"Oh... I couldn't put it down," Christine said, looking a bit amused. "Have you got anything new?" she asked, hope clear in her voice.

"Ha Ha! Not since yesterday." Brandon laughed really getting into the characters.

"That's all right," Christine said, pretending to finger the books as she tried to find a book. "I'll borrow...." she snatched up a book. "This one."

"That one? But you've read it twice!" Brandon said shaking his head in an amused manner.

Standing some distance away, Stella watched with narrowed eyes as Christine and Brandon rehearsed a scene together. They looked like they were having a good time - too good of a time. Giving a soft "hmph," Stella turned her back to the pair as she adjusted her rather low-cut dress. "Of course Christine gets to be Belle," she muttered. "And of course I get stuck being one of those bimbettes who follow Gaston around. It's not fair." Turning to Flora, she continued with a frown, "I tell you, I got this stupid role just because I'm blond! That's discrimination! I could have been just as good of a Belle as Christine - probably even better." With a pout, she added, "I'm a born star so why do I have to have a part that barely consists of any lines?"

"Well, it's my favorite! Far off places, daring swordfights, magic spells, a prince in disguise," Christine said, her voice full of joy. She could see Stella was irritated so she was going to have to make amends later. Hm... She did have a trip to Earth planned to go shopping. There, that settled it. Her trip to London would be handed over to Stella - so much the better.

Turning to Flora, she continued with a frown, "I tell you, I got this stupid role just because I'm blond! That's discrimination! I could have been just as good of a Belle as Christine - probably even better." With a pout, she added, "I'm a born star so why do I have to have a part that barely consists of any lines?" "You know, the director said you can ad-lib so you can have as many lines as you want. And she only got that role because the Starlight girls asked for her. They know her, she's familiar. They don't know you, Stella," Flora pointed out. "Besides, feel sorry for Sky. He has to wear that Beast costume. And you've seen what it looks like. He looks absolutely ridiculous in it." Flora adjusted her costume, finding it incredibly uncomfortable. "Besides, be thankful you're playing a human. I'm a teapot of all things. Honestly, do you see me as a teapot?"

Coming up behind Flora, Layla laughed softly as she caught the end of her friends' conversation. "Oh, Flora, I'm sure you'll make a fantastic teapot. Besides, from what I've read from the script, Mrs. Potts is a very motherly, nurturing, and kind-hearted character - call me crazy, but I think she's just like you." Turning to Stella, Layla smiled dryly as she said, "But as for you, Stella, I do wish that you didn't have to be one of the bimbettes. In fact, I wish that we'd eliminate those characters altogether. I mean, look at your costume - you're practically falling out of your dress. It's degrading to females, I tell you. Not to mention how you're going to have to grope and swoon over Riven because word has it that he's Gaston." With an amused smile, Layla added, "I wonder how Brandon will take that."

Rolling her eyes, Stella replied, "There's nothing wrong with the way I look in this outfit - not really. The way I see it, my beauty is a gift - I should flaunt it. It'd be a crime to do otherwise. Besides, it's not like Isabeau is a complete tart; she's just a simple girl in lust with a strong, handsome fellow." In a slightly snippy tone, she added, "But you wouldn't know anything about that, now would you, Layla?"

Narrowing her eyes, Layla frowned as she asked, although she had a hunch that she already knew the answer, "And just what is that supposed to mean?"
It was no secret that she and Stella didn't exactly see eye to eye on things like this. In fact, they could probably be better described as complete opposites. Where she was a feminist through and through, Stella, well, Stella . . . wasn't. It wasn't as though Stell particularly possessed any outdated ideas about what a woman's "place" was - it was more like she just didn't give the time of day to thoughts about those kinds of issues. It just didn't interest her. It had always bugged Layla on some level, but at heart, Stella was a sweet girl and even if she didn't find chauvinistic guys to be all that offensive, she still loved her. But right now - right now Stella was walking on thin ice. Layla could accept their differences, but she couldn't accept being attacked so superficially.
OOC: While I'm thinking about it, anyone have any ideas as to what part Layla could play in the production?

Entering the auditorium, Karina glanced around at the many students hurrying to and fro, working on costumes, and rehearsing lines. Smiling faintly, Karina held her costume tight against her chest as she walked down the aisle toward the stage where the majority of the students were located. Noticing that everyone seemed to be in their own little clique, Karina stood awkwardly to the side for a few moments before she sighed and turned to lower her bag onto a nearby chair. At that particular moment, she was beginning to regret having signed up to be a part of the production. She had done it on a whim - it had just seemed like such a nice thing to do. After all, it was for a great cause . . .
Of course the fact that she couldn't sing a note to save her life wouldn't matter, Karina thought dryly as she found herself wishing for the umpteenth time that Alice had agreed to join the cast. Instead, her friend had opted to help paint the set - which had been completed some time ago. And so now she was here. Alone. What else was new?
OOC: Same thing goes for Karina as for Layla - I'm at a loss for who she should play in the production.

Feeling absolutely ridiculous, Sky sat in a locked supply closet as he muttered under his breath, "How the hell did I get roped into this? Look at me. I look ridiculous. Absolutely, no way around it, ridiculous. I can't go out there. I won't go out there. It's humiliating. I'm a prince for goodness sake - I can't go out in public looking like this. The tabloids will rip me to pieces." With a sigh, Sky leaned against the wall, feeling the sudden urge to pound his head against it. But it was all for a good cause. It was for the children. Sad, lonely children who just wanted a little light in their lives.
Sky groaned. Swearing under his breath, he pushed himself to his feet as he tentatively opened the closet door and poked his head out. Damn children. If it wasn't for them, well, them and Christine, there would be no way he would never do something as insane as this.
He was going to regret this, he knew. And everyone else probably was too . . .
Because he couldn't sing worth squat.

OOC: the beauty of this (no puns intended) is that you can create your own roles We're just using the Disney version as a launching point - so you can create your own characters Christine turned her head when she heard the closet open and she paused in midscene. Her eyes widened and she broke out in a grin before running off stage to hug Sky. "Where were you?" she asked, gently kissing the "beast"'s cheek. "I was starting to get worried." She glanced away, and started to play with the hem of her dress, clearly shy and embarrassed by her over-eager greeting.

Flora decided that this would be the best time to leave. She was in no mood to deal with the feuding females. She grinned when she saw Karina, and she quickly made her way over. "Karina, it's so good to see you," Flora said. She glanced over and directed her attention over to the "star couple". "What do you think of Sky's costume?"

Relieved to see a familiar face, Karina smiled and gave a little wave as Flora approached. Taking a seat on the armrest of one of the auditorium chairs, Karina replied with a soft laugh, "I wouldn't dare tell him to his face, but I think he looks ridiculous. But not in a bad way. In a cute, 'aww, the kids will love him for looking so goofy' way."
