly."
