"I don't buy that for a minute," Sky laughed. "I'm sure of the fact that you know many things - probably more than me and I'm pretty smart, if I say so myself. Okay, so maybe I'm no Timmy, but then again, few people are."

She laughed softly. "True, you raise a good point." She smiled, one of her rare true smiles. "So, handsome, shall we head back or do you want to enjoy the rest of the day here...?"

Glancing back at the lake, Sky knew that somewhere out there Bloom was swimming just below the surface, probably thinking about their relationship, their special moments together, the kisses they had shared and so forth, just as he had been doing only moments before. With a quick shake of his head, Sky reminded himself that they were done. Over. Finished. And right now the best thing that he could do for both of them was to put some distance between them.
Turning to Christine, Sky tilted his head back in the direction of the school as he replied, "No, I'm ready to go back."

Christine shyly slipped her hand into his and walked off with him. She blushed a bit and smiled at him, before sobering. "You going to be okay?" she asked softly.

"I will be. In time." Sky responded quietly, not bothering to try to convince her otherwise. She knew him too well; it was no use trying to hide what he was feeling from her. She would know immediately if he was lying or not. And in a way, that was oddly comforting.

Christine paused in midstride. She turned and hugged him, allowing him to let go and actually show her what he was really feeling - if there were tears, she'd let him cry on her. It was her turn - he had done it for her in the past, so it was only fair that she do it for him now.

Surprised by Christine's actions, Sky stood rigidly in her arms, unsure what she wanted him to do. Feeling slightly awkward, Sky lightly patted her back as he wondered suddenly if she expected him to burst into tears or something. True, he was more open than say, Riven, but he wasn't one to cry over a girl. Even if it was a girl he had loved once. Besides, crying didn't solve anything.
After a few moments more, Sky stepped back and said finally, knowing that whatever he said in that moment would sound lame, "Uh . . . thank you?"

"You're welcome," she said softly. "Look, if you ever need a shoulder to cry on or someone to talk to, well," she gave a slight gesture. "I don't mind listening. I really don't, Sky. Just don't shut me out."

A little annoyed that Christine hadn't even reacted over her love being kissed by someone else, Bloom whispered her good bye before sliding back under the water. One more tie to the outside world had been cut; how long before they all forgot about her. Mentally shaking her head, enough about that she thought, Mar was waiting for her.
